It’s also easy to manage day to day: investigating emails and releasing the occasional false positive is quick and straightforward, which ends up saving a lot of time. **What do you dislike about Barracuda Email Gateway Defense?** What I dislike about Barracuda Email Gateway Defense is that it isn’t always as accurate or as smooth in day-to-day use as you’d hope. False positives still happen, where legitimate emails get blocked and have to be manually released. That’s especially frustrating when users are waiting on something important. The interface can feel a bit clunky, too, particularly when you’re digging into policies or trying to troubleshoot. Without FIR you may not even know if there was a problem, and it may take hours to find and resolve. Many email scanners handle incoming email only, but with Barracuda Essentials you get incoming and outgoing email scanning. The Archiving feature, with it's unlimited retention and storage, is a great way to dive into historical emails for research or legal inquiries. **What do you dislike about Barracuda Email Gateway Defense?** The Cloud Control web access to the ESS can sometimes be slow and/or drag a bit. But other than that I can't find anything that is a negative. **What problems is Barracuda Email Gateway Defense solving and how is that benefiting you?** Besides the obvious benefits of email scanning for viruses and malware, the FIR portion of the ESS is incredible. We have already stopped one account takeover, whereby the users account was logged in from someone in Turkey (we are in California/USA). The FIR immediately notified us and within a few clicks we were able to stop the takeover and change the users password. In the past, we would have not known about something like this or found it too late - and I now have to wonder if this did happen before and we just never knew about it. For ransomware, phishing and scamming, the FIR continuously monitors suspicious activity and alerts us. We have the ability to instantly look at the suspicious email and determine if we want to delete it from the users inbox(s) and then block the offending email address and/or domain, or if it is a false positive, we can report it as such back to Barracuda. It is constantly learning. ### 23. It would be nice to have a software that could read my mind when it comes to junk email. I do like the white-list, a list of senders to have blocked. This software does do a great job at blocking viruses and malware. Since we have started using it at my work, I will have to admit that I have not received any bad emails. **What do you dislike about Barracuda Email Gateway Defense?** I dislike the layout of the site, I found it a bit difficult to navigate when I was on my mobile device. I do feel protected. I was also locked out from administering and had to contact support to get back in. They were quick and responsive and gave me the access I needed to get back in and take care of things. **Recommendations to others considering Barracuda Email Gateway Defense:** Make sure to create an admin account outside of domain for emergency reasons, in case you get locked out for any reason. **What problems is Barracuda Email Gateway Defense solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mainly, it reduces the copious amounts of spam my end users receive on a daily basis. They really really should tack on the Sentry product too.
