Over the 10+ years I’ve been using Umbraco, it has maintained its ease of use for both editors and developers, while still staying on the frontier of CMS technology. Umbraco has also remained free, yet it’s managed to sustain a profitable business model. The paid offerings aren’t cheap, but they deliver strong value for customers.

It’s straightforward to integrate with third-party systems, and Umbraco continues to support a healthy marketplace and ecosystem where contributions are encouraged. Performance is better than ever, with a small footprint on server infrastructure. Umbraco.AI has also remained free (which I wasn’t expecting!), and I’m excited to see how customers use it to speed up onboarding and populating a site with content, as well as general editorial work. Not much, to be honest. The main challenge I’ve found when selling Umbraco to clients is that it’s still relatively unknown in the market, although that does seem to be changing. I also think the price point of the paid offerings can be a hurdle. For example, Umbraco Engage is very expensive for the level of client I typically work with.
