Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) Reviews & Product Details

Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP - formerly known as D2IQ Kubernetes Platform) is a turnkey, enterprise-grade Kubernetes platform built to simplify platform engineering and scale cloud-native operations anywhere. Built on pure, CNCF-validated upstream open-source projects, NKP eliminates vendor lock-in while providing a fully integrated, production-ready container stack. NKP establishes a single point of control for managing fleets of Kubernetes clusters across public clouds (including Amazon EKS and Azure AKS), on-premises data centers, remote edge sites, and bare-metal servers. By leveraging Cluster API and GitOps, platform teams can automate full-stack lifecycle management, including rolling upgrades, security patching, and compliance enforcement, turning complex day-2 operations into repeatable, automated workflows. Beyond cluster management, NKP delivers integrated enterprise data services through Nutanix Data Services for Kubernetes (NDK), providing persistent storage (block, file, and object), disaster recovery, and database management for stateful applications and AI/ML workloads. With NKP Metal, organizations can run virtualized and bare-metal Kubernetes under a unified dual-native architecture. NKP also includes out-of-the-box observability, AI-driven insights, and integrated cost management. Turnkey & Open Architecture - Pure Upstream Kubernetes: Built with non-proprietary interfaces and CNCF-validated projects (integrating 22 core open-source components) to prevent vendor lock-in. - Instant Platform Engineering: Delivers blueprinted clusters and golden templates to provision production-ready environments in hours rather than weeks. Enterprise Fleet Management & Day 2 Operations - Unified Central Management: Manage Kubernetes clusters consistently across hybrid multicloud, public cloud runtimes (EKS/AKS), edge, and air-gapped locations. - Automated Lifecycle & GitOps: Declarative Cluster API deployment, FluxCD application updates, and automated rolling upgrades minimize maintenance windows and human error. - Security & Compliance: Military-grade security exceeding NSA/CISA hardening guidelines with centralized RBAC, policy enforcement, and air-gapped deployment support. Integrated Data Services & Workload Versatility - Enterprise Data Protection: Integrated storage services (Nutanix Data Services for Kubernetes) deliver persistent block, file, and object storage, policy-based backups, and disaster recovery orchestration. - Dual-Native Infrastructure (NKP Metal): Manage virtualized Kubernetes alongside physical bare-metal nodes for latency-sensitive, GPU, and GenAI workloads through a single control plane. - Built-in FinOps & Observability: Real-time cost allocation combined with integrated logging, metrics, and AI-driven root-cause analysis.
