  ### 1. SQL Superpower Unlocked: My Confession as a dbForge SQL Complete Addict

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rohit B. | SDE 2, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Forget the days of battling messy SQL queries and cryptic errors! dbForge SQL Complete is like a magical coding buddy who swoops in and saves the day. It remembers all the keywords and functions you're struggling to recall, suggests smart JOIN clauses so your tables play nice, and even formats your code to look like a pro wrote it. Debugging? Think Sherlock Holmes of SQL, sniffing out bugs and pointing you straight to the fix. Plus, it saves you tons of time with reusable code snippets – no more repetitive typing! Seriously, dbForge is like an efficiency superpower injection for your SQL skills. Whether you're a seasoned coder or just starting out, it's a game-changer, making your development life smoother, cleaner, and even a little bit more fun. Trust me, your fingers (and your sanity) will thank you.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

While powerful, dbForge SQL Complete introduces new features, shortcuts, and menus. Adapting to these might take time and effort, potentially slowing down initial workflows until users become proficient. Some colleagues report occasional performance slowdowns or hiccups in SSMS or Visual Studio when using the tool, especially when dealing with large databases or complex queries.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a Data Analyst, efficiency is my middle name. Every minute saved analyzing data is a minute closer to uncovering that next golden insight. And that's where dbForge SQL Complete comes in. It's like a superhero sidekick for my queries, solving a ton of problems and boosting my productivity through the roof.

Gone are the days of staring at a blank screen, struggling to remember obscure functions or wrestle with messy code. dbForge auto-completes like a telepathic coder, formats my queries into shining examples of clarity, and even builds those tricky JOIN clauses on autopilot. It's cut hours off my weekly workflow, letting me focus on the real magic – crafting insightful analyses that wow the stakeholders.

But it's not just about speed. dbForge cleans up my thought process too. Debugging is a breeze, fixing errors before they even become a roadblock. Plus, I can reuse my genius with code snippets, streamlining those repetitive tasks and getting back to the juicy data faster.

Ultimately, dbForge empowers me to do what I do best – analyze data, not fight with code. It's made me a sharper, more efficient analyst, and that's a benefit I wouldn't trade for the world.

  ### 3. The productivity enhancer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I've been using this product for years and it's literally the first thing I install on a work machine after SSMS. The formatting and snippets alone are great, but code completion and wildcard expansion...this software increases my productivity by a significant amount.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

It does have a bit of a learning curve to unlock the full potential of it, but once you're there it's great.

I do wish it handled code-completion and the like for MERGE statements better, that is the only area I'd say the product is lacking, but even this is easy to work around, generating column lists isn't hard to do.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Built-in features with the MSSQL dev environment are lacking, sometimes missing altogether. The built-in code completion for SSMS is slow and keeping it refreshed can be buggy. Code Snippets are not intuitive in SSMS, and as such many developers and DBAs spend a significant amount of their time doing tasks that are tedious, like typing out names of columns, or retyping the same basic template of code for many different ETL operations. This product addresses these bottlenecks in productivity by giving dev/dbas the ability automate the tedious stuff.

It also promotes consistency. In a team environment, making sure code is formatted consistently is important. This product's built-in formatter does this very well.

The products competing with this tend to be a lot more "enterprisey" in their toolset. This product does not have a bunch of flash or flare to it, the interface is basic and unobtrusive. On top of that, for the features I used, this product was the most competitively priced. I've been able to sell this very easily to several CIO/CTOs as well as keep an individual license for my hobby and side work.

  ### 4. Works Great and Helps Write SQL Queries Quicker

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wayne H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The intellisense is wonderful. It's more thorough than the built in intellisense from MS and is much more robust. I love the ability to quickly use canned scripts for things like insertions or modifications.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The tab function to accept the currently selected item seems to be buggy. As I type and hit tab, sometimes it actually tabs in the script instead of using the current SQL Prompt item.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes it much easier to write SQL scripts as all of the information is at my fingertips instead of using the explorer to find it.

  ### 5. Fantastic productivity improvement for SQL server management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karlis V. | Head of Business System Development (Citadele Leasing Baltic), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

SQL Complete comes with huge improvements for SSMS starting with code formatter, improved experience for any interaction: snippets, formatting of code, abbility to debug, finding invalid objects, decrypt, write/execute unit tests, code versioning and many more. They have improved everything - it is impossible to imagine using SSMS without Devart.
Also support is available and helpful.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

* command line for finding invalid objects would be welcome. UI tools is great and best available, but command line would allow to integrate it to CI/CD processes.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It significantly improves productivity of SQL development in any step.

  ### 6. Must have for SQL Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

SQLComplete is the must have for SQL development. Auto joins, column and table suto suggest really speed up query creation. The execution history is also a life saver. SSMS does have auto suggest but SQL Complete takes it to the next level. The speed of SQL Complete auo suggesting and joining is amazing.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Searching of execution history is quite slow but not something to complain too mucb about given the ease and time savings SQL Complete provides in other areas.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Auto suggest and auto join really speeds up query creation. Auto joins also standardises query format as well. Also the speed of SQL Complete (excluding execution history search) is amazing.

**Reviewed by:** Mark L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I found suggested syntax and join suggestions a game changer when I was learning SQL. Syntax is configurable and the GUI is accessible for users with visual difficulties.

The search function added in 2023 was huge in figuring out where data resides in unformiliar tables.

Simply a great tool.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I would like to see SQL Complete connect multiple data sources where common data can be linked.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Complete allows me to write queries for routine processes without the need to initiate a support case with the vendor to create a custom report. I use it to find data anomilies to verify integrety.

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Code completion works great; formatting is also a must have.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Sometimes it slows down SSMS quite a bit. Not sure what is causing this; but I had to uninstall SQL Complete a couple times to get performance back up.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not sure if there is a current bug list; but this is a pretty mature product already. Outside of the SSMS sluggishness, I have no complaints.

  ### 11. One tool to rule them all

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edward N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

All of the tools are combined into one integrated UI which provides for a smooth, consistent feel.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I have not found a downside yet in the product.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Azure being used more heavily, having a good tool to help in supporting the Azure databases is required. SSMS Studio seems to be falling behind in features and ADS requires you to remember way to many shortcuts. SQL Complete combines the best features of both programs, and then builds on top of them. The SQL Compare/Data Compare tools are fast and efficent. No need to open other programs that you have to pay additional.

  ### 12. Really Helpfull Tool

  ### 13. An excellent that I didn't know I needed

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

SQL complete made it easy to migrate databases from development to production. It helped with schema comparing as well as ensuring seed data changes were identifiable and copied across. The data compare tool is very impressive

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

There's not much that I didn't like, the only criticism I would raise was the resource usage of the SSMS extension / plugin. It seemed to slow down SSMS.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have a strong CI/CD process as a small team with a limited budget. We have multiple production environments and each one differs slightly from the others. Simple things like seed data in the list tables was a challenge to manage and it would take hours to prepare migration scripts for a new deployment. While the process isn't removed entirely, using the data comparison tool saves hours on each large deployment.

  ### 14. Amazing

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The easy way of making and testing complex SQL queries, formatting and editing existing data works perfectly

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

It can't edit jobs in SQL, still need to open SSMS for this.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compex SQL queries for use later on in web development

  ### 19. Must have for SSMS

  ### 20. Excellent Options, Fast Support, Great Value

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David S. | BI Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I like the amount of customization that is offered. I can create different profiles, and because I work on multiple client systems, this comes in handy. One of the features I discovered and have employed is the auto alias. I was even able to configure the option to ignore the three-letter identifier we use for all of our custom tables. I also appreciate that, when I disable SQL Complete, I get the default intelli-sense in SSMS and VS back. This is incredibly helpful. When I tried this with other similar products (RG) this was not the case. When I have questions, I have written support and receive answers very quickly. I believe for the amount of options vs cost, SQL Complete has the best value hands down.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I have not run into any issues I would consider a dislike. The few issues I had, I found I just needed to tweak my settings and it works perfectly for me. Would highly reccomend!

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a consultant, I work on many different SQL Server environments. I am able to craft setting profiles to fit each unique situation I may find my-self in. I am always finding new ways to employ the available features and it has saved me a lot of time writing my own code. Standardizing the format of old code via the Format feature, and making others run-on code more legible for me to work with.

  ### 21. SQL is not Complete without SQL Complete

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan V. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

SQL Complete has become a mandatory part of our IDE. It is not simply an "add-on" but a necessary tool expanding the flexibility of SSMS in essential ways. By allowing the creation of code templates for repetitive code writing known as "snippets", we have been able to reduce the time required to write code and ensure more consistent code structure across our platform. This also reduces the number of coding errors in everything from writing new scripts using snippets, to writing ad-hoc CRUD actions since SQL Complete fills in much of what is needed for you. SQL Complete really shines when needing to navigate to object definitions or scripting out records from one environment (client / production) to another (test / dev). What do we like best about SQL Complete? All of it. What do we not like...environments where SQL Complete is not loaded. Once you have it, you will find yourself missing it where it does not exist.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The update process still feels a bit finicky when I have Visual Studio open, being that it does not like to update (I have to close everything). I also have found the variables in snippets seem to give trouble when I have multiple variables on the same line of code (it will tab to the wrong location). These are nitpicks at best.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Code Consistency, Error Prevention, Data Extraction, Development Times

  ### 22. Great tool for QA

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jozef R. | Professional Services Leader, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

An extensive list of features which can be customised in SQL formatting.
Much better intelligence than native in SSMS.
Profile management and ability to share among the team members.
Generator for CRUD operations.
The Colouring of environments helps me keep my sanity when working in a PROD environment.
Notification if the script is finished with success or failure helps me better multitasking without staring and waiting if the script runs or has failed.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Profile management.
Sometimes doesn't refresh the meta-data and stops providing intelligent suggestions.
Intellisense can be in wider pop-up windows.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quality assurance and productivity are the main advantages of this tool. It helps me keep the same code formatting. This enables fast and effective code reading when coding but also during bug fixing.
Many other features help to improve my code-writing productivity.

  ### 23. dbForge SQL Complete is good and recommend to everyone

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2023

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I am using dbForge Schema Compare. I liked the interface and ease of use.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I would make little easy on the creating the company projects

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compare the schemas on different environments

  ### 24. An absolute requirement for anyone who writes SQL

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek W. | Director of Software Development, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

SQL Complete is an incredible tool. It's absolutely a necessary tool for anyone who writes SQL on a regular basis.

The best features are the auto-complete. I like to call it Intellisense on steroids. It just makes completing queries incredibly easy. Joins are automatically filled in, and you don't worry about typos.
Other great features include the SQL Formatter, Snippets, and go to definition.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

There really aren't too many downsides to SQL Complete. It's a great product overall.

I think the only possible issue might be is that it uses quite a few resources and may slow down SSMS and Visual Studio a little bit.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a huge productivity boost for my team and me. We write queries faster, and more accurately, and have consistency in all our formatting. I can't recommend this tool enough.

  ### 25. An Excellent Tool - Useful, Indispensable - This should be on any developer's toolbelt

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew M. | Full-Stack Software Engineer-Level 3, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The IntelliSense feature of SQL Complete is far better than what is offered by native SQL Server... this along with the fact that I can format my SQL statements via configuration, makes my life so much easier - especially when I can take code provided by other developers and format it the way that I prefer to read my SQL code. The fact that table names/columns show up in a ToolTip when you mouse over is another invaluable feature. This is a tool that I personally pay for and have maintained for years, as it is such a great boon to my development skills. SQL Complete makes me much faster than other developers that don't use the tool. The fact that JOIN conditions pop up automatically makes exploration of unfamiliar databases such a quick task!

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Honestly, there isn't anything that I really dislike about this tool. If anything it would be the cost ... ! But doesn't that old true with everything ? It's absolutely worth the price, the value, and the features. They constantly upgrade it and add new and useful features. I would not be without this feature.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Complete solves the problem of not only speed, but accuracy for me. It is much fastet to develop SQL queries using SQL Complete and I haven't even touched the surface of all of it's capabilities, including templates and snippets!

  ### 26. Useful tool to complement your SSMS functionality

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Iraklis D. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

A much needed tool that enhances someone's SSMS experience which it should have been built-in. Nice what it does and does it well though quite simple and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Prices are absurd for the features they offer. Also, the SQL tools are much more expensive than their PostgreSQL counterparts which probably stems due to the fact that the company considers that clients who pay for SQL server licensing have more money to spend for their tools. Also, other tools like SQL Prompt have a much more sensible pricing (SQL Prompt £129 vs dbForge SQL Complete £229). I believe if their pricing was more sensible it would help people with a smaller income to buy and use their tools (e.g. personal vs company subscriptions).

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides some useful features that complement SSMS core functionality. Other than that, nothing exciting that you can expect from an SQL query parser tool :)

  ### 27. Love this tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark H. | Sr. Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I've been using SQL complete for years. What I find so valuable is the consistency in the experience as well as innovative new sql completion options. As a leader that doesn't have the cycles to know every data set in my organization it's awesome that I can type in keywords to remind me where a data source, column may be, and what data type is contained in the data set.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Frankly, nothing. I'm very pleased with the tooling, and intend on using indefinitely. Thanks for your work here!

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving me time to remember or know all data sets to then do analytics.

  ### 28. Must have for all Dev teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma H. | Software Developer (.NET), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

It improves SSMS to the point that it is usable. MS's SSMS is woeful, and their replacement "Azure DataStudio" is full of "flashy UI" that is pointless. The one thing I would like to be able to do is to have the results displayed in separate tabs. But that is a minor point. SSMS does not have the ability to block scripts that have DROP TABLE.... or DELETE SomeTable. Also SQL Complete's tab highlighting is far more powerful and is very reliable - it even puts the highlight colour on the object tree.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I have only one dislike, it is only a niggle, but I would like to be able to display results in separate tabs.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Makes SSMS usable.

  ### 29. Great Productivity Tool for SQL

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Code templates are great, as are autosuggestions. The formating feature is cool but it doesn't honour indentations that I use for nested logic.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

"Find Invalid Objects" does not work for Azure-hosted databases. The databases for an Azure connection don't show up.

In SSMS, you must refresh the object explorer for SQL Complete to recognize new objects.

The tool is so well thought of and highly engineered, it's a pleasure to use, and it improves your productivity by a significant margin.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

For the dbForge Studio installation/update, DevArt needs to know that the anti-virus in Windows needs to be disabled before such activity; this is a significant issue that must be addressed.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The intelligent auto-complete can be a lifesaver at times; also, the completeness of the product in terms of covering the SQL language is rather impressive.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harald G. | software engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2021

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

While I am writing SQL-statements SQL Complete fills all my gaps of knowledge of correct spelling and references - I no longer have to check why the field "AddressWrk" does not work when the field's name in fact "AddressWork" etc.

I have had a small problem with SQL Complete recently that showed me how much of the nitty-gritty of definitions I have to know to write working statements - thankfully dbForge corrected that with the current release and i never want to write SQL without it in the future.

With SL Complete I can focus on the task without losing brain power to the details of correct syntax.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I think SQL Complete is a bit too expensive. On the other hand I cannot live without it.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With SQL Complete I can write SQL statements real fast - that is something I often need in my line of work.
Copying the results in different formats speeds up my work when I have to present the data.

  ### 37. Extremely useful product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2021

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Auto complete, formatting everything about it.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Autocomplete won work if the previous statement has any errors when you have multiple statements in the page. It would be nice if you look at the current context and allow autocomplete on that particular statement. Also, the initial DB objects loading time is high. Not sure if there is any better way.

**Recommendations to others considering dbForge SQL Complete:**

defnitely worth giving it a try. I wish i could buy a pro version to utilize it fully.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not that high-speed typer, so this is definitely useful in completing the statements and saving time for me.

  ### 38. A Complete Tool

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

This is a must-have tool for SQL Server developers. It covers all the bases from automatically suggesting objects to code suggestions, making it easier to code your linked servers. I particularly like the ability to see object info at a glance.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Nothing. I've used it for 3 years and it continues to improve!

**Recommendations to others considering dbForge SQL Complete:**

This is a must-have tool for me.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It simply makes TSQL coding easier and faster.

  ### 39. Invaluable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathon H. | Senior Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

SQL Complete is THE solution for autocompletion/intellisense for SQL. I honestly could not do my job without this tool and it has allowed me to code at speeds that let me solve complex problems in time critical situations.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The only complaint I have is that I have to refresh the cache after creating new tables and such. This is not a big deal though since they have a hotkey for it.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Complete allows me to write clear, consistent SQL code without having to worry about syntax or lookup the exact spelling of object names. The column list popup allows me to explore a new database merely by starting to query it. It basically turns a blank SSMS window into an interactive code console.

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> SQL Complete supports timer-based automatic metadata updates.
You can configure the time for updating the metadata in SQL Complete -> Suggestions in the Refresh section.
We would like to note that using the "Detect changes on a server before refreshing local cache" option you can configure to update metadata only in case there are new objects on the server.

  ### 40. Personal Review of dbForge SQL Complete

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg R. | Solution Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

We have a standard format that we like to use for many of our Insert/Update/Delete procedures and many other areas as well so the Snippets manager from SQL Complete allows us to ensure a standard when new developers come on board. Hard to really pick a favorite as it was a toss up between snippets and custom formatting.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

In the past I have had some memory issues with the SQL Complete document sessions but dbForge worked with me to eventually determine the issue and they patched it up and since then everything has been running really smoothly.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I mentioned earlier standardization is huge so the problem of having procedures built and formatted differently is rectified by ensuring all my developers use SQL Complete

  ### 41. It is a license NIGHTMARE. Never change laptops or upgrade anything unless you want hell.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2021

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

You can make your own rules for formatting.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Every time I upgrade to the newer version, there is a lot of trouble. Hours of hassle. All the time saved is lost. I have the license, but apparently, I have to do hours of contortions if I dare to do anything differently than they think it should be done.

**Recommendations to others considering dbForge SQL Complete:**

Don't switch computers. Even if you work for multiple companies as I do, make sure the same company buys all products, they get confused. And never upgrade.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When working, it is easier to read code.

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> Hello,

Thank you for leaving your comment, and please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

The last SQL Complete release introduced a new license activation system (it will make future license management simpler). Unfortunately, switching to this new activation system also suggested the necessity of additional actions on the user’s side during the upgrade.

We did our best to make this upgrade as smooth as possible. We sent 2 letters to all users to inform about those peculiarities and provide them with detailed instructions on the license activation. Unfortunately, it turned up to be insufficient.

We are deeply sorry that you faced these difficulties during the product upgrade. We assure you that it was a one-time issue that will never happen again in the future.

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2021

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Thoughtfully designed and easy to use, yet highly sophisticated in its capabilities.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The installation on Windows 10 runs into problems with Windows Defender (the Antivirus program).

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Intellisense & Autocomplete are invaluable, a true prize for developers.

  ### 43. Worth the money

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

It's easy to use, has enough features to help with my tasks

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I'm not happy with the SQL Formatter. For example the RedGate product is better. It should use a full lexical parser / analyser. It doesn't make a difference between a schema name or table name.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping me, solving my daily tasks, writting SQL, generating data or documenting the database

  ### 44. Using SQL Complete

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

I like the Auto completion and the reformatting capabilities

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

it can sometimes cause SSMS to Freeze with no warning

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

much faster development capabilities

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> Hello,

Thank you for the high appreciation of SQL Complete! It means a lot to us.

Could you specify which version of SQL Complete you use? The issue you've mentioned is already fixed in the latest version of SQL Complete.

Autocomplete and format features because sql studio is not working well

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

that many feature are not available in free edition

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

wirteing query faster

  ### 46. Great productivity tool when using SSMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2020

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Auto-complete and other code snippets and shortcuts are time saving in terms of coding faster and more accurately. The code formatting and layout improves readability and consistency. I really like being able to generate insert update and delete statements quickly via the tool.

In SSMS it remembers the open tabs after closing the application as well as keeping unsaved changes. All of which are time savers. Finally connection tabs can be colour coded to differentiate between different servers or environments. All of these help reduce the risk of mistakes or making changes on the wrong servers.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Sometimes it can be slow to retrieve database metadata which it does when connecting for the first time to a database instance. It must complete database metadata retrieval in order to start functioning. On occasion it has made SSMS unresponsive and requiring a restart to start functioning normally again.

**Recommendations to others considering dbForge SQL Complete:**

Great tool for DBAs and programmers alike who want to improve their SQL game.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are always striving for consistent code formatting and ways to improve programmer efficiency. This tool achieves both of these aims by having built-in code formatting capabilities as well as all the various intelli-sense / code snippet enhancements. The net result is that we are able to code more quickly and efficiently.

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> Our team has optimized the processes of obtaining metadata in version 6.7. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of SQL Complete.

  ### 47. SQL Complete is a time saving tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan O. | Business Technology Transformation Process Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2020

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

There are several things I like about SQL Complete. First, I love the history. This keeps a history of all of the queries that were performed. Second, When you close SSMS, when you reopen, all of your query windows open back up. Finally, I like the intellisense that SQL complete provides

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

The one thing I do not like is with the history, it keep the connection as part of the query. So, for example, if I open SSMS and connect to my prod server and run a query, then open another SSMS and connect to my dev server, I can see the query I performed on prod. The problem is if I execute that query from dev(using the open in window feature), it will run it against my prod server, even thought SSMS is connected to my dev server. This is very problematic. There may be a option to turn this off, but I'm not aware of it.

**Recommendations to others considering dbForge SQL Complete:**

I highly recommend this project. I've been using it for approximately 4 months and love it.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No longer have to save multiple open query windows. Can now close SSMS and when I reopen all of my windows open back up.

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> Yes, a SQL document with an already organized connection opens from the Execution History, but the query is not executed automatically, the user can choose a different connection in the SQL document and execute it on the required server.

You see, if we do not store the connection, then the essence of this feature will be lost since having opened a document with a query, the user will not know which server he queried earlier. To avoid a situation with an already organized connection you've described, you can copy a query to the clipboard and paste it into a new SQL document with the required connection.

  ### 48. dbForge SQL Complete has helped me maintain clarity in my daily work.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2020

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Rename, navigation, & Connection coloring.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Having export to Excel capability would be a real productivity booster.

**Recommendations to others considering dbForge SQL Complete:**

Take your time to explore the formatting profiles and create a copy of a profile you can fiddle around with.
Parts of the profile editor show you accurate previews and some do not.
It might also take a few minutes to get familiar with the tree of formatting options, which is to be expected from a formatting tool with so much flexibility; YMMV.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developing in multiple databases spread across multiple servers, and various ‘stacks’ is annoying. SQL Complete has helped me stay focused and productive through the use of connection coloring, document outlining, renaming, jumping to definitions, code completion, and multiple formatting profiles.

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> Yes, we do have plans to implement data export to the Excel format in the nearest future.

  ### 49. Definitely increases productivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2020

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

Love using the execution history to find recent SQL statements executed for customer support or system installations. With this feature, I can easily continue where I left and don't have to rewrite stuff.

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

No downside at all. Personally, I don't like auto-generation of table aliases because abbreviations sometimes don't make the code readable.

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have to save every useful query because it is already saved for me in the execution history. I also liked the following features: context-sensitive suggestions, quick object information, the join clause auto generation. on condition suggestion for JOIN...

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> We plan to improve aliases in the nearest future, but we need a specific example on how you would like aliases to be generated.

At the moment, you can customize aliases in the SQL Complete -> Alias menu.

For more information on how to set up aliases, you can use HELP:

https://docs.devart.com/sqlcomplete/writing-sql-with-code-completion/working-with-aliases.html

  ### 50. Insights

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2020

**What do you like best about dbForge SQL Complete?**

refactoring (like renaming columns) is convenient

**What do you dislike about dbForge SQL Complete?**

When refactoring cross database dependencies are hard to get right.
As an example a secondary database has a synonym to table in the primary database. Then when a column in table in primary database is renamed you really want the SPs etc in the secondary database to be examined for refactoring effects too.

**Recommendations to others considering dbForge SQL Complete:**

Indications of test coverage with TSQLT tests would be useful

**What problems is dbForge SQL Complete solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting to grips with complexity and inter-dependency of a large multi-database system

**Official Response from Jordan Sanders:**

> At the moment, SQL Complete doesn't support renaming of server objects. Refactoring is done only in the script.

We plan to improve refactoring functions, including the ability to rename server objects in the upcoming versions.
