What I like most about VMware vSAN is how seamlessly it integrates with the existing VMware ecosystem. Having compute and storage managed from the same interface makes infrastructure administration considerably easier. I also appreciate the flexibility of scaling storage as requirements grow, without having to invest in a completely separate storage solution. The policy-based storage management is particularly useful because it gives you control over availability and performance without introducing unnecessary complexity into everyday operations. My biggest concern with VMware vSAN is the licensing cost, especially with the changes to VMware's licensing model. It can be difficult to justify the investment for smaller environments where more affordable alternatives might do the job just as well. Another frustration is that while everyday management is fairly straightforward, troubleshooting can get complicated quickly, particularly when storage performance or network issues are involved. There's also a fair amount of vendor lock-in, which is worth considering when planning infrastructure for the long term. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
