One of the uses of SQL is to manage relational databases associated with external applications. In my case, I use it with the software app hmailserver and Siemens Teamcenter and Solid Edge. In either case, SQL serves as the database server in which data is stored and organized in a reliable way. This is particularly useful when handling large amount of information for an organization, such a production environment, design libraries, among others.
