## Umbraco Reviews
  ### 1. A Flexible CMS That Scales with Business Needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JERIN J. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I've been using Umbraco for several years, and what I like most is the balance between flexibility for developers and ease of use for content editors. Editors can update content without needing much help, and as a developer, I have the freedom to build custom solutions without feeling limited by the CMS.

Umbraco Cloud has made deployments much smoother and saves us a lot of time when managing different environments. We also use Umbraco Engage, which helps us better understand user behavior and create more personalized experiences for our clients.

The newer AI features and MCP support are a nice addition and have started making some everyday tasks faster. I also like how easy it is to integrate Umbraco with other systems and APIs, which is something we do on almost every project.

Performance has been solid, even on larger websites, and the platform has been reliable. Whenever I've had questions, the documentation and the Umbraco community have been really helpful. There's almost always someone willing to help or share a solution.

Overall, Umbraco has become my preferred CMS because it's reliable, modern, and gives us everything we need to build and maintain websites efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

One area that could be improved is the pricing model for Umbraco Engage. Some clients only need specific features, but they currently have to pay for the full product. It would be great if Engage offered more flexible pricing, allowing customers to choose only the features they need and pay accordingly.

I've also noticed that more clients are asking for personalization and audience segmentation. Making these capabilities more accessible through flexible plans would help more businesses adopt Engage without the higher upfront cost.

Other than that, I haven't encountered any major issues. Overall, I've had a very positive experience with Umbraco.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the biggest problems Umbraco has solved for us is managing content from multiple systems. In one of our recent projects, the client was using three different content platforms. Managing content across all of them was time-consuming, inconsistent, and difficult for the content team.

We migrated everything into a single Umbraco solution. Now the client manages all their content from one place, which has simplified their workflow, reduced maintenance, and made training much easier for their editors.

From a development perspective, Umbraco's flexibility has also helped us build custom features and integrate with other business systems without being limited by the CMS. Combined with Umbraco Cloud, deployments and content synchronization are much smoother, allowing us to deliver updates faster and with fewer issues.

Overall, Umbraco has helped us reduce complexity, improve the editor experience, and deliver projects more efficiently while lowering the ongoing maintenance effort for our clients.

  ### 2. Flexible CMS with strong usability and reliable support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

What I like most about Umbraco is that projects can be implemented incredibly smoothly with it. Even complex requirements suddenly seem easy to solve because the system is very clearly structured and you quickly reach your goal. The ease of implementation is one of the biggest advantages – from the initial configuration to ongoing content maintenance, everything works remarkably smoothly. Clients also find their way around well without long training, which significantly simplifies the entire process.

We use Umbraco in almost all web projects because the implementation works so efficiently and the results are reliably convincing. If questions arise, you quickly get competent support – whether through the support team or the active community. Additionally, Umbraco can be seamlessly integrated with other systems, making it a true all-rounder in daily use.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

What is sometimes challenging are smaller details that only become apparent during larger projects – for example, that some extensions or integrations still need some fine-tuning. Updates can also occasionally mean effort if you have implemented very individual solutions.

None of this is a real obstacle, but it shows that Umbraco really plays to its strengths when you work with it regularly and take some time to really get to know the system and configure it optimally.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A major problem that Umbraco solves for us is the combination of technical flexibility and editorial simplicity. Many CMS systems are either very developer-heavy or too limited for complex requirements – Umbraco strikes the perfect balance here.

This allows our clients to maintain content independently and without the need for training, while we as an agency can implement technically demanding setups and integrations without any issues. This saves a tremendous amount of time in projects, reduces support requests, and ensures long-term customer satisfaction and stable solutions.

  ### 3. Highly Scalable and Easy to Use, But the Cloud Version Needs Improvements

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noé G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I enjoy the visibility that Umbraco offers me regarding its functionality, which allows me to understand it and make the most of it. I appreciate that it is an Open Source platform, with a large community behind it, which I feel gives it a strong foundation for support and growth. Additionally, I find that Umbraco is quite scalable and flexible, which is a significant advantage for my web projects. The initial setup of Umbraco is very simple, which makes starting to use it a comfortable and hassle-free process.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

The cloud version is currently in a gray area where it is not entirely viable for certain markets.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Umbraco because it is an Open Source platform that offers scalability and flexibility. I also like the visibility it provides to understand and make the most of it.

  ### 4. Intuitive CMS with fast functionality, needs workflow tool improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emilie B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I love how Umbraco has great functionality, allowing tasks like uploading results to be completed in seconds thanks to simple import/export tools. The user experience is seamless and intuitive, making it easy for everyone to find what they need swiftly. I like that the CMS and frontend are simple to use and the interface is smooth and not clunky. It's also easy to train other staff and the CMS navigation is clear. Plus, it's easy to build pages.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Some challenges with the workflow tool which could be improved to ensure users can easily request publication of their work. There have been errors with it working and not allowing users to request publication of their pages.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Umbraco's simple import/export tools save time, turning tasks that took hours into seconds, and the seamless, intuitive user experience helps families, supporters, and professionals find what they need swiftly. Training staff is easy due to the clear CMS navigation.

  ### 5. Friendly for both editors and developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Søren K. | Webudvikler, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

You can tailor the editor experience to the smallest detail, Umbraco doesn't impose any practises on you, so the end product will fit the client needs, instead of you trying to fit the clients needs to the end product.

In addition to that, you can extend Umbraco in any way possible, making it a great choise for both small and larger projects.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Steep barrier entry, if you are used to products like WordPress, where you get a lot out of the box. This is probably not a bad thing, because you then don't have to disable all kinds of unneeded features.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco can integrate in any way. I have built sites for all kinds of businesses, automatically importing content from other vendors, and delivering content to 3rd parties.

  ### 6. Scalable, Flexible, and Easy to Use—Umbraco Delivers

What I like best about Umbraco is its scalability, flexibility, and ease of use. It provides a great editing experience for content managers while giving developers the freedom to build customized solutions. The platform is reliable, well-supported, and suitable for projects of all sizes.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

While Umbraco is a powerful platform, some advanced features and customizations can require additional development expertise. Major version upgrades may also require careful planning and testing to ensure compatibility.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco helps us solve content management challenges by providing a flexible and user-friendly platform for managing websites. It enables faster content updates, reduces dependency on developers for routine changes, and improves overall efficiency. This allows us to deliver better digital experiences while saving time and resources.

  ### 7. Umbraco CMS truly is the Friendly CMS!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

The community is simply one of the friendliest and welcoming bunch of people you will ever meet!

Setting up Umbraco is easy and simple.

I use Umbraco CMS daily as a web developer and also as a blog owner. There are many features out of the box. Third party package integrations are easy to install. Integrations range from small property editors through to complex workflows and data integrations with third party services.

Support through their official forums comes from both official employees of the company and community members.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Documentation can be hard to find but their latest efforts are to be noted in newer versions of Umbraco

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Content Management
Content Approvals/Staging
Membership information
Complex integrations

  ### 8. Easy to Get Started With, Backed by Great Community and Solid Documentation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tanya D. | mascot for the mall fisketorvet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

It’s easy to access and get started with. The community is great, and the documentation is solid as well.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I don’t really dislike Umbraco. The only downside for me is every time we have to migrate something for next version. Especially on the frontend backoffice part and for custom packages.. A lot has changed over the years, which makes those migrations more of a hassle. .. but changes are good often

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s easy for our customers to use and straightforward for us developers to set up. I also like that it isn’t trying to do more than we need. Compared to e.g. Sitecore, it’s much easier to navigate.

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I love how flexible, fast, and easy to understand Umbraco is. The community's uniqueness and helpfulness stand out to me, as well as the excellent collaboration between Umbraco HQ and this community. Everyone shows such passion and dedication to building great things for users. I also appreciate the open source/commercial hybrid approach, which is well balanced and makes Umbraco potentially appropriate for both small and enterprise clients. The initial setup was very easy, which is a big plus.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

It would be nice to see Umbraco gain more of a foothold in the enterprise DXP / CMS space, as it's currently monopolized by enormous, expensive solutions.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Umbraco flexible, fast, and easy to understand. It provides a great editor experience, a strong community, and supports both small and enterprise clients. Switching from Drupal improved our user interface and editor experience.
