# Zendesk for Customer Service vs Zoho Desk for adding self-service that integrates with your existing help desk?

I compared these two directly, since they come up constantly for teams adding self-service, and they sit at genuinely different points in the customer self-service space:

Zendesk for Customer Service is the more powerful and customizable option, with a large app marketplace, deep automation, and a mature help center that scales to complex operations. The tradeoff reviewers raise is complexity and a learning curve for new users. Best for teams that want depth and room to scale.

Zoho Desk is the more affordable, quick-to-adopt option with a solid knowledge base and tight fit for teams already in the Zoho ecosystem. The honest catch is that some settings are deeply nested and the search could be stronger. Best for small and mid-size teams watching cost.

The integration angle is the deciding factor: if your existing stack is broad and you need a big connector ecosystem, that points one way, while if you're already running Zoho tools, the native fit points the other. And worth noting, an AI layer like Fin can sit on top of either without a migration if self-service resolution is the real goal. Which matters more to you, ecosystem breadth or native simplicity and price?

Worth separating the help-center feature from what makes it actually deflect tickets: whether agents can turn a resolved ticket into an article without leaving their queue. If that loop takes three clicks, the knowledge base grows from real questions; if it means switching tools, it grows from whatever someone wrote at launch and then stops. That's a better thing to test in a trial than the integration list.
