Question on: TrueContext
[What is field service software, and how does TrueContext work?](/discussions/what-is-field-service-software-and-how-does-truecontext-work)

What is field service software, and how does TrueContext work?

Field service software helps organizations manage mobile workforces and field operations. TrueContext is a mobile workflow and field intelligence platform that captures real-time field data and delivers contextual information to technicians exactly when needed through adaptive workflows. Technicians get the right information at the right time, and operations teams get complete visibility into field execution.

[What do field service managers actually look for in FSM software when they are the ones using it day to day, not the people who bought it?](/discussions/what-do-field-service-managers-actually-look-for-in-fsm-software-when-they-are-the-ones-using-it-day-to-day-not-the-people-who-bought-it)

A question mainly for the schedulers, dispatchers, and ops managers here, not the folks who signed the contract: what do you genuinely want from [field service management](https://www.g2.com/categories/field-service-management) software once you're the one living in it every day? What gets bought and what works on the ground often diverge, so I'm anchoring this on hands-on reviews rather than feature checklists. A few tools keep coming up among people actually running the board.

1. [**Skedulo**](https://www.g2.com/products/skedulo/reviews): Reviewers who schedule daily credit the optimizer for suggesting the right tech by travel time, skills, and availability, so they stop mapping jobs by hand. Does the auto-optimizer save enough that you trust it over manual scheduling?
2. [**ServiceTitan**](https://www.g2.com/products/servicetitan/reviews): Dispatchers point to real-time dispatch and full customer and equipment history being visible to office and field alike. Is the day-to-day dispatch view fast enough once you're managing a full board?
3. [**Simpro**](https://www.g2.com/products/simpro/reviews): Reviewers running the schedule value real-time job updates and customizable views, though they mention finding the right report can take some digging. How steep was the learning curve for your dispatchers specifically?
4. [**Connecteam**](https://www.g2.com/products/connecteam/reviews): Managers highlight seeing who has confirmed shifts and who's handling what without chasing calls or texts. For a mobile crew, has the scheduling view actually cut down the back-and-forth?

For the people using FSM software daily rather than buying it, what feature quietly makes or breaks your day that a buyer would probably never notice?

Tried Skedulo, Simpro, ServiceTitan, Connecteam at different jobs. The one thing none of the buyers ever ask about is how fast you can pull up a customer's history mid-call. That's what actually matters at 8am.

[What field service management platform works best for HVAC, plumbing or electrical businesses juggling multiple technicians and job sites?](/discussions/what-field-service-management-platform-works-best-for-hvac-plumbing-or-electrical-businesses-juggling-multiple-technicians-and-job-sites)

I'm in the trades myself and comparing notes for a roundup, so I'd really value input from other HVAC, plumbing, and electrical folks here. The hard part with [field service management](https://www.g2.com/categories/field-service-management) tools for shops like ours is juggling several techs and parts across job sites, which plenty of general tools fumble. The three that surface most for the trades are ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, and FieldEdge, with a couple more worth a look.

1. [**ServiceTitan**](https://www.g2.com/products/servicetitan/reviews): Trades reviewers describe it as the backbone for HVAC and electrical work, tying together real-time dispatch, on-site invoicing, and inventory so techs aren't caught without parts.
2. [**Housecall Pro**](https://www.g2.com/products/housecall-pro/reviews): Reviewers running plumbing, electrical, and HVAC shops point to the offline-capable mobile app and the quote-to-payment flow as what keeps multiple techs moving.
3. [**FieldEdge**](https://www.g2.com/products/fieldedge/reviews): Built for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, reviewers highlight the dispatch board and fast QuickBooks sync for running day-to-day work without the complexity of larger platforms.
4. [**Workiz**](https://www.g2.com/products/workiz/reviews): Reviewers in trades like HVAC and locksmithing call out the built-in phone system and status texts for coordinating a busy dispatch schedule.
5. [**Service Fusion**](https://www.g2.com/products/service-fusion/reviews): Reviewers use its good-better-best estimate packages and customer portal to manage field crews and office work in one place.

For trades running multiple techs across sites, which platform handled dispatch and parts tracking best once things got busy, and what would you steer clear of based on experience?

ServiceTitan is the one everyone in the trades knows but it's also the one that requires the most from you upfront. Worth it once it's dialed in, rough getting there.
