What do you like best about YugabyteDB?

YugabyteDB still stands out for its strong PostgreSQL compatibility, which makes migrations and lift-and-shift scenarios much easier. The distributed architecture is solid and provides good horizontal scalability and high availability out of the box. I also appreciate the flexibility to use standard PostgreSQL tools and drivers, which reduces the learning curve for teams already familiar with Postgres. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about YugabyteDB?

Over time, the operational complexity became more noticeable, especially when managing clusters, tuning performance, and handling upgrades. Troubleshooting distributed query performance or latency issues is not always straightforward, and observability/debugging could be improved. In some cases, the behavior diverges from vanilla PostgreSQL, which can introduce unexpected edge cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is YugabyteDB solving and how is that benefiting you?

Scaling our databases has been much easier with YugabyteDB. It addresses the challenge of scaling a traditional PostgreSQL database horizontally without sacrificing consistency. Rather than relying on vertical scaling or complicated sharding strategies, it offers a distributed architecture with automatic data partitioning, replication, and high availability.
