## ClusterControl Reviews
  ### 1. Straightforward and Effective with Superb Documentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryan T. | Senior Web Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2025

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

It really does what it's supposed to. The interface is very straightforward, and both the documentation and help resources are superb.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

The main drawback is straightforward: Several Nines charges based on the number of managed nodes. Everything counts as a node, except for a GarbD server and the cluster control web interface.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If I had attempted to build a Galera cluster manually, it likely would have taken me around six months just to get the system operational. After that, I would have needed another six months to research potential issues, learn how to identify them, and figure out how to resolve them.

Cluster Control significantly simplified the setup process. Rather than spending nearly a year on implementation, I was able to get the database cluster running in just over six months. While the web interface doesn't eliminate the need to understand the system's inner workings or how to respond to failures, it does make managing, troubleshooting, and expanding the cluster much more straightforward.

Finally, the pre-sales and post-sales assistance was significant in helping me avoid some pitfalls I was not personally aware of.

  ### 2. Easy to setup. Takes all the worries about running a large cluster away.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2023

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

Ease of use, clear alerting and dashboards.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

No update version option from the Web UI. Need to drop onto the console to upgrade.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running large, multi node clusters can be a full time job. Cluster control takes all of that and makes it easy. Setup and forget (almost)

  ### 3. Cluster control Helps to improve our uptime SLA

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2023

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

A single pane of view of entire DB stacks
Supports managing multiple databases.
Automatic cluster recovery functionality.
Automatic cluster creation and database configuration.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

Does not support containers and kubernetes-based environment.
No feature to profile different users/groups to grant access to specific databases.
License is based on per node.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automation of Cluster Provisioning, scheduling backup and performance monitoring.
Seamless configuration of Disaster recovery using automatic replication.
Automatic recovery helps in maintaining the SLA with higher uptime.

  ### 4. Exterme powerful management of several Database Engines

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2023

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

Great support for automation and deep monitoring of a lot of metrics for almost all Opensource Database engines.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

Some aspects about integration with backup tools for Postgres may be improved.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monitoring and advanced management for PostgreSQL Clusters

  ### 5. ClusterControl is the best open source cluster and database management system on the market.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saïd M. | Senior Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

What I like the best is the central management console for all clusters. Deployment is easy; monitoring and backups also. There are a lot of useful features that are not in other products

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

Up to now, I've never been deceived by the product and since I use this product, that means 10 years, it has always been improved

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problems I'm solving with Clustercontrol once I've deployed clusters with the monitoring and alerting features are performances, network issues, failed backups.

  ### 6. Cluster Control is a great clustering solution!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

Easy to use and reliable.
We use it to manage 10 Postgres clusters and have found it intuitive.
I liked how it installed Postgres software and the setup of the cluster.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

We had some issues with backups not working correctly, but we could resolve the problems with support.
pgbackrest support could be improved.
Restores outside of the cloud could also be improved.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Cluster Control for the Postgres HA to secure and back up our clusters.
It saves us hours of configuration and management and gives us a dashboard to see the health of our clusters.

  ### 7. Simply Deploy, Monitor, Backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Falko R. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

Cluster Control configures and deploys new nodes for replication quickly and reliably. Its automated cluster- and node recovery features have been invaluable to our service reliability. Configuring backups is easy enough for a toddler and the ability to automatically restore & verify backups after creation gives us peace of mind.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

While CC provides sane defaults, changing certain settings isn't possible via the web ui. In general, the web-ui is dated and a bit messy. Good news though: There is now a preview for their new UI which looks to be a treat!

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a very small company serving an increasing number of bigger businesses. Expectations for the product are very high, and our resources are constrained. Using Cluster Control helps us be responsible with our Database and its contents without adding complexity. Since Several Nines offers flexible hosting, we have also been able to host CC in our security boundary, reducing the risks and minutiae of adding another subprocessor.

  ### 8. the best database cluster-management software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** planzeit G. | Chief Cloud Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

it is very easy to setup, the documentation is great and the support is fast. Also the software itself, with its automatic repair/reconcile features is very easy to maintain. It is an all in one solution for a database cluster.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

There is no information/newsletter or push notification from the software when a new version is available. Also, the pricing is quite high; you pay a 4 digits sum for a single datanode.

**Recommendations to others considering ClusterControl:**

You should definitly order the support option; they do a check twice a year and a meetup with their experts to make sure their software can handle your needs; that was very important to us.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a cluster managed by clustercontrol makes everything very easy. You dont need to have the specific knowledge of how a certain cluster type works; it is all very click-ready and easy. Our biggest benefit is to have 100% available database; which is great for our customers. we can steer the traffic from one node to another without any downtime an can maintain the other nodes easily. The automatic backup feature and notification integration is also a big benefit for us.

  ### 9. it's really help for managing the database clusters

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

Sometimes we faced issues with restoring Percona backups

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manage DB clusters and move to DR site in quick passion

  ### 10. Production grade intensive usage of ClusterControl

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jean-Marie R. | D, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

ClusterControl is covering all the main aspects of database management in a single console
You can use it from different types of databases including load balancer settings

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

Pricing is an issue in a first place
Tool price is rising with the number of databases managed so you must be aware of a lot of servers from your databases means a higher price

**Recommendations to others considering ClusterControl:**

A lot of time is saved by using very good database administration tools that allow us to leverage a high-quality database infrastructure for Open Source databases

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Troubleshooting in the first place
Environment uniformization
Standard Operation Procedure for main maintenance operation
Backup/ restore monitoring system
Command-line tools working perfectly also

  ### 11. Mostly very positive.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

The ability to click a button and build a cluster to our specs.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

That it modifies our my.cnf file. They should create a separate config file for their changes. Poor control of email alerts (which S9S says they are already working on). That the backup function only supports streaming to a tar file. Need it to do normal xtrabackup directory backups, which are much faster. tar is unmanageable with multi-terrabyte databases. Plus xtrabackup creates info files that we don't have access to in the tar file. CC creating local repositories when we want it to use our locally created repositories. This means we have to install the database software manually then add the node to the cluster.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to have our servers meet configuration standards. Human creation of servers has proven to be very difficult (to a standard) when hundreds of servers are being managed.

  ### 12. S9 ClusterControl helps in easing admin/monitoring tasks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammad Mudassir M. | Database Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

ClusterControl helps in easing admin/monitoring tasks. almost all the maintenance activities can be done from CC efficiently.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

Without enabling slow-query logging into files, its not able to show full queries being executed in the DB (if the query is of large characters).

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to identify pain areas easily. Also, automated backup maintenance through CC.

  ### 13. Really good managent tool. a bit too pricy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

- Management functionalities
- Slave Management
- Easy import of clusters

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

- pricing. thats all i can say. i think pricing per node is just too expansive for me

**Recommendations to others considering ClusterControl:**

- check the pricing first

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Visualized state of database health, notification when somethings go wrong

  ### 14. Documentation was not clearly pointing out, that clusters based on Suse Linux cannot be imported

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2022

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

nothing, we could not use the product at all

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

everything, we could not use the product

**Recommendations to others considering ClusterControl:**

If any of your cluster VM's ist using SUSE Linux you cannot use the product at all

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

nothing, we could not use the product

  ### 15. If the cost is not an important point, this tool is a must for DDBB Admins

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aitor A. | Mr, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2018

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

This tools provide an easy way to deploy into your servers (no other pre-requisites needes, just operative system installed and updated) several kind of databases' cluster.
The main valuable points are:
- one-click installations (is not just one click but very easy installation steps based on click next, fill some basic info and finish)
- Alerts by email, slack or webhook.
- Possibility to schedule reports and send them by email.
- A bunch of useful option within the DB backup process
- A tool to control, monitoring, manage (all in one DB)

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

At this moment, the tools offer a community version, totally free but with restrictions to use several useful options.
By other side, the subscription versions are expensive if we take into account that we must have the servers, I mean, SeveralNines, only provide the tool (incluided support and updates) nothing else.
And the payment is yearly. The quotation is personalised by customer, in my case:
- 2500€ + taxes per node yearly.
So, if we need a 5 nodes DB clusters --> 12.500€ + taxes + servers costs.

**Recommendations to others considering ClusterControl:**

High valuable options if the costs are not a problem or if you don't mind to use a Community version in production env. for your project/company.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Advantages:
- You will have a single-point where to manage your DB cluster
- A very friendly graphic interface.
- Schedule and automatize till a high level.

Disadvantages:
- High costs

  ### 16. We love it

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2018

**What do you like best about ClusterControl?**

Clustercontrol provides a complete relational database cluster management solution and has helped us simplify that aspect of our infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about ClusterControl?**

Starting at $2500 per node per annum, it is a little expensive given our IT budget.

**What problems is ClusterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Database load balancing, performance advisories, configuration management, scaling management etc are some of the benefits we have derived from using clustercontrol.
