## About Devolutions PowerShell Universal
Devolutions PowerShell Universal (PSU) is a platform for building, running, and managing PowerShell-based automation. It allows administrators and developers to take existing PowerShell scripts and turn them into scheduled jobs, REST and WebSocket APIs, interactive dashboards, and internal web applications from a single product, without adding a separate web or API stack. The platform centralizes script hosting, scheduling, execution history, and logging in an administration console, with browser-based editing, an integrated debugger, Git integration, and a Visual Studio Code extension. PowerShell functions can be published as REST APIs with token-based authentication and OpenAPI documentation. Dashboards and custom pages are built in PowerShell using a built-in UI framework. Access is governed by role-based access control across scripts, dashboards, APIs, and scheduled jobs, with authentication through local accounts or external identity providers such as LDAP, SAML, and OpenID Connect. PowerShell Universal runs on Windows (as a service or under IIS), Linux (systemd or container), Docker, Azure App Service or Container Apps, and macOS for local development. It operates entirely on-premises without requiring external network connections, which supports air-gapped and regulated environments. It is offered in two editions: a free Developer edition that includes the full feature set for local development only, and a paid per-server Server license required for production workloads. Originally created by Adam Driscoll, PowerShell Universal is now developed and maintained by Devolutions.
