Ease of management decided it for us, mostly because the person administering VDI also does everything else in IT. Nerdio Manager being described as not needing constant babysitting of individual configurations is the specific thing that matters at this size, since the real constraint is one person&#39;s attention rather than budget.

For a mid-market team the deciding factor is often the recurring work rather than the pricing structure, and the specific recurring work is image maintenance. Someone has to patch the golden image, test that the line-of-business applications still launch, and reroll it, every month, and that job appears in no comparison table. A managed service moves it to the vendor; a self-managed platform leaves it with whoever has the least spare time. Nerdio reviewers describing provisioning as applying a template is the tooling answer to the same problem. Worth asking explicitly who owns image updates in each model.
