&lt;p&gt;One thing worth separating in this comparison: step-by-step directions and pretty maps are different features, and some tools are much stronger at one than the other. For students, the directions matter and the render doesn&#39;t. So in the demo I&#39;d time a full route: search a room, get directions, follow them on a phone while walking. The speed of that loop predicts adoption better than any visual polish.&lt;/p&gt;
