## About Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)
Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (MKE) is the industry’s leading enterprise Kubernetes platform, designed to provide organizations with total control over their strategic infrastructure. Powering some of the world’s largest production clusters, MKE 4 introduces a 100% open-source, "composable" architecture based on k0s. This shift allows platform engineers to precisely tailor their stack by swapping in validated CNCF ecosystem components for networking, ingress, and storage, avoiding the "black box" limitations of proprietary distributions. MKE delivers an "enterprise-ready" experience out of the box, featuring a convenient web UI, declarative lifecycle management, and automated drift correction. It uniquely supports a converged infrastructure, allowing organizations to manage both containerized workloads and virtual machines (via KubeVirt) on a single platform. For mission-critical environments, MKE maintains a rigorous focus on security with FIPS 140-2 encryption and a hardened, DISA STIG-certified foundation. Whether running on-premises, in the cloud, or at the edge, MKE provides the stability, performance, and flexibility required for modern cloud-native applications and generative AI workloads.

 ### 2. Platform for running Swarm/Kubernetes workloads

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michal W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The good parts of Docker Engerprise are: Theability to run both Docker Swarm and Kubernetes workloads which makes it flexible, Solid RBAC system that allows for powerful multi tenancy with groups, permissions and users. Regular and relatively painless updates and lastly, effective and quick support from Mirantis. It's useful to be able to use both the CLI as well as the web UI. Docker UCP and DTR work together very well. API access lets you to effectively monitor and automate your deployments and container image builds.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Some of the things that need improving are: The confusing licensing model, which is a mix of node and CPU licenses. Moreover Mirantis has sent us two license files as we upgraded the number of nodes, however only one license file can be uploaded into UCP. Support for Windows Server 2016 is being phased out which is understandable, but would be a welcome feature to keep for customers who still run some legacy containers. Slight UI glitches in UCP/DTR, for example some strange search/filter behaviour and inability to stack tables by some columns. This could be specific to our setup, but we have experienced occasional Calico errors, even without running any kubernes workloads.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Give it a try, There is an option to try before you buy with a trial.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an effective solution at tacklling challenges that come with creating a decentralised, highly available platform for containerised applications. If I had to highlight a single quality that helps us solve problems, it would be flexibility. We were able to accomplish everything we aimed to accomplish on Docker Enterprise.

 ### 7. Great Cost Savings & Increased Productivity with Standardization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav A. | Senior Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

1) Increased Productivity with Standardization :-
The biggest advantage of a Docker-based architecture is standardization which allows all the engineers to work in a production parity environment. By standardizing the service infrastructure across the entire pipeline, the team members can efficiently analyze and fix bugs within the application. This increases the team’s productivity as it enables them to focus on feature development rather than wasting time on bug identification and fixing.

2) Portability :-
Docker containers are able to run virtually anywhere thereby easing the development and deployment on operating systems, virtual machines, developer’s machine, in data centers on-premises or in the public cloud. The widespread popularity of the Docker image format for containers further helps with portability.

3) CI for Faster Deployments :-
Docker enables teams to build a container image and use that same image across every step of the deployment process. Also, Docker creates a container for every process and does not boot the Operating System. This allows developers to run the non- dependent steps in parallel and thus reduce the deployment time drastically.

4) Ease of Management :-
When in a Docker container, images run in the same way irrespective of the server or the laptop. Hence developers do not need to spend time on setting up environments, debugging environment-specific issues, and have a portable and easy-to-set-up codebase. This not only saves time but also makes the production infrastructure more reliable and easy to maintain.

5) Security :-
Applications that are running on Docker containers are completely isolated and segregated from each other. Hence no Docker container has any connection to the processes running inside the other container. Now in case if any one application is hacked, there will be no impact on the applications that are running on the other containers. Thus Docker ensures that all the applications are running securely independent to each other.

6) Portability across Platforms :-
Docker’s portability across platforms is highly embraced by all major cloud computing providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Compute Platform (GCP). The reason behind this is that Docker containers can run inside any cloud instance provided that the host OS supports Docker. As a result, a container running on an Amazon instance can easily be ported to a difference cloud instance while ensuring similar consistency and functionality is achieved.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Do Not Use Docker if You Need to Boost Speed
Do Not Use Docker if You Prioritize Security
Do Not Use Docker if You Develop a Desktop GUI Application
Do Not Use Docker if You Want to Light Up Development and Debugging
Do Not Use Docker if You Need to Use Different Operating Systems or Kernels
Do Not Use Docker if You Have a Lot of Valuable Data to Store
Do Not Use Docker if You Are Looking for The Easiest Technology to Manage

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Docker Enterprise Edition simplifies the IT environment, making application updates and changes much easier since containers run independently of the infrastructure. In turn, that improves application reliability and availability, and makes it easier for IT to proactively manage security risks.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portability
Once you have tested your containerized application you can deploy it to any other system where Docker is running and you can be sure that your application will perform exactly as it did when you tested it.

Performance
Although virtual machines are an alternative to containers, the fact that containers do not contain an operating system (whereas virtual machines do) means that containers have much smaller footprints than virtual machines, are faster to create, and quicker to start.

Agility
The portability and performance benefits offered by containers can help you make your development process more agile and responsive. Enhancing your continuous integration and continuous delivery processes to take advantage of containers and technology such as Enterprise Developer Build Tools for Windows makes it easier for you to deliver the right software at the right time. Enterprise Developer Build Tools for Windows is a component of Enterprise Developer which provides all of the functionality of Enterprise Developer to enable you to compile, build, and test COBOL code but without the overhead of an IDE.

Isolation
A Docker container that contains one of your applications also includes the relevant versions of any supporting software that your application requires. If other Docker containers contain applications that require different versions of the same supporting software, that isn't a problem because the different Docker containers are totally independent of one other.

This also means that as you move through the various stages of your development lifecycle, you can have total confidence that an image you create during development will perform exactly the same as it moves through testing and potentially to your users.

Scalability
You can quickly create new containers if demand for your applications requires them. When using multiple containers you can take advantage of a range of container management options. See the Docker documentation for more information on these options.

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Visibility of containers and nodes along with CPU and statuses of each.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Everything else. Split releases, then manditory to upgrade to 3. Extremely unstable upgrading process, unstable DTR/UCP, constant running issues within the enviornment, additional overheard of Kubernetes and no seen benefit.

Other solutions make K8s and Docker much more accessible more simply and user friendly. Never used the service creation menu in DockerEE UCP.

Support has always been without RCA, with Mirantis acquisition its unclear what DockerEE's future will be. We have to go away from it because of that.

Simple and relatively easy to deploy and maintain.
Secure and stable platform for production use.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

UCP UI needs a major renovation. UCP API is also stagnated and with limited use cases.
K8S UI is only a "kubectl apply" alternative and lacking any tools for Ops guys, in general I would not recommend it to novice K8S users.
Observability is very limited, integrations with other systems is not well documented (if at all), e.x GitLab, Jenkins-X, Prometheus, ELK, CSI, CNI

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

It's the fastest path to have a working K8S cluster for production use.
Not for novice users, you need to have experience in Docker and K8S to get value out of it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sushant K. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker is an open source micro service creation and management platform.

Application security: Security becomes a baked in functional property of Docker. If an app is dockerized the probability of other apps that are outside of the container executing remote code is drastically minimized. This ensures that we get application security by default instead of investing time and money into pen testing or code audits.

Infinite scalability: If a web application or backend in dockerized, it can run on a simple low powered device like the raspberry pi to the most high end of servers easily. This ensures that deployment pains are eliminated.

Infrastructure as code: This is the latest paradigm where the entire deployment infrastructure is set in stone as code and committed into version control so that users in the whole organization are are on the same page when it comes to development infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

There is nothing to dislike about docker, I am absolutely love with it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Santhosh K. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker is a platform that can wear multiple hats.

1) They can provide developers with isolated development environments: Handling multiple conflicting dependencies , languages and libraries is a nightmare, one tool which we wish to run will require Phantom JS version 1.0 and another might require 2.0 and we might have to run these two tools at the same time, but using the docker platform helps us isolate the development environments and it enables us to run these two tools simultaneously and painlessly.

2) It works in my machine, It should work everywhere : If I containerize my application and if I give it to another person, Docker guarantees that my code will work as intended with zero setup. This peace of mind is an asset to every developer. It will scale to infinity easily.

3) App security: Even if malicious actors try to compromise the application security, docker provides isolated environments and other so these actors can not cause much damage. This gives peace of mind as a functional property.

Nothing is better than free and docker is absolutely free to use. It has a vibrant developer community and every single line of code is available for public audit. The docker platform's command line interface is feature rich, it helps us with container networking, container storage management and deployment.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker is one of the most brilliant pieces of software ever created and it does not have many shortcoming, there is no alternative to compare it with.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Kubernetes can go hand in hand with docker.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Application abstraction, setting multiple dev environments are achieved.

**Reviewed by:** Yassine F. | Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker is opensource you don't have to pay a penny to get it. It runs on most famous Linux platforms smoothly (Ubuntu, centos, fedora, Opensuse ...). Docker installation is extremely easy with a simple apt or yum command you ill get it up and running. The concept of docker is also quite interesting where the virtuaöization is done on the OS level which means multiple containers (the software unit that docker uses) can run in an isolated way and share same resources (the Linux kernel). Also, docker makes it easy to create a container through a "Dockerfile" where you need only to specify how your docker image should contain and these files are simple and easy to write, understand and to maintain.
Docker containers solve the problem of dependencies. In fact, developers should not worry anymore about their application's dependencies and how the application will behave in production in another server or on another OS. Indeed, the docker image contains all the dependencies and configuration the application needs to run smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The learning curve is quite significant. In fact, a good Linux understanding is required and Ip networking basic understanding is also required to understand different types of networks. The CLI provided by docker is not that easy and needs some time to master it.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

- Docker is open-source and easy to use. It looks complicated at first sight but since you get your hands on it you ill like it
- Make your dockerfiles simple and understandable

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- application creation
- application packaging
- application deployment
- application monitoring and logging

It helps save a lot of time and it allows to use a lot of cool fancy technology with such an ease. It adds a lot of speed to the work i do and saves the frustration of setting up tools manually.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The OS level dependencies is something that can be worked upon , a lot of complex things are required to be set at the kernel level in order for docker to work.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Make sure to use the Docker platform on Linux rather than on windows and then utilize the linux kernel.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy application setup will be the biggest problem solved , the manual installation of softwares take time and docker solve all those problems for me.

 ### 34. Containers vs VMs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Semiconductors | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

It's an essential tool for web and full stack developers. Great integration with web technologies, used it with node JS, Postgres, and front end JS. You can think of containers as VM and you have full(somehow) control on the automation of tests and configuration with yaml files.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

When I first started, I have to read a lot to connect the configurations, like how the docker-compose works. There are lot's of materials online but it's kind of hard if you don't exactly know what you are looking for.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

It's a great tool, can integrate almost all web technologies in my opinion. It will beat VMs in terms of functionality.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very useful in automated testing. Working full stack on both frontend and backend, spinning a docker container helps efficiency by a lot so you will not need to setup individual configurations like servers, database, etc on your machine.

 ### 35. Docker Platform the turning point

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Building Materials | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker Platform has been a real innovation in the field of development, maintenance, control, and distribution of software. With Docker Platform, it is possible to virtualize operating system images directly on the hardware of the server hosting the Docker Platform server. In this way, the Docker images can be very lightweight and performant.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker Platform is primarily a technology for Unix systems, it is opening up to the Microsoft world but does not yet have full support in this regard, in fact Docker Platform cannot be started on Windows servers prior to version 2016.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Docker Platform cannot be started on Windows servers prior to version 2016.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the company, we use Docker Platform as the main engine for the Kubernetes clusters that we use in internal environments, and for clients both on cloud and on premises.

 ### 36. Docker, the best containerization platform available out there

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The ease at which you can package your software along with dependencies into a Docker image, share it with anyone and run it anywhere

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Mounting of volumes and the current working directory is still a pain and not an easy concept to teach others

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot of my current work involves containerization using Docker. I build bioinformatics tools and pipelines and in order to deploy them on cloud or any server, I use Docker.

 ### 37. The best and most convenient virtualisation tool in the game

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker has made virtualization easy. It was so revolutionary that it made Linux distributions even more powerful.

Docker has the ability to make containers (VM) at ease. You can pull images and run them as a container and you can limit the containers by giving them parameters and setting their boundaries. You can limit their RAM and CPU usage and give them idle time etc.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

There are little to none disadvantages about using docker. Most of the disadvantages people experience aren't docker related but more related to the virtualization. Example given, changing parameters in the VM won't have an influence once the machine reboots.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

If you haven't used Docker, it might seem like a challenge at first. But I can guarantee you, it's not a challenge at all. It's so easy to setup and the reward is enormous. I would never stop

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have ran multiple servers for hosting sites and hosting services and Docker has made my life a lot easier. They made sure I could setup services in an instance without too much effort. It is CPU friendly because of the balancing and it optimized the use of our servers even better.

 ### 38. Docker is the bedrock of the work that I do.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker allows me to build an application and its configuration and not have to worry about deployment. By decoupling deployment and infrastructure concerns from software development, I am free to focus on solutions.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker by itself is incomplete without a container orchestration platform. However, it is perfectly positioned so solve the problem it is solving.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Do it.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving the problem of software deployment and configuration as well as efficient resource utilization.

 ### 39. A platform to distribute software components easily

Be aware when using many different networks, containers if not correctly connected cannot communicate between them.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can deploy many applications on a single server easily and in a standard way

 ### 40. It's XXI century guys - just use Docker!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam . | Architekt rozwiązań IT - Departament Rozwoju Infrastruktury, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker is a leading container platfform applicable for any type of IT task. If you are developer you can easily run your software inside dedicated container without worrying about tipical syslop tasks and configuration. If you'r responsible for large microservice system deployment you can run it with docker and some additional orchestration solution like DC/OS, AWS ECS or Docker Cloud. Docker guarantee scalable, reliable and secure runtime environment for your daily workflows. Thanks to Docker Hub and literally thousand of pre-burn images you can run almost any software in the manner of minutes or even seconds.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

It's actually nothing to love about docker. Only problem that i encounter so far was with vulnerability scanning inside docker containers but right now it's solved by Docker Securiity Scanning available in docker cloud.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Doesn't matter what you do - try using docker. You will find place to use it and you will be amazed.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've migrated wholl our environment, more than 100 virtual machines and about 400 apps into cloud and run them inside docker container. No more hardware failures, sleeples nights, HA build 'by design', application separation ... every sysop dream!

 ### 41. virtualizza il contenitore sulla mia macchina

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Con Docker è possibile avere un livello di virtualizzazione direttamente sull'hardware della mia macchina. Questo significa che le virtualizzazioni sono molto veloci, stabili e performanti.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

docker Non mi piace che non si installi bene su tutte le macchine Windows, specialmente su quei server più vecchi.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use docker as a base for our microservices architecture, through kubernetes and then rancher we orchestrate the containers that run on docker precisely.

 ### 42. One Stop for All Microservices

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham S. | DevOps Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker containers ensure consistency across multiple development and release cycles, standardizing your environment.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Although the core Docker platform is open source, some container products don't work with other ones — usually due to competition between the companies that back them. For example, OpenShift, Red Hat's container-as-a-service platform, only works with the Kubernetes orchestrator.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have multiple services running in different VMs which costs a lot to the company and very difficult to manage. Hence in order to have a better solution in place, we moved to docker containers, where-in i can use a high-end VM to host multiple instances of same service at low lost better management and monitoring.

 ### 43. Docker is Simple

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

the learning curve but once you learn it is

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

It is amazing I would buy it again. Just learn it,

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Containerizing old window apps

 ### 44. Amazing experience once it is up-and-running

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The Docker Compose feature within Docker is by far its best feature. You can spin up a large number of containers and environments with Docker Compose, and all it takes is one single configuration file.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The worst part of Docker is that it has a steep learning curve. If you have nobody to help you learn, you will have to utilize the online documentation in order to learn how to fix your errors and write the configuration files. It may take you weeks until you can have a fully-functioning Docker environment, depending on how many microservices you need to run.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

If you know someone who has used Docker, then make sure to consult them with issues before using the online documentation.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Docker allows our development team to develop code in an environment that is exactly like our production environment. This speeds up development time, makes it easy to debug environment-specific bugs, and decreases the time needed to migrate code from development to production.

 ### 45. Docker the life saver of developers and sysadmins

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

I have been using docker for the last 3 months. I found that the most helpful about docker platform is it help software developers and sysadmin for deploying their application in cloud and running that in any platform. Docker comes with a develop, deploy and run strategy where developers can give their code for testing purpose without changing their code for making it run in different OS. So it saves a lot of time and overhead for developers like me.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

I have been using Docker for the last 4 months. I never found a disadvantages of using Docker platform.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using docker for running my code with container.

 ### 46. The base of everything nowadays

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guiomar T. | Innovation and QA projects Manager , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

It's really simple to get started with (when you already know some linux) and it provides lot of advanced features to simplify managements.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

In Windows environments docker doesn't work as good as in unix. And windows containers also aren't at the same level of unix containers.

**Recommendations to others considering Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise):**

Start with the bare Docker, and move to Kubernetes to improve even more the automatization, simplify scalabily of services.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently I have my environments containerised so deploying new applications or tools, as well as update versions are really simple. Also I can have all the environment in repositories with version control. So any modification is registered, and versions can be reverted.

 ### 47. Very useful for creating lightweight virtual containers on linux virtual machines

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

I found it very flexible and easy to stand up a docker container that provides services such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Karaf, etc.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

My only complaint is when a container crashes, had to sometimes put in an infinite loop at the bottom of a bash script to keep it alive so I could find out the error.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of establishing repeatable containers that are easily deployed.

 ### 48. Docker as substitute

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leandro S. | DevOps Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Docker is the best tool if you want to build some data containers and keep building and destroy your containers anytime you want. It's easy to manage and deal with, you can simply install it with Docker for Desktop and start run your containers with the deserved application.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

You need to keep learning, the technology evolves too fast. You also need knowledge about networking and filesystem.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

portability, reuse, and application isolation

 ### 49. A great solution for an out of the box development environment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy D. | Junior Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

Very easy to use. A single dockerfile or docker-compose allows you to set up multiple containers and allows them to work in tandem. There's no need to deal with host names and IP addresses (can be accessed directly using the container name), which is a huge bonus. It also helps that the community support is great.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The differences between versions (Of docker-compose for example) are very significant, and requires rewrites to work with newer versions.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping make my team's deployments more scalable and secure. It's also a much lighter solution compared to a full VM, which we were using previously.

 ### 50. Excellent development and deployment platform

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

The portability of containers and ability to quickly begin work on a new app in it's open environment on any machine is incredibly beneficial.

**What do you dislike about Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise)?**

File access to mounted volumes with Docker for Windows is incredibly slow.

**What problems is Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (formerly Docker Enterprise) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of development environment setup and app deployment.
