Question on: Clio Manage
[What is the purpose of the Accounts tab in Clio Manage if it does not provide real time date on our bank account balances? What is the purpose? What am I missing with it?](/discussions/31163-what-is-the-purpose-of-the-accounts-tab-in-clio-manage-if-it-does-not-provide-real-time-date-on-our-bank-account-balances-what-is-the-purpose-what-am-i-missing-with-it)

What is the purpose of the Clio Manage tab "Accounts"? It does not seem to tie to my bank accounts, yet it purports to do so. The figures are laughably inaccurate!

The purpose of the "Accounts" tab in Clio is to allow firms to set up new trust, operating, escrow, or IOLTA accounts and, of course, manage those accounts. However, there is no accounting function in Clio for operating accounts. Consequently, you cannot reconcile your operating account in Clio. That said, you can keep up with all trust-related transactions and reconcile your trust account(s), which reconciliation should be accurate since it deals strictly with your clients' money. I use that function frequently. To generate a trust account listing report, do the following: 1. Select the "Reports" tab 2. Select "Trust Listing" from the list of available reports 3. Select the appropriate report options based on the criteria you would like to report on 4. Select the "Output format" 5. Click "Generate report" If you would like Clio to add accounting and account reconciliation to its software for operating accounts, you may contact Clio either through email, the in-app chat, or via the support center at 888-858-2546, ext. 2. I am not a Clio representative. I am a Clio user.

[What's your favorite software?](/discussions/29569-what-s-your-favorite-software)

We love Amicus Attorney but want to know how others are finding success

We had previously been using Rainmaker, but have switched over to Rippe. So far it has been a good change, but of course, not without its nuances.

First choice is Aderant (CMS), then 3E Enterprise and if you are small ProLaw and/or QuickBooks. Add-on programs PrebillManager , Chrome River (AP and reimbursements), and eBillingHub (ebilling).

Question on: TimeSolv
[What's the difference between phases and milestones?](/discussions/26701-what-s-the-difference-between-phases-and-milestones)

I'd like to understand the difference, I use milestones simply to apply my monthly retainer, but I am not sure that this is a best practice.

You can use milestones in different ways. A 'billable milestone' allows you to create fixed fee invoices. A regular milestone can represent a date something is due. TimeSolv allows you to keep things very simple or to build out Matter Plans that include phases, tasks, and budgets. If you are just doing a fixed fee invoice, you will not need to worry about phases, etc. If you wish to learn more about matter plans, please visit https://help.timesolv.com/article/317-managing-tasks
