Hey G2 community, this is the question every software buyer in the video conferencing space eventually asks: is Zoom worth paying for when Microsoft Teams or Google Meet already comes bundled with the office suite you buy anyway?
The bundling economics are real and nobody is at fault here, suites bundle rationally, and standalone tools have to earn their own line item. The case for Zoom Workplace (4.5, 56,575+ reviews) rests on the moments video is the business: external calls where clients and candidates join without friction because everyone already knows Zoom, high meeting volume where reliability habits matter daily, and webinars and large events that go beyond a bundled tool's comfort zone.
The bundled side, from the video conferencing category:
- Microsoft Teams (4.4, 19,280+ reviews): already there wherever Microsoft 365 is, strongest for internal meetings woven into chat, files, and calendar.
- Google Workspace (4.6, 48,175+): Google Meet included with the suite, browser-first and friction-free for teams living in Gmail and Calendar.
- Webex Suite (4.2, 18,925+): the additional context, a standalone suite making its own version of Zoom's case, usually where Cisco infrastructure already exists.
My read: the bundle wins when meetings are mostly internal; Zoom earns the extra line when your revenue walks in through a meeting link.
For those who want to pay for both a suite and Zoom: what actually justifies the second bill, and for those who want to drop Zoom for the bundle, what do you actually miss out on?
For me, the second bill becomes harder to justify once most meetings are held within the company. Zoom still makes a stronger case when external calls are constant, though. The real comparison isn’t feature-for-feature; it’s whether clients and candidates experience enough less friction to make paying twice worthwhile.
Have anyone used HelpScout? Seems complicated. I tried to be oriented, but got lost. Wanted to get students after class satisfaction survey and could not yet make it happen. Can anyway assist in step-by-step Guide?
We used only zoom during pandemic. Still same, not so new things. Now better ways to communicate with alternatives.
