# Is a dedicated asset leasing platform worth it for a fleet leasing company, or does an ERP module cover most of the same ground?

Short answer: for a fleet leasing company, a dedicated platform usually earns its place, and the deciding factors are fairly specific. I'd judge it on three things:

Asset-level lifecycle (originations through end-of-lease and remarketing), which generic ERP lease modules handle shallowly

Billing/invoicing and servicing built for lease contracts, not adapted from AR

Fleet-specific needs like vehicle/asset tracking tied to the lease

Where the options land:

Odessa Platform: the best-reviewed dedicated platform spanning equipment and auto/fleet finance, with asset-level servicing reviewers rate highly. The strongest general-purpose choice here.

Fleet-specific tools like enrich ERP and DRIVE exist in the category but are very lightly reviewed on G2, so I'd demo them but lean on references rather than review volume.

The case for a dedicated platform: an ERP module typically covers the general ledger side but not lease origination, remarketing, or fleet asset tracking, which is where leasing companies lose time. The case for the ERP module: if leasing is a small side of your business, it may be good enough.

For the fleet folks here, did your ERP's leasing module hold up, or did you end up bolting on a dedicated system anyway?

The ERP module usually holds up right until the fleet does something contract-shaped: early terminations, re-leases, mileage-based structures. If it's plain depreciation and payments, the module is fine and it's one less system to run. My rule of thumb: if leasing is revenue rather than overhead, it deserves its own system, because ERP modules are built for companies that hold leases, not companies that sell them.
