Nifi is a very versatile data flow management tool and can be used to manage enterprise wide data flows. The ability to configure processor blocks based on requirement is very easy for anyone with basic software engineering knowledge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

User Interface gets kind of entangled after building a data flow pipeline. There should be a way to format or reorganize blocks automatically for easy interpretation. Nifi's data processing flow is extremely user-friendly. It is able to display complex data-flow and data-manipulation during the ETL process. NiFi did not have connectors for many data sources we wanted to ingest into the cloud platform. It did not have a good API support and had a data file limit for each upload. The learning curve is fairly steep for those who are not from IT background. The business users found it hard to use the tool to upload their own data and build a small pipeline. NiFi no longer just thinks about a batch process that you run on a schedule and then it is done. You really have to rethink the way that ETL is written to design an actual flow of data from any streamable source.

It has all of the standard issue ETL paradigms with data in and data out but every piece of data is thought of as a stream with a branch and possible next flow to be fired. This is done beautifully with remote processors.

It uses Zookeeper for its configuration management that though it is somewhat confusing as to what it does it keeps track of everything and allow for the clustering of NiFi.

Really interesting ideas around how to deal with messaging platforms like Kafka as it can both be a consumer or producer so that it can act as an intermediary where code is not as easy to implement from a legacy system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The community is still developing and is strong when it comes to Hortonworks. The documentation is fairly decent but it is not always obvious how things should work so there is a little bit of trial and error. Getting it spun up on AWS and Azure in a secure and maintainable way is still a little bit of a challenge though you can go with something like BatchIQ from the marketplace to spin it up with some extra cost.
