It can be deployed in cloud even tho it is a classic software. It also provides a solid foundation for best practice integrations. Many customers do not finish installing mdm as they had planned. Well established product with strong user base and support communities. IBM support is great. Simple GUI for easy learning. **What do you dislike about IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management?** Big Insights not at par with Cloudera and Horton works. Cloud capability for Data Stage not effective. **Recommendations to others considering IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management:** Products in the suite and very diverse with strong capabilities. Strong integration with Data and Information Governance solutions IGC as well as support for Cloud and Big Data capabilities exist. **What problems is IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** DataIntegration, ETL, OLTP and OLAP loads, Real time data processing using MQ, ETL loads Scheduling using DataStage scheduler. Address validation for Master Data Management. InfoSphere Information server is our primary Data Integration tool for data cleaning, standardization and loading. We use it as part of data integration for our OLTP / transactional systems as well as batch loading into the data warehouse. ### 38. In the early days the suite was all about DataStage - a lot of companies only used DataStage and underutilised profiling and metadata lineage. Today there is a lot more appreciation for Business Glossary and Data Quality Scorecards and these have just about taken over from DataStage as the key value of the suite. **What do you dislike about IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management?** It has a weak web user interface - especially the FastTrack mapping tool and the Information Analyzer profiling tool. This has really stopped it from becoming more widely used in big organisations. I think these problems are being fixed in the Data Works cloud version and hopefully the InfoSphere suite will have uniform web user interface tools soon across all business user functions. **Recommendations to others considering IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management:** Start with the strengths of the suite first - the massively scalable data integration. The business user interaction via the Business Glossary. The metadata imports to create a catalogue of information assets and put together some lineage. The Data Quality Monitoring and Scorecards. Look for add on products that fill the gaps - like Analytix DS for a better mapping tool and ETL job generation and reference data management. This gives you a super-suite - a set of tools that works well together but has best of breed for Glossary, ETL, Mapping and DQ monitoring. **What problems is IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main benefit is providing a catalogue of information assets that can deliver on Information as an Asset - letting an organisation catalogue what they have, the owners of those assets, the lineage, the definition, the security classifications and the data quality confidence scores. Without a catalogue of Information Assets you never really have Information as an Asset - it's only a slogan and not the reality. The Governance Scorecards that are now bundled are an ongoing measurement of how the organisation and divisions and project teams are doing with Information Governance standards such as ownership and classification and quality. Without scorecards and monitoring Governance is something that people can easily ignore to the detriment of the company. ### 39. Easy UI to work with. **What do you dislike about IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management?** Features are useful but newest and best pieces come in the future releases - have found in difficult to find examples of organizations that have upgraded from one version to another. Have a lot of baggage from the old versions which prevents easy transition. Processing performance is a little lacking. Fairly expensive licensing. **Recommendations to others considering IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management:** Keep up to date on the new releases. Don't customize too much. **What problems is IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** Establishing one view of the customer - using this to establish unique identifiers for customers. Multiple uses for this - risk, marketing, analytics, etc. ### 40.
