wow - some very negative reviews on the site (but some good ones as well.) from those of you that used to use sf: where did it go wrong? is it still better than taleo cornerstone oracle workday et al?
In short: Rippling and Calabrio ONE are the two platforms G2 reviewers and Grid Data most consistently connect to real-time visibility into schedules and team activity, ahead of a well-known Leader whose analytics score actually trails the pack.
I dug into this because "visibility into compliance gaps" is a different ask than general satisfaction, and the Workforce Management Grid Data draws a real line here:
- Rippling (4.8/5, 13,402 reviews): Workforce Analytics scores 92% and Activity Dashboard scores 94%, both near the top of the category. Reviewers describe it eliminating manual work and connecting systems seamlessly, which they specifically tie to reducing errors and supporting compliance.
- Calabrio ONE (4.4/5, 441 reviews): Workforce Analytics scores 91%, and reviewers, many in operations and team-lead roles, describe using it specifically to see real-time agent and team activity so managers know what's happening day to day. One reviewer did note that schedule changes can still get made after the fact without a clear change history, a real gap for the compliance-visibility use case specifically.
- Employment Hero (4.4/5, 4,017 reviews): Worth flagging as the tradeoff case. It's a top-three G2 Score Leader with a huge review base, but its Workforce Analytics score (75%) is one of the lower ones among Leaders. Reviewers overwhelmingly describe it from the employee side, clocking in and out and checking payslips, rather than from a manager's analytics or compliance view.
Is the visibility you need mainly for scheduling accuracy, or for broader workforce analytics and reporting? Those can point to different platforms on this list.
I’d compare live staffing views, schedule-change audit trails, exception alerts, and how easily managers can move from a compliance gap to the affected employee or shift.
If I had to say it in one line, HROne and Homebase are the two platforms G2's Grid Report data shows scoring highest on both forecasting and scheduling automation, ahead of even the category's most recognized name.
I looked into this because "automated scheduling" gets claimed everywhere, but the Workforce Management Grid's actual feature scores only back up a couple of platforms on both fronts at once:
- HROne (4.8/5, 2,124 reviews): Labor Forecasting scores 94% and Shift Scheduling scores 95%, both among the highest in the category. Reviewers describe real-time attendance tracking with geo-location built in, along with compliance management that has helped streamline internal processes.
- Homebase (4.6/5, 597 reviews): Shift Scheduling scores 96%, the highest in the category, with Labor Forecasting at 87%. Reviewers describe cutting schedule-building time from a couple of hours down to about 30 minutes, with easy shift swaps and coverage requests built into the workflow.
- BambooHR (4.4/5, 6,723 reviews): Worth flagging as the tradeoff case. It's the highest G2 Score Leader in the category and the most reviewed platform by a wide margin, but its Labor Forecasting (76%) and Shift Scheduling (68%) scores are among the lowest of any Leader. Reviewers consistently praise it for core HR functions like documents, onboarding, and e-signatures, but forecasting and scheduling aren't where it's earning that reputation.
Is the forecasting and scheduling piece the actual priority, or is it more about the broader HR functions a platform like BambooHR is known for? Those can point to different products here.
Worth asking one question before comparing forecasting scores: forecast from what? Demand forecasting needs a demand signal, like POS transactions, call volumes, or foot traffic, and a platform that doesn't ingest one isn't forecasting demand, it's projecting last month's schedule forward. That's also a fair way to read the general-HR options in lists like this: strong systems of record that schedule from templates, which is fine, as long as nobody's buying them for the forecasting line on the datasheet.
