The session replay overlap question is what I’m exploring here: is Fullstory worth using alongside a product analytics tool, or does it end up being redundant once a team has solid funnel and event tracking in place?
The split seems practical. Fullstory may still be worth it when teams need to query and analyze session behavior at scale, not just watch individual recordings.
It may feel redundant when native replay already gives enough context inside the analytics workflow. LogRocket overlaps heavily because replay is paired with performance, network, and error context. PostHog connects replay directly to events and funnels. Amplitude Analytics makes replay useful for debugging funnel drop-offs inside the same workflow.
I’d be especially interested in how teams kept reporting usable during migration, and what became hardest to trust first.
For a comparison piece, I’m framing Mixpanel vs Amplitude vs Pendo for a growth-stage SaaS team deciding which product analytics platform to standardize on before they scale as a prioritization question, not a straight feature race.
In product analytics, the split looks like this:
- Choose Amplitude Analytics if the priority is deeper behavioral analysis, structured events, and AI-assisted investigation. It works best when the team can maintain good event hygiene.
- Choose Mixpanel if speed and self-serve reporting matter most. It is useful for fast funnel and retention answers without SQL.
- Choose Pendo if analytics need to connect with in-app guidance, feature adoption, NPS, and customer success workflows.
My shorthand: Amplitude for depth, Mixpanel for speed, Pendo for adoption and cross-functional visibility. I’d like to know what usually breaks the tie before standardization.
