# Which AR content management systems provide models compatible with Blender, 3ds Max, and SketchUp?

Hi G2 community, I'm researching for a roundup of AR content management systems that provide models compatible with Blender, 3ds Max, and SketchUp, since format compatibility is usually what decides whether a 3D asset drops straight into a project or needs hours of cleanup. The useful distinction here is between platforms that hand you files ready for your existing tools and ones that force conversion work first. Looking across the AR Content Management Systems category, a few come up for playing nicely with standard 3D software.

CGTrader: A marketplace where models commonly arrive with proper textures and realistic proportions in formats that match 3ds Max, Blender, and SketchUp, which lets designers drop assets into a scene without extra tweaking. Some models also ship complete with materials set up for common renderers.

echo3D: A cloud 3D asset platform that handles direct uploads of models from tools like Blender with shaders and materials preserved, and delivers across Unity, JavaScript, iOS, and Android from one source. Support for multiple file formats is a recurring reason people pick it.

VNTANA: Built to ingest CAD and 3D files and convert them into web-ready formats, including format conversions like glb to usdz, so assets stay usable across the tools and channels a team already runs.

When compatibility matters most for you, is it the file format itself, or whether textures and materials survive the import intact? And which pairing of source library and 3D software has actually saved you the most cleanup time?

echo3D preserving shaders and materials on direct uploads from Blender is the detail that actually saves time, since redoing material setups by hand is usually the most tedious part of bringing an asset into a new pipeline.

Materials surviving, every time. Format conversion is a known cost you can plan for, whereas rebuilding a shader network quietly eats an afternoon. echo3D taking uploads straight from Blender with shaders and materials preserved is the version of compatibility that actually saves time.

Worth adding a third failure alongside format and materials, and it bites hardest in AR specifically: units. A model can open cleanly with materials intact and arrive at a hundredth of its intended size because the source assumed centimetres and the destination assumed metres. In a rendered scene somebody notices and scales it. In AR the object is placed against the real world, so wrong scale is immediately and obviously wrong. VNTANA converting CAD into web-ready formats is doing work where unit handling has to be explicit. Worth checking one known-dimension object end to end before trusting a pipeline.

Format is table stakes now, materials surviving is the actual test. A file that opens cleanly with broken shaders costs more than a format conversion ever did, because the loss is silent until render time. The pairings that have saved people the most cleanup, from what I hear from design teams, are libraries that publish renderer-specific material setups rather than one generic export, since the rebuild-the-materials hour is the one that repeats on every single asset.
