What do you like best about Drivetrain?

Drivetrain has helped us move away from Excel for reporting and budgeting. We’ve been able to generate a lot of useful insights for different teams, and it’s also allowed us to automate much of our reporting process, which has made things more consistent and easier to manage.

The implementation (& overall customer support team) has been very smooth and there was an amazing collaboration with the team to bring us up to speed and allow us to be mostly self sufficient. It integrates with most of our tools natively and if it doesn't there are always workarounds (API, csv, googlesheet, etc.). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Drivetrain?

Drivetrain has been incredible in helping my team manage and analyze our companies data. Prior to implementing Drivetrain all of our data sat in independent systems which meant data was fragmented and required constant manipulation to conduct meaningful analysis. Our monthly close process took over a week as a result. Post-Implementation we now have instant access to our data and the various transformations and adjustments are handled automatically in the background with no more reconciliation issues.

We did the implementation ourselves with the support of their team and found the system intuitive and modeling was very similar to excel so the learning curve was manageable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Drivetrain?

The primary downsides from my perspective:

1) Change Management: If you have a culture (CFO / PE or VC investors) who are overly anchored on Excel reports or highly specific visuals, you may have trouble getting full value out of the tool. There will be a learning curve for all users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Drivetrain?

Drivetrain is the FP&A solution that actually empowers finance professionals. The platform offers comprehensive financial management, encompassing budgeting and forecasting, as well as financial planning and analysis (FP&A). The platform connects directly to our source systems, which means we spend far less time pulling data and more time analyzing it. I also appreciate the real-time dashboards and reporting, as well as the ability to quickly run what-if scenarios across budget, forecast, headcount, cash flow, and revenue planning. The AI features (e.g., natural language analysis, model generation, anomaly detection, and “plain English” data transformations) are a significant productivity boost. What do you dislike about Drivetrain?

One aspect I find lacking in Drivetrain is the limited ability to customize report branding during export. For instance, it's not possible to add our company logo to the report's cover page. I also wish there were more options for global color customization—specifically, the option to set a company color palette or brand theme so that all charts would automatically use those colors by default. Consistent brand colors are crucial for many organizations, not only for maintaining a professional appearance but also to avoid resembling competitors too closely. What do you like best about Drivetrain?

Drivetrain is an excellent platform, from the onboarding to implementation and daily work. It really improved our FP&A process and now we are able to close the month and budget faster and automated, without using spreadsheets. Their AI is very useful too. This is especially valuable for strategic planning, reforecasting, and decision support.

What do you like best about Drivetrain?

I like how flexible and intuitive Drivetrain is compared to traditional FP&A tools. It allows us to build and adjust financial models without being locked into rigid templates, which is especially helpful as our business evolves. The real-time scenario modeling is a big plus. We can quickly test different assumptions and immediately see the impact on revenue, cash flow, and profitability. It saves a lot of time and makes conversations with leadership more data-driven. I also appreciate how Drivetrain has significantly reduced the manual work we used to do in spreadsheets and made collaboration between finance and other teams much smoother. The integration with our accounting system and CRM to keep forecasts and reports up to date without manual data entry is very useful. What do you dislike about Drivetrain?

While Drivetrain is a powerful tool, some of the more advanced modeling features have a learning curve, especially for users who aren’t coming from a strong FP&A background. It takes a bit of time to fully understand how to structure more complex models efficiently. More guided workflows or best-practice templates for advanced use cases—such as multi-scenario planning, headcount modeling, or long-term forecasting—would help reduce setup time and make the platform easier to scale. What do you like best about Drivetrain?

The platform has completely transformed how we run FP&A at our company. The biggest thing for me is how much faster I can build scenarios and update our forecasts. What used to take hours in Excel now happens in minutes. The interface is actually intuitive, which is rare for finance software. I also love that I can connect directly to our data sources instead of constantly exporting and importing CSV files. The collaboration features make it way easier to work with our sales and ops teams on planning. Everyone can see the same numbers in real time, which has eliminated so many version control headaches. What do you dislike about Drivetrain?

There's a learning curve at first, especially if you're coming from pure spreadsheet workflows. Some of the more advanced features took me a bit to figure out. The documentation could be stronger in certain areas. Occasionally I run into small bugs with the data connectors, though their support team is usually quick to help. I wish there were more keyboard shortcuts for power users. The mobile experience isn't great either, but honestly I mostly use it from my laptop anyway so not a huge deal. What do you like best about Drivetrain?

The customer service levels are fantastic; these guys are serious about ensuring that their product meets the needs of their customers.

I have multiple instances of quickbooks online that I have to consolidate to get an accurate picture; before, every time there is a request internally or from investors or potential investors, i would have to download multiple csvs, consolidate, and slice and dice data manually which would take hours for every request that would come in. Drivetrain basically gives me all of my KPIs, dashboards, customer information, vendor information, etc across all instances of quickbooks in one database, and I can get insights in seconds (vs. hours). We were at the stage of considering a brand new expensive ERP, but Drivetrain has given me the insights I needed and has extended the useful life of quickbooks by years and avoids a very expensive and time consuming ERP implementation. The implementation was 95% done by Drivetrain themselves (vs. an ERP implementation which requires a huge effort from the end users), and the integration with other apps is very good.

I cannot understate how much Drivetrain has made my life easier, and how core it is to my workflow, particularly during high pressure times such as generating reports for potential investors. If there were issues in the data, the team jumped on the issues right away and were solved overnight. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Drivetrain?

I still haven't used the forecasting tool to its full capabilities due to resource constraints internally, so we still use Excel to dynamically change our forecast and multi-year plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Drivetrain?

The Drivetrain tool is highly customizable and can be tailored to our unique business needs. Internally, we’ve received great feedback from both report users and model users on Drivetrain’s enhanced capabilities and the insights it provides to our business, as well as usability. Its modeling flexibility has significantly improved our ability to budget and forecast with speed and accuracy, as well as build scenarios and create new versions on a whim.

Our team was prioritizing several large projects at the beginning of the year, and had to extend our implementation timeline, which Drivetrain was very accommodating in pushing that out and still getting us up and running on the platform timely.

Since we adopted Drivetrain recently (within the past year), I’d be remiss if I didn’t call out the most impressive aspect of the experience: the customer service. Our organization went from budgeting in Excel to budgeting in a top-of-the-line software that is Drivetrain, and there were—and still are—a lot of learning curves and mistakes along the way. The Drivetrain team, specifically Nikhil, has helped us work through issues at all hours of the day. Drivetrain is a relatively new product, so it does come with some bugs and occasional issues that pop up from time to time, which is to be expected. However, the open lines of communication with Drivetrain, along with an excellent and responsive customer service team, make a real difference.
