Running reports are hard

Head to reports tab and click new report. You can also create dashboards or views within your own leads. Need more details on what you are looking for specifically.

Salesforce offers a lot of options in Reports functionality. You can use existing types or create your own data type per your Organization customization and build a report your choice and need.

You can create reports on different types of records. If you are looking for your sales numbers, it would be best to choose the "opportunity" report. Then you can go to the second tab and add filters such as opportunity owner (you) and date that they closed, ect.

There are many different options in terms of types of reports available in SFDC. You can always build a new report from scratch simply by going to Reports and selecting New. However, when you are just starting the easiest approach is to look at the standard reports available in your implementation select something close to what you are looking for and then clone that report and use it as a starting point. It's often not necessary to reinvent the wheel. There are two easy ways to start; 1. Go to the tab for the type of reports you are looking for (Opportunities, Accounts, Leads, Contacts...) or 2. go directly to the reports tab and look for something close to what you want. Once you find something relevant create another version of the same report. Do this by clicking on Edit or Customize then click Save As and give the new report a name, select the location and save it. Once you have saved the report do all of your edits in it and Save it. Different data points are available to put in the report depending on the type. Select the logic you want to generate your report and then choose the columns you want to be displayed. You can group data to make the report easier to read e.g., group by rep name to be able to see totals by rep. You can also have the data in each column summarized if you want to show things like a sum or average.

Salesforce is not necessarily used to improve upon techniques as much as it is to monitor performance. That being said if you’re tracking your leads and your closes you can determine whether or not you’re performing at a level where it might require a better performance on the quality of the leads or the length of time to close.

They are updating annually their NAV product so I would assume they will be updating their CRM application as well.
