Flatfile is a powerful import tool that just works. It has all the features you'd expect from an importer plus ones you wouldn't initially consider. For developers, their API is well documented and their support was always available to discuss approach. We've made Flatfile a cricitical part of our onboarding process and it's worked out great! It did take longer to implement than we initially anticipated. While there is a drop-in option, the real power comes from processing data as you import which requires custom development in your own app. Our importer needed to validate lots of different kinds of data some of which didn't fit as nicely into the box as I would have hoped. Flatfile makes it really easy for my customers to import CSV without requiring them to follow a rigid structure. They drag-and-drop, then Flatfile squeezes their data into my desired format.

The only minor issue is that the client-side version is not quite as fully-featured as the version that sends data to the Flatfile backend, meaning that the column matching is not quite as smart. But this is really minor - I'd strongly recommend Flatfile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our software company offers both a CRM and billing system and routinely needs to migrate paid subscribers from other platforms onto our software. Like many companies, we previously shared a templated CSV file that customers could complete in order to import their data into our software. No matter how prescriptive we were, there was always a string of data related issues that would make this a challenge—data could easily be corrupted based on whether the file was opened on a Mac vs. a PC, checklist and radio list properties required special formatting, users might store dates in European formats, and then there were differences in encoding (ASCII, UTF-8, etc) that frankly were completely foreign to most of our customers and could impact whether their import was successful or not. It's a big, meaty, unglamorous problem—and one that Flatfile solved for us almost overnight. Implementation was easy and now our customers have an intuitive interface that they can use to map their data appropriately prior to import.
