The toggle bookmark option is very useful while handling large do files. However, this option becomes disappeare when the do file is closed. One need to re add the bookmarks in the do file in the next time.

**Recommendations to others considering Stata:**

The people who want to develop expertise in data analysis should try stata first as this has easy interface and command.

**What problems is Stata solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about Stata?**

Switching between using menus, when you have no idea about the command, I just use the menu, then copy paste to a do file
the speed by using the familiar commands
The ability to take the output to external documents (pdf, word, html)
doing that by either native stata commands or third party packages

Setting stata environment is a piece of cake.
# Programming with Stata can be done through different ways
 - writing ado files
- using Mata programming language
- viewing the source code of command is amazing, which can help develop the programming skills
- Editing native stata do files by adding or removing chuncks
-
installing packages to solve common problems

# Getting help:
the documentation of stata is something really I cannot find the word to describe it.
I can learn and do research from the Stata documentation, specifically, finding the references.

finally, searching for something you don't really know what that exactly is, doing that only by using the search command, Stata will suggest many things

**What do you dislike about Stata?**

Personally, I don't have much to complain about besides some issues such as sub-setting
stata sometimes is slow specifically with plotting
I was always complaining about auto completion, however, finally came with stata 16

Finally, I longing for a native stata SQL programming language.
I guess that would be great improvement to this software.

**Recommendations to others considering Stata:**

Scalability, user-friendly

**What problems is Stata solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Doing Data science with Stata is easy.

Most of the time we use stata for statistical models, econometric models

**Reviewed by:** Surabhi S. | Clinical Research Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Stata?**

STATA is the most widely used software application in my lab here at USD, it has particularly been very helpful in SEM models and creates easily comprehensible diagrams and is also very user-friendly. There are also lots of tutorials and sources that can be used as guides to help learn STATA better and these have been helpful in creating research designs as well and conducting complex analyses that would have otherwise been very hard for someone who had only used R and SPSS before.

**What do you dislike about Stata?**

STATA is very affordable but it would be nice to have more options for customization. But there is not too much I would complain about.

**Recommendations to others considering Stata:**

It takes a bit to get used to STATA is you come from an SPSS/R background but once you get used to STATA things become a lot easier, but there is a little bit of a learning curve.

**What problems is Stata solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot of my use with STATA is research related, particularly, in clinical psychology. So STATA is being used for research models and analyses such as SEM, network analyses, moderation, as well as mediation analyses. These have all become easier with STATA

**What do you like best about Stata?**

The thing I like best about STATA is that it is easiest statistical software to use for analysis. You don’t need to write any code if you want to conduct simple descriptive analysis. Just import your datafile, chose the variables of interest, chose the analysis and you are good to go.

**What do you dislike about Stata?**

I don’t think, I dislike anything about STATA except the fact that it gives fairly simple figures and graphs

**What problems is Stata solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used STATA for conducting descriptive analysis, simple and multiple linear regression model analysis, cross-sectional data analysis, longitudinal time-dependent analysis, ANOVA models, chi square and t-tests and survival analysis. It is also a good tool for data visualization. The graphs and tables are fairly simple and it is easy to visualize data.

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Stata?**

First, it is super easy to use(I am not a programmer and it is hard for me to code, so Stata is a perfect match for me. I do not need to write a code in Stata in order to get the results, I can just get the results by clicking and choosing from given options) Second, I can run all types of regressions in Stata. Third after I get the results of regression I can see 95% confidence interval(this means that I would know what would be my min and max values at 95% accuracy). Also there is a very comfortable interface, which allows me to navigate easily. Last but not least StataCorp updates Stata every 2-3 month and you do not have to pay anything to get this updates.

**What do you dislike about Stata?**

Stata is an expensive program and have some other free alternatives. Also the graphics in Stata are not very clear, so it is not worth to use the graphics of Stata in your presentations. The last disadvantage of Stata is the fact, that you can only have 1 open dataset at a time.

**Recommendations to others considering Stata:**

if you need a good statistical software, that is easy to use I would for sure recommend Stata.

**What problems is Stata solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a credit risk manager, so by using Stata, I want to predict what is the probability that a certain person or organization would not be able to pay his loans.

-No weird and funky words required to make it work, it's quite a logical software.

**What do you dislike about Stata?**

-It's easy to mess up commands and is prone to human error
-You can only do one thing at a time, so you're limited in the speed of work you can complete.

**What problems is Stata solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-It's not the most "quick" software, it takes time to be able to first figure out, then to actually get your answer, especially if it's a multi-step thing.
-However, I've noticed that when actually done correctly, it's very useful and is accurate in it's results.

  ### 48. Used STATA extensively throughout my undergraduate program for social research analysis

  ### 50. review of STATA by an analyst

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sweya G. | Data analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Stata?**

Stata has both GUI and coding environments. Its like R programming, line of code in independent of other line unlike SAS. If the data sets are small to moderate Stata is good as the cost is not so much. Building regressions in STATA is super easy than SAS. You can load only those variable you would need into the memory instance, in the very first step. Stata is cheaply priced than SAS mainly used for research purposes than for industry. since we are a research agency it suit most of our needs.

**What do you dislike about Stata?**

Stata is not recommended for big data sets and the data file is loaded into the memory, big RAM sizes are needed. Collapsing the data (grouping) is not easy like in SQL.Data has to be compressed manually to reduce the size of the data files.
There is not a big stata community , so tips and best practices sharing is not easy like with python or R programming. If we break a line in stata we have to end the first line with 2 "/ " so that the system understands the line breakage.

**Recommendations to others considering Stata:**

Buy multicore and high RAM machines for high performance

**What problems is Stata solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do lot of statistical analysis on health care on data using Stata and find the cost of services ,Low value care etc.I build regression models with Stata mostly.
