"Always new ways to connect systems together"
5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Loads of new features that make the overall package so much better. The recent real time ingredient picker was a needed feature that delivered well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Pricing has really gotten a bit harsher. Considering that my early critiques were about having more users. We now have unlimited users, but the pricing model is focused on add-ons and per order. While this is good for scalability, the base cost is still a bit high for smaller manufacturing companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kurt Strang of Katana Cloud Inventory

Thanks for the review and feedback Raees!

Additional users are a fraction of the cost of the base subscription which helps teams easily scale with Katana, but fair feedback anyhow which I've shared with our team.

Happy to hear you're utilizing our APIs already, and great news on that — we just released our latest round of updates to the API on the 27th.

Now all possible endpoints are available from sales to manufacturing.

Cheers!

"Novel Manufacturing Solutions with Thorough Tutorials and Smooth Cloud Access"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

This MRP has some novel solutions for complicated manufacturing processes. The tutorial library is very thorough and a lot of my initial questions were answered before even needing to speak to anyone. The cloud-based approach makes it easy to use all over the factory. Runs smooth on all devices we have tried, and integrates into a lot of other software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The software lacks the ability to flag item cards, POs, SOs, etc. with user defined fields. There are a couple flow-through options which might solve some issues, however simple things like a drop down to assign a GL or a Project Code does not exist without having to get a coder or consultant. "Intuitive Onboarding and Exceptionally Helpful Support"
5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The software is very intuitive, even during our onboarding process when we were still very new to the system, we were able to practice with the system, and it took almost no time at all for our team to get the hang of it. Also, every employee that we have spoken to thus far has been extremely kind and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Honestly, there isn't much we don't like about Katana, the system is way better than what we we're using before. I would say the only things that are a bit bothersome is that there are some functions that I'm not sure Katana has. All of them are very small functions though, like the ability to add Net 45 days on Invoices for example. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hey, Spencer!

This was awesome to read.

"No time at all to get the hang of it" is the goal! We're happy to know onboarding went smoothly, and that Katana has made a genuine positive impact on your business.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

"Efficient Inventory Management with Room for Improvement"
4/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I like how accurate Katana Cloud Inventory is and its good amount of capabilities to help speed up our whole fulfillment process. It speeds up our invoicing and shipping-label process while maintaining an accurate inventory of our products and packaging. I also appreciate how well it works with our shipping platform, sending the invoice to our QuickBooks Online, and then sharing the info with our shipping platform to make our shipping label for us, speeding up the whole process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

If there were add-on features without having to move up to the next tier completely. We only need one thing from the next tier, but not all the things that come with that bundle. It should allow us to upgrade any add-on, even if it's just one. That would make it fully customizable and allow each company to use the processes needed for their fulfillment and operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hey Zane,

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We're glad Katana is a good fit and the invoicing, QuickBooks, and shipping label workflow are running smoothly for you.

On the add-on flexibility - good news! Our pricing has evolved: our Core plan now includes unlimited integrations and unlimited users built in, and you can add the add-ons you need on top - Warehouse Management, Traceability, Manufacturing Management - and pay only for what you need. Sales orders work on a pay-as-you-grow model, so you're only paying for what you use.

Take a look at how it works now: katanamrp.com/pricing/, and reach out if you want to talk it through.

"Streamlined Inventory and Sales Order Management"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I find Katana Cloud Inventory to be relatively simple and easy to use, yet it still offers a lot of features of a 'modern' MRP system and doesn't feel clunky. The API is a big plus as it makes it easy to connect to other systems. I really like how it allows someone with no software engineering skills to build tools to improve our workflows, like posting updates on Slack when a sales order is delivered or getting data to build our own dashboards. The initial setup was pretty easy, especially uploading data with Excel sheets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

It doesn’t have a “Quality status” of batches of products. This is needed for our food production workflow. Just a dedicated “QA pending / QA hold status” for product batches - that prevents it being sold or used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hey Ryan,

It's great to read about how you're making Katana your own through our open API. That's exactly the kind of thing we want to make possible.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a detailed review.

We're always improving, keep an eye on our updates.

"Efficient, Intuitive & Transparent Inventory Management"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I like how easy Katana Cloud Inventory is to use, allowing all the team members to log in on their own. This feature enables us to track inventory from different departments effectively. It brings transparency as it allows individuals to track what they do on the platform and gives them the autonomy to update inventory or make adjustments as needed. I also appreciate that it syncs with both of my Shopify accounts, consolidating all of my sales orders from both places, which is definitely one of its pluses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The PO tracking is something that I think they're evolving as they just added draft orders. But that's been a pain point for me, as well as the way it talks to manufacturing orders. I think it's a continued evolution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hey Sam,

We're happy to know your team is making the most out of Katana and that it was a smooth transition.

Thanks for noting what's still evolving too. We're always working to get it right.

"Intuitive Yet Overbuilt for Small Teams"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I use Katana Cloud Inventory to track inventory for my fermentation business. It's extremely intuitive and user-friendly, which is really important for us because our team is diverse, with many people who are not used to complex software. It's nice that Katana is easy to train staff on, ensuring that our inventory is accurately tracked and kept up to date. With Ash's help, the initial setup was fairly easy, and even though it took a lot of effort, it was worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I think Katana is over-built for our needs. It might be nice to grow into, though. I also think stock adjustments, stocktakes, and stock data uploads are confusing to decide what to use when. We linked it to QuickBooks, but I don't like it. Packing slips and invoices used to include our logo and were flashier, but I haven't figured out how to do that on katana yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hey Evan,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Happy to hear you find Katana intuitive and easy to use and thank you for your shoutout to Ash - we'll pass the kudos along.

We're looking forward to seeing your business and team grow into all of Katana's features.

If you need anything, we're here to help.

"Great for Manufacturing, Needs Better PO Features"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I really like that Katana Cloud Inventory works well for manufacturing, which is essential for our needs. The multi-level BOMs are very helpful to us because we have complex manufacturing processes. I also appreciate the insights feature, which is quite useful for analyzing past data and making forecasts for future ordering and production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I would like there to be a better system for auto-assembly products. Currently, auto-assembly is only available for kits, not for individual products. The purchase orders (POs) could be improved in multiple ways: you should be able to select the tax code for all items at once, instead of going through them one by one; when ordering cases, it should show the case size and the total amount, rather than just the number of cases, requiring a click into the UoM field; most importantly, you should be able to apply a discount to the total PO and have it be distributed, similarly to applying shipping costs to the whole PO. "Detailed Production Insights, Needs Better Sales Integration"
3/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I like how detailed Katana Cloud Inventory is when it comes to product recipes and inventory tracking. It's nice having everything in one place, from materials to packaging to the final product, which has automated our system and helped prevent us from running out of materials during projects. This prevents us from having to stop production unexpectedly and saves us money. After using Katana Cloud Inventory for about a month, our process is much smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

There are many things that could be improved. While the production side of Katana is fairly seamless, the sales side has many issues that slow our team down and make it difficult to stay organized. Sorting products is a big problem that we run into with the limited fields Katana provides. In Shopify, we can sort products by type, vendor, category, name, etc., and have a clearer picture of inventory. In Katana, we are limited to sorting by name or SKU, and it's hard to filter out external vendor products or products that we're out of stock for. Additionally, it's hard to create transfers since we're not able to have advanced filters. We have to scroll and scroll through hundreds of products to be able to find and select what we need. Even if we are sorting by SKU, there are other products that show up, creating clutter in the list. Another issue is not having product sync with Shopify until an item is sold. We frequently move product between locations, and this makes our inventory show as out of stock until it's sold. It would be nice to have a more streamlined inventory sync with Shopify, especially since if the inventory doesn't immediately show up, it may appear as out of stock on our online store, keeping customers from purchasing it. Another issue is not being able to bulk edit within Katana. I understand that there are many data export options, but this creates many additional steps to download, edit, and import, all while making sure not to accidentally edit something I didn't mean to. It would be easier and more streamlined to edit within Katana directly and not have many excel sheets to sort through. Overall, user experience could be greatly improved for easier and quicker workflows. Using similar workflows to Shopify would make the integration a lot smoother and reduce the learning curve for our sales teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brendan of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hi there! We're glad Katana has made a real difference on the production side, preventing unexpected stops and keeping materials in stock.

On the pain points: we're aware that sorting/filtering and bulk editing have room to improve, and these are areas we're looking to improve in the future. On the Shopify inventory sync, this is a known gap specifically for the initial sync when adding a newly created location, not an ongoing sync issue. It's something we want to address, and your feedback helps us prioritize.

We're looking forward to making the experience better for you.

"Simplified Inventory Management with QuickBooks Integration"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I like the simplicity of using Katana Cloud Inventory. It's very well thought out. The PO system is very nice, and I appreciate that we can use inventory and quotes all in one place, which makes it a lot easier. It keeps everything organized and integrates with QuickBooks so our inventory is managed correctly. The initial setup was extremely easy, albeit time-consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The customer relations portion of the platform. There is no way to send those quotes through Katana making it harder to track. I also do not like that there are so many add ons that are not included and cost significant amounts. For instance, scanning the items and having to pay for the feature. If we need extra material we have to change that in Katana manually, would be nice to pull what we need in real time. I feel like add ons should not cost the same as the entire subscription. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hey, Tristan!

That's how we want Katana to feel: simple to use and highly effective.

Glad the QuickBooks integration and having POs, inventory, and quotes in one place is making life easier.

We hear you on the add-on pricing and the quote-sending limitation. We're always looking for ways to improve, so this kind of feedback is genuinely useful.
