The Clonezilla application belongs to the category of applications that are part of the passive security software group, as it allows us to attempt disaster recovery or massive data loss. It is used for cloning disk volumes and their partitions. It is like the free software version similar to Norton Ghost, which means it will be free.

Once the cloning of a disk, volume, or partition is done, you can save it as an image file and transfer it to a USB drive, DVD or CD, a NAS server via SSH, SAMBA server, etc.

It also facilitates the work of installing operating systems with all the necessary applications integrated into many workstations with identical technical characteristics. This would be done by performing an initial installation and then cloning that machine. Instead of reinstalling the OS and all the necessary applications on each computer, you can clone that image on each workstation. It's somewhat complicated to download the necessary version from the web and complete the entire process, as you need an empty USB drive or a blank DVD or CD to copy it, since it boots via a bootable CD.

Clonezilla is an opensource data platform that allows individuals to partition and image + clone disks. It is very similar, in my opinion, to Norton Ghost software but as I've said is available opensource.
