It provides useful features such as API security, monitoring, analytics, and easy integration with different services. The platform is highly customizable and helps simplify API development, publishing, and management in one place. **What do you dislike about WSO2 API Platform?** One thing I dislike about WSO2 API Platform is that the initial setup and configuration can be complex, especially for beginners. Some features also require detailed documentation and technical understanding to configure properly. In certain cases, performance tuning and troubleshooting can take additional time and effort. **Recommendations to others considering WSO2 API Platform:** I definitely recommend this solution. Primary products in this category are API Manager, AI Gateway, API Gateway, Moesif and MCP hub. I have been existing user of API Manager product. However with launch of API Manager 4.6, I have been involved in the migration from 4.1 to 4.6 and food some exciting features related to AI. The user interface has some changes and it's consistent in publisher, devportal, admin portal and the management console. AI Gateway, API gateway Federation and MCP hub are some really important features that are aligned with future requirements and customer vision. The pricing model was some core based for on-remise or IAAS deployments on cloud. However, the analytics platform Moesif is separately charged so we planned to go with open source version ELK based analytics to meet existing customer requirements. The SaaS version of the product comes with minimal configuration and as we evaluated the product, there is no dependency on infra setup due to SaaS offering. The product support has been enhanced with AI capabilities ; i.e. now we have now AI support assistant allowed by the customer success team. Query resolution time has been reduced now. Cloud as well as on premise offerings has same top notch performance in APIs accessibility. **What do you dislike about WSO2 API Platform?** The publisher portal UI is a little confusing due to a mix of everything on a same page. Moesif analytics is charged separately despite of a WSO2 product family; this results in product usage missing due to budget constraint. **What problems is WSO2 API Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** With evolution of generative AI, it's important to control the tokens usage on respective LLM provider. AI gateway is extremely helpful to manage AI tokens usage. APIs monetization with Moesif has now better capabilities in analytics, custom dashboards and billing engine integrations. So, along with API management, it's now AI native API management solution with future ready solution. Highly recommended in open-source family. ### 3. Additionally, I found the initial setup very easy, and I find it very useful and effective to centralize the most important configurations in one file. As a user, I now also really like the AI-driven enhancements – especially the AI Gateway that lets me govern and manage AI APIs with guardrails, dynamic routing across multiple AI models, real-time analytics, and fine-grained controls for AI usage. I can expose my APIs as MCP servers for AI agents to discover and interact with, and I get smarter automation across design, testing, documentation, discovery, and governance with AI-assisted spec generation, natural-language testing, and AI-powered developer portal support. With the growing number of APIs and adoption of microservices architecture, it's required to have a central place to discover and manage the APIs. WSO2 API Manager provides a rich developer portal to discover the APIs. OpenAPI specification support in API Manager makes it easy to create and manage API definitions. The latest release of WSO2 API Manager v4.5 has come up with API powered capabilities like- Create an API with design assistant, API chat to test the API, AI powered multi-model routing for different AI APIs definitely helps in optimal resource utilization. BYOG i.e. bring your own gateway support with WSO2 API manager is like a magic bullet to integrate existing gateways like AWS API Gateway or any custom one. We have tested out the feature and it work seamlessly. I have also found the improvements in existing capabilities like role-based access control, improved logging and observability, auditing and API documentation. So now your API creator and publisher can see the key parameters missing while creating and publishing an API and that's a big move towards standardization of APIs. GraphQL APIs creation has been simplified with the latest release. The latest tutorials on their LMS portal (lms.wso2.com) is updated, so developers can quickly engage with the training and start using the features. **What do you dislike about WSO2 API Platform?** Migration process can be improved. For API mocking capabilities are still lagging which is available in other platforms. Version 4.x is completely revamped, and I observed the backward compatibility is challenging. Devportal customization can be simplified. **Recommendations to others considering WSO2 API Platform:** If you are planning for any API Management & Integration solution, WSO2 is the right choice which you can try at Zero cost. So I would suggest deploying WSO2 APIM and checking out the product features and doing some proof-of-concept as well. This will give more confidence towards product adoption. **What problems is WSO2 API Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the problem of API management i.e. we had a use case where we needed to expose the business services via a secured layer with solid governance. We have deployed WSO2 API Manager and it has helped & benefited in the following ways- 1. Easy adoption; minimal effort to deploy WSO2 APIM 2. I have implemented fine-grained access control via scopes and has worked perfectly 3. WSO2 APIM has helped to secure more than 100 services with different types of cyber attacks. 4.
