"The best word processor out there, hands down"

What do you like best about WordPerfect Word Processor?

WordPerfect is a long-running, best-in-class word processor that is far more user-friendly and intuitive than competitors like Microsoft Word. The two best things about it are the "Reveal Codes" feature which allows you to see and edit the actual formatting codes embedded in your document (XML-based since long before most of us knew what XML was!), and the easy ability to use pre-built or custom keyboard shortcuts. If you want to be productive, WordPerfect is the way to go -- as the legal community knows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WordPerfect Word Processor?

One big downside to WordPerfect is the relative lack of wide adoption. In a perfect world, .WPD format would be more ubiquitous than .DOC(X) format, but unfortunately we don't live in that world. If you want to share your WordPerfect documents outside the community of users, you'll need to convert to .DOC format, and the converter leaves a bit to be desired. What problems is WordPerfect Word Processor solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've used WordPerfect in various incarnations steadily since the mid '80s. So many of my documents from the past 40 years are in WordPerfect format that I can't imagine ever willingly giving it up. When I write fiction, poetry, essays, or technical document, all my keyboard shortcuts and specialized macros are right there at my fingertips. The great thing is, the latest version of WordPerfect can still read those early docs because the format has stayed backward-compatible all this time! Ditto for the PerfectScript macro language, which amazingly still works. This just points out how well thought out all those features were back in the day. (Full disclosure -- I was a developer on WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS and related projects way back in the early '90s, but I have not worked for the company or had any other financial interest in it since 1994.)
