## ImageJ Reviews
  ### 1. Great for Fluorescence Analysis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2019

**What do you like best about ImageJ?**

Allows for intuitive and straightforward analysis of images, perfect for scientific study. Allows for easy manual control of image quantification and background removal.

The use of analysis software is absolutely necessary in quantification of biochemical experiments, such as western blots or PAGE. ImageJ offers a free, quick quantification of these experiments, which offers great benefit to lab at little expense of either time or money. There is no harm to trying it out - simply download it and get started. Because of the ubiquity of use of the software, tutorials are abundant online, both video and a written guide. This allows for easy access to even the advanced applications of this software, and makes it something that anybody can use. Even first time users can very easily give presentable results in minutes, and once the skills are learned quick analysis is easy. This software adds to any lab at minimal risk. The software is not even large, so download and implementation is easy.

**What do you dislike about ImageJ?**

The image analysis is non-replicable, as there is no formalized way to analyze images. Some softwares offer an automatic background removal which makes results fairly replicable.

**Recommendations to others considering ImageJ:**

Very easy to use

**What problems is ImageJ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fluorescence analysis is made easy.

Disclaimer: I have only used this software for image analysis of biochemical experiments. Other manipulation of images is possible through this software. One can easily find the capabilities of this software online through a google search or otherwise, and from downloading and playing with this software its' capabilities can be discovered with ease. I absolutely recommend this software.

  ### 2. good for image processing

**What do you dislike about ImageJ?**

takes a while to learn to navigate quickly using the user interface

**What problems is ImageJ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

biological imaging in scientific research. i use imageJ to analyze my images. i do not use imageJ exclusively

  ### 3. Useful and underutilized

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2019

**What do you like best about ImageJ?**

Saves me a ton of time on counting cells by allowing use of a macro instead of doing each picture individually. Also fairly easy to set up macro.

**What do you dislike about ImageJ?**

A bit confusing in terms of figuring out what all of the functions are and how to set each setting accurately.

**Recommendations to others considering ImageJ:**

Look through the support documents to figure out how it can best serve your needs.

**What problems is ImageJ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Counting cells on microscopy images. Saves the lab hours of time

  ### 4. Useful application for processing visual scientific data

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathaniel G. | NIDDK F32 Postdoctoral Fellow, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2018

**What do you like best about ImageJ?**

The best aspect of ImageJ is that is has many useful built-in macros and the ability add on others with a few simple clicks.

**What do you dislike about ImageJ?**

The user interface is too simplified and can be overwhelming/confusing at first to a new user. The macros and plugin capabilities can be a bit confusing to new users as well.

**What problems is ImageJ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I particularly utilize ImageJ to process Western Blot images by quantifying pixel density within user-defined areas and taking advantage of its built-in despeckle function to clean-up my images.

  ### 5. Wow, exactly what I needed

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about ImageJ?**

It's a wonderful software which works well in a number of fields. It's marketed not only for medical research, but for what I'm using it for, in engineering. The ability to manipulate image data with this thing is something that can't be duplicated by another software IMO.

**What do you dislike about ImageJ?**

Almost all of the processes have to be done manually, but that is probably something that can't be helped until the future, when smarter tech comes around for data analyzation.

**Recommendations to others considering ImageJ:**

Great software for a number of fields, but great for photo and micro photo data analyzing.

**What problems is ImageJ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this product for engineering research, to analyze data as far as chemicals, sediment, etc.
