Along with being easy-to-use, Ant Renamer provides a massive list of flexible options for applying various renaming rules (ex. String Insertion, Change Case, etc.) to a batch of files. The interface is also very easy to understand, with all controls divided between three tabs. Perhaps my favorite aspect of Ant Renamer is how quickly it works. Using it, I've been able to rename thousands of files in a fraction of the time it would take other programs. In my line of work (graphic design), Ant Renamer is a vital tool that I find myself using every day. **What do you dislike about Ant Renamer?** As an open-source project, Ant Renamer seems to be primarily maintained by one private individual, instead of by a corporation that specializes in development. Thus, the software isn't updated very frequently, nor are new features added with any regularity. This isn't a massive issue for me, as I am already satisfied with the software, but this may disappoint users looking for more. **What problems is Ant Renamer solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a graphic designer, I'm often given large batches of files that must be renamed to match our internal naming conventions. Ant Renamer allows me to rename files quickly and easily, by applying various intelligent rulesets to the file list. ### 2. It also works for PC folders. **What do you dislike about Ant Renamer?** At least before, it wasn't in Castilian and it was a bit complex to use the different tools it offers, since it has different applications depending on what you need. **Recommendations to others considering Ant Renamer:** If you ever need to rename a large number of files, don't waste time and use this very simple application. In any case, create a new folder and copy the files there; once you've verified that the name is correct, you can replace them with the originals without fear of deleting anything. **What problems is Ant Renamer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Change names of thousands of files and folders, such as at the beginning of the year, move all files to the previous year, add a sequential numbering to the folders, or replace part of the name in the files of one or several folders without having to go one by one, greatly improving the time of these activities in the office. ### 3. It can be put on external drive and be used on other computers too. You can make all sorts of differents operations, such as change the extension, enumerations, Single/Multiple String remplacement or use Regular Expressions. You can also add, move or delete character strings to your files. You have choice with other operations like EXIF info or random names attributions. The software can also edit metadata like mp3 tag info and date & time edition. It's really easy to use, 3 differents tabs, on for files, another for action and a third for log. Just drag files inside the first one and switch to the second one to plan what you need. It's possible to batch differents operations in a row and apply it after. The software give you access to a preview on a file selected in the list. Ant Renamer is available in more than 20 differents languages, all around the world. You should find yours. **What do you dislike about Ant Renamer?** The regulare expressions panel explanations could be a bit more detailed **Recommendations to others considering Ant Renamer:** Just drag & drop files, go to Actions panel, select what kind of you need and set it. The, launch with Go button. Really easy to handle. **What problems is Ant Renamer solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use AntRenamer espacially for multiple picture renaming, like timelapse for exemple. Sometimes, I can use it to manage my music library. ### 4. This makes it possible for even users who aren't familiar with the software able to learn it relatively easily. It's also very stable, and never seems to choke on files with long filenames or paths, unlike some pieces of software made for this purpose. One of the better functions it has over some other similar alternatives is that it's able to rename folders with the same attributes and selectors as are used for files. While I wouldn't say it's the best software ever for this purpose, it certainly shines in places it's competitors don't. It includes translations to a very large number of languages as well, helping it be very accessible to anyone who's first language isn't English. **What do you dislike about Ant Renamer?** It does have a bit of a learning curve and you'll still need to rely on RegEX for more complex selecting of items, but at the very least it has a good amount of options for selecting things outside of that. It's UI is a little dated in design as well, but it still works fine. **Recommendations to others considering Ant Renamer:** If you're at all familiar with computers and need to rename files in large quantities, Ant Renamer will get the job done. **What problems is Ant Renamer solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use this software day to day when managing personal photos organizing items by date. For anyone needing a software to help organize files based on attributes and needs it done in such a way that organizing by alphabetical is necessary, this is a great software. I'd imagine it makes managing large collections of video footage, photos, and documents a breeze, more or less. ### 5. And the software doesn't help explaining. **Recommendations to others considering Ant Renamer:** To use, simply drag your files into the Files pane, and then select from one of the many available functions in the Actions pane. There are plenty of functions to choose, from changing extensions and string replacement to more advanced tasks like regular expressions or even using the EXIF info from your camera. You can also chain multiple renaming tasks together into a batch, and preview the results back in the Files pane (make sure to use the F5 key to refresh the window after making changes). Once perfected, batches can then be saved for re-use—a great feature for working with downloaded files. **What problems is Ant Renamer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Renaming files quickly.
