# Best API Platforms for Telecom Companies Handling Millions of Transactions Per Second

Telecom and other high-throughput operators evaluating API Platforms are usually looking for a gateway or integration backbone that's been proven under real production load, not just a design tool, so G2 review patterns point to a few platforms built specifically for that kind of scale.

MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (4.4/5, 893 reviews) has served as an integration backbone for large enterprises for close to two decades, and reviewers consistently praise its centralized API governance, reusable connectors, and ability to standardize integrations across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The recurring caveat is a steep learning curve and licensing costs that can run high, and its reviewer base is dominated by enterprise buyers (>1,000 employees), who make up more than half of respondents, so smaller teams should weigh that ramp-up cost carefully.

WSO2 API Platform (4.5/5, 145 reviews) is built around compliance-heavy, mission-critical use cases, with support for HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP, and several other frameworks baked in, and reviewers highlight strong security, monitoring, and analytics. Its reviewer base is fairly evenly split across small business, mid-market (51-1,000 employees), and enterprise (>1,000 employees) accounts, though several mention that initial setup and configuration take real technical investment.

Tyk (4.5/5, 51 reviews) markets itself around billion-transaction-scale gateway performance, and reviewers back that up, describing it as lightweight, fast under high traffic, and easy to fold into existing DevOps and CI/CD pipelines. Its reviewer base skews mid-market (51-1,000 employees), and the review count itself is notably thinner than the other two here, plus a learning curve once you get into advanced policy configuration.

For a telecom operator, would the priority be a platform that's already carried enterprise integration workloads for years, or one purpose-built around compliance and governance at that scale?

At telecom scale, I’d care less about a headline throughput number and more about what happens as the platform approaches its limits. I’d load-test the same representative API mix while adding authentication, rate limiting, transformations, logging, and policy enforcement. Sustaining high transaction volume is one thing; maintaining predictable latency and clean failure behavior once the governance layer is switched on is a much better production test.
