"Essential Tool for Consistent and Clear Communications"
4/5
What do you like best about Word Counts?

What I like best about Word Counts is how simple, focused, and frictionless it is for my daily market research and survey-building workflow at Summit Wealth Management Group. Unlike bulky office tools that come with tons of unnecessary features I never use, Word Counts only does word counting, and it does it really well. My main job is building investor experience questionnaires on Pointerpro, and I constantly need to check and refine my survey content to make sure my questions are clear, concise, and professional for our portfolio clients. Before using this tool, I had to rely on Microsoft Word’s built-in counter, which was slow and disruptive to my workflow. Word Counts gives me instant, accurate word count results the second I paste my text in, so I can edit my survey prompts, intro paragraphs, and client feedback summaries without breaking my focus. What I appreciate most is that it helps me maintain consistent writing standards across all my quarterly and annual investor surveys. I follow strict internal length guidelines for different types of survey content, and this tool lets me quickly verify whether my questions are too wordy or too brief. This directly improves survey readability, reduces respondent fatigue, and boosts our survey completion rates, which makes our market sentiment data far more reliable. I also use it to trim down long open-ended investor comments when I prepare internal research summaries for our wealth advisors and leadership. It requires no complex setup, no training, and has zero learning curve, which is perfect for our small lean team with no dedicated editorial support. Overall, it’s a lightweight but essential quality control tool that keeps all my client-facing research content polished, consistent, and professional year-round. What do you dislike about Word Counts?

While Word Counts works well for basic word checking, it has several noticeable limitations that create repetitive manual work in my survey-building process. The biggest downside is that it only provides generic word tallies with no customizable preset rules tailored for market research or survey design. In my role, I create many different types of survey content on Pointerpro, including short multiple-choice questions, detailed introductory context, instruction text for open-ended feedback, and closing survey statements. Each of these content types needs its own unique word count limit to keep surveys clean and readable for investors. Right now, Word Counts cannot save custom thresholds or category-based limits, so I have to constantly reference my separate Excel checklist to compare every text block manually. It also lacks automated alert features, so I have no way to instantly know if a question exceeds my ideal length range. Another frustrating issue is that the tool’s counting logic is very basic and cannot filter out financial-specific content I use every day. My investor surveys often include fund ticker symbols, percentage numbers, industry abbreviations, and bullet points, which all skew the raw word count. This makes it harder for me to accurately judge how much actual readable text my clients are seeing. I always have to double-check readability manually on top of using the tool. These small limitations add up significantly when I’m building and auditing full quarterly survey sets with 20+ questions. It means extra repetitive work and prevents me from fully standardizing my survey quality process in one single tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
