Comparing the Client-Side Protection category on G2, the CI/CD-integrated versus agentless-monitoring split here maps onto a real architectural choice: embedding protection into the pipeline gives developers more direct visibility into what's being checked, while a single script tag or agentless approach keeps developers almost entirely out of the loop, which avoids friction by design rather than by careful integration. Both approaches genuinely avoid the friction the post is worried about, but for different reasons, one because it's built to fit cleanly into an existing workflow developers already use, the other because it doesn't ask developers to interact with it at all.

Where friction tends to show up regardless of approach is in the alerting layer, since a monitoring tool that flags something eventually needs a developer to investigate, and how that handoff is designed matters more for perceived friction than whether the underlying protection itself was agentless.

The honest answer to where security enforcement creates friction is probably less about the initial rollout and more about false-positive alerts pulling a developer's attention away from planned work, regardless of how smoothly the tool itself is deployed.
