"Amazing AI and SQL Autocomplete That Speeds Up My Work"
4/5
What do you like best about Hex?

Recent AI capabilities are amazing, and I’ve been using them a lot. When I’m writing SQL queries, I especially like the autocomplete features—they make my work faster and help me write more accurately. I also like the data schema explorer when I need to find specific tables, and it’s helpful for quickly exploring their contents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

Notebooks can quickly get messy once you start creating a lot of cells in the same notebook, and it’s easy to lose your place while scrolling to find the cell you’re looking for. I’m not fully convinced by this Notebook and App partitioning, because it feels clunky and confusing in practice. For example, when you’re working with tabs, it’s hard to tell in the Notebook which cells are associated with which tabs. I also found it strange that the order of cells shown in the App is different from the order in which they appear in the Notebook. Finally, I’d like you to offer a native way to push data to a Google Spreadsheet, since that currently isn’t possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Data Analysis with Powerful AI"
5/5
What do you like best about Hex?

I really appreciate Hex for making data analysis and dashboard creation much easier. Normally, I'd have to hire a data scientist, and it would take them a long time to complete the work and make it presentable; now I can do it all on my own. I especially like its AI agent; it's incredibly capable. I can simply tell it what I want in plain language, and while I have to guide it, it manages to find the data, transform it, and make it presentable. It's also been easy to learn, even though I didn't set up the initial software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I would like the agent to have a few different modes - like "fast" or "thinking" etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast and Rich Analytics"
4/5
What do you like best about Hex?

I use Hex for all my analytics, and it really speeds up my work. What used to take me two or three days can now be done in about half a day. I think the AI agent in Hex is really good for doing a lot of analytics and helps generate insights for stakeholders. I also like the guides part where you can set up the context and business logics of your company/data, making it really easy for the AI to understand the context. Setting up Hex didn't even need to create semantic models; you just provide a database and a little context, and it figures out what to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I think the Hex apps could be a little more efficient, especially in how AI accesses data from apps. It would be helpful if cached data could be utilized instead of running the warehouse query again and again. This would save a lot of time, especially when using the thread feature. "Hex AI 10/10 without credit limits. With proposed limits 3/10, gutting main benefit."
3/5
What do you like best about Hex?

I oversee our Operations department. Myself and most of my team don't have a lot of experience with writing sql, phython, etc. The product makes it SUPER easy to analyze our data, automate certain workflows, and move super quickly here. Your platform also serves as a secure way to get my team, and others, access to the data. Hex AI is the 1# feature for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

There are two things.

- The #1 issue is the credit system you're about to release. The reason we've been able to move quickly is because we didn't have this credit limit. I can't do like anything with 40 credits. Some of my team use like 500 credits creating new visuals and automations. This is going to stop us in our tracks here and make us to look for alternatives.

- The #2 issue is that we've made all these great visuals but we keep hitting page limits and so we have many many one off visuals now. If we could somehow have bigger projects that would make navigating insights and managing systems much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Tool for Data Analysis with Seamless Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Hex?

I really like Hex because it's really friendly for me, especially in how it fits the workflow of a data analyst. The connectivity between cells in the notebook functionality is something I appreciate. I also like that Hex can mix SQL and Python, storing all the variables, tables, and building upon it. The ability to use it with my Claude Code via the Hex CLI for scaffolding analysis is pretty good. Additionally, I enjoy the nice design of Hex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I found the agent capacity quite limiting due to the lack of context. HEX needs a stronger connector to the context ecosystem, like GitHub, Google Workspace, Slack, etc. It would be nice to have more robust context settings for each user and project level so that the HEX agent understand business use cases better. The refresh of the project can be a bit annoying, as what's refreshed in the production app is different from what it is in edit mode. I wish it always showed the latest data between the two. "Versatile AI Agents and Seamless SQL-Python Notebooks for a Hassle-Free Workflow"
4/5
What do you like best about Hex?

Its versatility that provides me the ability to utilize AI agent to execute preprocessing and also help to elevate the end product UI so that users can easily navigate through it. Also, it's ability to support integrations SQL query and python in the same notebook provide hassle free experience without having to set up query and preprocessing in different places which is hard to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

Although it allows teams to collaborate, it often is a messy experience as someone could come in and made an edit to the dashboard without publishing, then another person could come in without knowing it and update something and publish, then realized something was not right as the code has been changed. I hope there could be a way to create an isolated space under a project so that each of the members on the team can come in and edit without having to worry about the aforementioned issue. In addition, if the dashboard project gets larger for having more codes, more data to process, the entire notebook becomes very laggy, and typing codes can be slow as well. "Seamless SQL + Python Workflow, but Slow Loads and Limited Sharing Controls"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Hex?

Chaining SQL and combining SQL and Python seamlessly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

Slow load times (largely due to inability to quickly run parallel queries against warehouse) and lacking sharing/app permission options. We get a lot of complaints about slow load times, which drives people to use Looker Studio instead. In terms of sharing, it's very difficult to share a dashboard with a wide audience because with link sharing turned on, everyone in the workspace is then able to find the project. We want password protected links and also the ability to turn on link sharing without the entire workspace being able to easily find a dashboard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Revolutionizing Analytics with Efficiency and Innovation"
5/5
What do you like best about Hex?

I really appreciate the speed and velocity at which Hex is moving. Their product team is actively working on implementing many of our requests, like offering GitHub access as context and pushing guides from GitHub into Hex. They also are working on things like persistent memory. This responsiveness and ability to move faster than we expected make it exciting to see what continues to happen with their threads agent, especially as it aims to become a full circle AI for development, analytics, and insights within the BI landscape. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

Hex could improve on building the knowledge graph so it doesn't do repetitive steps, especially during searches. The search speed through vectorization could be faster. Also, on the backend, there's room to enhance capabilities like caching results or dynamically building semantic views to reduce repetitive work. It would be great if Hex could recognize frequently asked questions and optimize its responses and save results efficiently, allowing analytics teams to integrate these insights smoothly into their workflows. "All-in-One Data Analysis Powerhouse with Intuitive Features"
5/5
What do you like best about Hex?

I love how Hex lets me conduct my entire analytical workflow within one system. The HexMagic feature is super helpful for fixing code quickly, and its natural language processing capabilities make ad hoc querying a breeze. I appreciate the AI assistant which aids in exploratory data analysis by examining different subpopulations over time scales. I can easily iterate on strategies, generate charts, and automate dashboard updates, all of which save me from manually pulling and sifting through data. I find the integration with metadata really strong, which enhances searchability and allows me to work more efficiently. Additionally, I love the setup where threads can use the history of other threads, making it a neat system. It's incredibly intuitive, helpful, and constantly improving, which makes me rate it a 10 out of 10. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I'd like some more opportunities for some sort of calculated fields within the charts or some additional ability to do weighted averages. It's a little bit difficult to do that with the inbuilt charts. We want to look at something like balanced weighted APR, which is quite difficult to do split across things in the current Hex charts. Also, some nontechnical users use HexMagic outputs as a source of truth. As good as HexMagic is, it does make some assumptions and sometimes errors. It would be helpful, as a Hex admin, to be able to designate certain user groups and edit the workspace rules for subgroups of users to ensure they challenge the AI outputs more and have a more restricted knowledge base. This would help in making sure the outputs are true. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Saves Time with Intuitive Data Analysis"
5/5
What do you like best about Hex?

I like that Hex allows me to get results the same day without needing SQL knowledge. It's fantastic for importing complex equations like Erlang C with our existing data mart. The ability to create quick and easy charts for last-minute requests is also really useful. Hex saves me hours by pulling data, gathering it into relevant spaces, and running formulas. I was able to complete a very time-sensitive project request with this tool, and I don't think I could have done it without Hex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I'd like to be able to copy prompts from thread to thread. Another great feature would be if I could create my own personal glossary of terms unique to my user name. I find myself keeping a file of definitions to use in prompts. Having a user-generated dictionary that could be shared with other non-coding managers would help with barrier to entry and I believe greater usage in our operations department. It took a few weeks to figure it out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
