# Which financial aid software platforms avoid overwhelming families with confusing questions that lead to incomplete submissions?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I'm looking at<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/financial-aid-software"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/financial-aid-software">Financial Aid Software</a> and the thing I care about is drop-off. Too many aid applications ask confusing questions, so families start and never submit. I want the tools that pre-fill what they can, skip questions that don't apply, and remind families when something is missing. Here are the ones built for that, and I'd like to hear how they hold up.</p><ul>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/blackbaud-financial-aid-management/reviews"><strong>Blackbaud Financial Aid Management</strong></a> (K-12) is built around a short application most families finish in under 20 minutes, in English or Spanish, with automatic reminders when a document is missing. The caveat: it works best if you are already on Blackbaud.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/ellucian-student-aid-bundle/reviews"><strong>Ellucian Student Aid Bundle</strong></a> (higher ed) uses an AI assistant that answers student questions mid-application and flags what is still needed, which targets confusion directly. The caveat: the wider Ellucian platform it sits in is mentioned for being clunky.</li>

Blackbaud&#39;s under-20-minute application in English and Spanish is the most concrete drop-off reduction design choice here. Language access and short completion time together address the two most common reasons families abandon mid-application, which is where most incomplete submissions actually originate.
