# Where is the best place to download high quality BIM objects for mechanical and electrical equipment that are actually kept current by the manufacturer?

The word "current" is doing a lot of work in this question. Every platform has content. The problem is that the content was accurate when it was uploaded three years ago, but now reflects a discontinued model, a changed dimension, or a specification that the manufacturer updated. For MEP designers, using a stale BIM object in a project that goes to construction is not just an inconvenience. It can cause coordination failures.

From reviews in the BIM objects category filtered specifically on MEP and manufacturer-provided content:

MagiCAD Cloud: The standout for manufacturer-verified MEP content. Reviewers describe objects that come with technical specifications verified by the manufacturer before they are published, and the 3D geometry is described as matching the real product. The add-in inserts content directly into Revit as native RFA families. Reviewers flag that only about 25% of the library is accessible without a paid subscription, which is worth knowing before committing to a workflow around it.

Trimble MEPcontent: Covers HVAC, piping, plumbing, electrical panels, and fittings with a focus on manufacturer-specific content alongside generic families. Reviewers describe it as filling the gap for specialized fittings and MEP components they would otherwise have to model manually. One reviewer used it daily, specifically because it gave control over fitting selection that native Revit MEP tools do not easily provide. The interface requires going through AutoCAD Fabrication to add fittings, which reviewers describe as unintuitive if AutoCAD is not already part of the workflow.

BIMobject: Has mechanical and electrical categories with manufacturer-provided content from a wide range of brands. Reviewers describe being able to search by manufacturer name directly, which helps when you know which product you are specifying. The breadth is the strength here. Coverage gaps exist in some MEP subcategories, and not all objects have an RVT version available.

Bimstore: Covers MEP alongside architectural content, with manufacturer-validated families and embedded product data. Reviewers describe the organization as clear enough to find what you need by category without excessive scrolling.

No library is really the source of truth for this, the manufacturer's current datasheet is, and every library lags it to some degree, which is why a family that looked right when it was uploaded can quietly be describing last year's model. So the habit that actually prevents the coordination failure is checking the family against the live cut sheet at the moment you specify it, and when you're choosing a source, favor the ones that show a last-verified or updated date, because that's the only way to see how far behind the content might be.
