I've been reading on what to expect from Samsara live tracking refresh rates through a working day. From the reviews, refresh depends on cellular coverage at the vehicle as much as on the platform, so rural and long-haul routes behave differently from urban ones, and a reload is what people reach for when a view looks stale.
The useful part is that the trail is not lost while a vehicle is out of coverage. Location history is what people go back to, so a gap in the live view is not the same as a gap in the record, and a dispatch decision that looked wrong in the moment can be reconstructed afterwards. For Fleet Management teams that distinction is what makes a lagging map liveable rather than a blocker.
Two questions. On your routes, how much of the lag turns out to be coverage rather than the platform? And when a view looks stale during active dispatch, what is your fallback, a reload, a call to the driver, or something else?
