# Which IP address intelligence software has the best coverage and reliability for developer use cases?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Hi G2, I'm trying to work out which IP address intelligence software gives developers the best coverage and reliability, using G2 ratings and review themes. From the<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/ip-address-intelligence"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/ip-address-intelligence">IP address intelligence</a> category, with ratings:</p><ul>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/ip-info-ipinfo/reviews"><strong>IPinfo</strong></a> (4.7, 151 reviews): reviewers call its accuracy best-in-class over years of use, with stable uptime and fast API response in production.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/ip2location/reviews"><strong>IP2Location</strong></a> (4.6, 52 reviews): a local database option developers say removes network latency and third-party dependency, strong on broadband coverage.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/ipstack/reviews"><strong>ipstack</strong></a> (4.5, 143 reviews): accurate and dependable with easy integration, though reviewers note weaker coverage on VPNs and mobile networks.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/maxmind-geoip/reviews"><strong>MaxMind GeoIP</strong></a> (4.5, 23 reviews): reviewers say it just works, with easy library downloads and solid docs, on a smaller sample.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/ipwhois-io/reviews"><strong>ipwhois.io</strong></a> (4.3, 28 reviews): fast and simple with clean JSON, though accuracy is the main knock.</li>
</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">For developers, which delivered the coverage and reliability you needed in production? And where did coverage break down, VPNs, mobile, or obscure IP ranges?</p>

&lt;p&gt;The local-database option makes IP2Location an interesting comparison here. If geolocation sits in a latency-sensitive request path, removing the API call entirely could matter more than a small accuracy advantage elsewhere. I’d benchmark IPinfo and IP2Location against the same production traffic and compare misses by network type, not just overall accuracy.&lt;/p&gt;
