Reducing the High Costs of Data Storage with Data Deduplication
How much data storage do businesses need for storage and backup? Four of the biggest online storage internet companies (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Facebook) store at least 1,200 petabytes (PB), which is 1.2 million terabytes (TB). Even for smaller companies, it is remarkable how much data it manages.

Question on: Veeam Data Platform
Separate licenses?
Are any product components (backup servers, backup proxies, backup repositories) licensed separately?
Veeam recently introduced the Veeam Universal License (VUL). This means Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Agents for Microsoft Windows & Linux, Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV, Veeam Enterprise Plug-ins for Oracle and SAP and much more will leverage VUL. Learn more here: https://www.veeam.com/blog/introducing-new-universal-license.html
No. The product components are not licensed separately. You can deploy as many of these components as you like while licensed to the correct number of sockets.

Question on: Veeam Data Platform
How is Veeam Backup & Replication licensed?
Licensing
Recently, Veeam introduced the simplified Veeam Universal License (VUL), that gives you to the flexibility to choose what to protect, when you need to protect it, no matter where that workload is located. Learn more here: https://www.veeam.com/blog/introducing-new-universal-license.html
Veeam Backup & Replication licenses are purchased on a perpetual basis with basic or production maintenance, or a subscription license which includes Production 24x7 support.
Veeam Backup & Replication is licensed per CPU socket on hosts with virtual machines (VMs) to be backed up, replicated, monitored or reported on. A license is required for each occupied motherboard socket as reported by the hypervisor API.
Note: Target hosts (for replication and migration jobs) do not need to be licensed.

Question on: Veeam Data Platform
What if my virtual environment includes both vSphere and Hyper-V?
vSphere and Hyper-v
Veeam licenses are no longer hypervisor-specific. To get started, simply purchase the correct number of perpetual sockets or subscription instances needed for your virtual environment. Any number or combination of your purchased licenses can be used for VMware vSphere and / or Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
You can purchase licenses for any mix of hypervisors. For example, you may purchase 10 sockets of Veeam Backup & Replication for Hyper-V and 12 sockets of Veeam Backup & Replication for vSphere. You may also swap licenses between hypervisors on an individual socket basis, should you change hypervisor platforms at some future time.
