Onboarding is simplified by sharing team workflows via Warp Drive, and the integrated Agentic Development Environment allows our engineers to trigger autonomous code generation and refactoring directly within the terminal, maintaining high velocity without compromising our security posture. AI credits run out too quickly for heavy users, effectively pushing them to either pay overages or bring their own API keys. The memory footprint is roughly 2–3x higher than iTerm2, and customization still trails iTerm2 by a wide margin. It also requires an internet connection and an account sign-in, which is a non-starter for privacy-conscious shops and for offline workflows.
It doesn’t render Jupyter notebooks, which limits its usefulness for data science and notebook-centric work. The pricing volatility in 2025–2026 also damaged trust among early adopters on Hacker News. And because the cloud agents aren’t local, sensitive codebases can’t use the more advanced features.
