## About UltraEdit
UltraEdit is a text and code editor built for work that general-purpose editors often struggle with: large files, complex data manipulation, and security-sensitive workflows. It has been in the market for more than 30 years, is used by over 4 million users worldwide, and is trusted by enterprise customers across the Fortune 100, 500, and 1000. Individual users choose UltraEdit when everyday editors start to hit their limits. Common use cases include working with very large files, running advanced search and replace, using column and block editing, and handling more complex text and data manipulation. Organizations choose UltraEdit when they need a more secure and supportable editor behind sensitive workflows. That includes teams in banking, insurance, healthcare, government, and other regulated or risk-sensitive environments where unsupported tools can create too much uncertainty. Key capabilities: - Performance under heavy tasks, including support for files above 4 GB - Advanced search and replace - Column and block editing for structured data tasks - Complex text and data manipulation - Offline activation for restricted environments - Commercial support with priority handling for critical concerns Often called the "Swiss army knife" of text editors, UltraEdit is a tool that no IT professional should be without. From programming and project management to large file manipulation, from data sorting and text record formatting to remote (FTP/SFTP) file operations, from advanced file searching and text data reformatting, there's almost no problem that UltraEdit can't solve in the world of text editing. UltraEdit is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux and is backed by a professional development team and support staff.

## UltraEdit Reviews
  ### 1. Provides tools to code more efficiently and to preview more easily

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hanna Y. | Senior Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

The ability to preview the generated code is extremely helpful since I don't have to upload and view pages is actual testing environments. UltraEdit is also great at search and replace functionality, which is an action that is central to coding and performing updates. Once editing feature that helps me to odd multiple lines at the same time is the vertical text select feature. Instead of editing line by line, I can place the cursor across multiple lines and apply text edits to all the lines at once.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

UltraEdit isn't the type of web development tool that allows for much visual editing that many web builder have. For instance, we can select various components into place such as an image gallery or submit form. UltraEdit is essentially a professional code editing application that requires the user to have significant understanding in programming languages.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

I started using UltraEdit after finding out how popular and widely used it is among established web programmers and developers. I recommend doing a side-by-side analysis of the capabilities or UltraEdit compared to your current editor to see if it's worth switching.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UltraEdit is used by me and many other colleagues to edit PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript for web development. We can reduce the amount of tasks involved in editing code through advanced search features, visual previews and mass editing tools that let us select multiple instance of code to edit all at once. There are also ways for us to adjust the layout of the software so that it suits our particular work space and color preferences.

  ### 2. Ultra edit is a must for load fiels

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathleen C. | Paralegal, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2020

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Ability to easily read load files and locate errors

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Like any new application, I have to spend some time in the help section, but was able to find what I needed.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

A must for reading load files

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Load file errors received from third parties

  ### 3. Code editor with a lot of customization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro B. | Ingeniero de Desarrollo Junior , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

UltraEdit has an incredible user interface. I like the design of the template, the colors and the size of the letters. Also the unlimited number of add-ons it has. It has excellent autocomplete and debug functions that make my life happy. It is easy to manage and use the complementary options.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

It takes a long time to load large projects and create custom keyboard shortcuts can become a difficult task. I think it would be great to have an interface to add and modify the keyboard shortcuts. I have also had problems with the FTP function that does not recognize the local server of the company where I work.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

I recommend it to those people who like to personalize their own work environment. UltraEdit is ideal for web development. It has an excellent auto-save system and good add-ons.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reading the code is very easy to carry out in UltraEdit. It is easy to differentiate the lines of code, use suggestions in terms of syntax and customize the layout for a more comfortable view. In addition, it is perfect for web development.

  ### 4. The longest-standing top-tier text editor, with many POWERFUL AND CUSTOMIZABLE features.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Norkis P. | Analista de programación, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I really like this program for its multiple features offered to the user. I can open and manipulate different types of files -txt, xml among others without any problems. I can configure different display styles for different types of files, and every time I open files, the program recognizes them quickly and easily. I can choose the way it works and change all the data in a file with columns and not just by rows. Another feature that I find useful to highlight is that if you wish, you can easily change one word or symbol to another and save your current data so that they are available for the next opened file.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

What I dislike given my user experience is that there are less important functions like Macro and Scripting that need improvement. I also dislike the font size adjustment; I would like to have the possibility to increase the font size just for temporary viewing.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

This is a program that I recommend and will always recommend confidently and openly to everyone in the world as it is the best and longest-standing editor for many file formats with a great and outstanding number of functions. Use it yourself, you who are reading me, also with complete confidence.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems I generally solve with this great tool are being able to resolve quickly and efficiently in the development environment. It is a very useful tool for working with text files, programming files, and other types of files that I need to edit and change frequently.

  ### 5. I've used this for 12 years!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen J. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

What I love about UltraEdit are the powerful features. I especially like the Scripting feature, and because I am familiar with JavaScript programming this is quite easy to use. More so I like being able to configure User Tools so that I can turn UE into my own bespoke IDE that integrates with software such as MS SQL Server in order to quickly produce things like DDL and CRUD Stored Procedures. Of course, when it comes to large file handling you can usually rely upon UE. What impresses people that look over my shoulder is when I use the Find in Files feature. They are blown away by the performance. Another favourite of mine is the Templates feature. So easy to type a couple of characters and depending upon the type of file being edited, you can quickly insert boiler plate code when necessary. Very importantly, the Support at IDM is fantastic and I have always received prompt and satisfactory resolutions to everything I have raised. Having said that, the software is pretty reliable. I've only had to contact Support a handful of times in 12 years!

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

There isn't much I dislike. Although the jury is out on the usefulness of the Document Map. I found on a high resolution monitor that the zoom levels available where unable to render the text in the Document Map readable enough in order to be useful to navigate a large document.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UltraEdit has boosted by productivity. It has made mundane coding tasks a doddle.

  ### 6. Ultraedit, faster and more powerful text editor.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel A. | Software Programmer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Ultraedit is a lightweight and powerful text editor. I use it at home and especially for programming tasks. It is particularly useful for web development as it automatically includes subtitles. We can also preview the changes on the internet that are generated when editing CSS or HTML documents.

What I really like about Ultraedit:
- The minimal consumption of CPU or RAM is genuinely very mild and fast.
- The graphical user interface (issues) is very satisfactory by default, mainly the default font.
- Supports 1/3 party plugins
- Multi-platform, I have used it at home on Windows and Linux without any problems.
- Built-in internet browser for previewing changes

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

What I no longer liked about Ultraedit:
- Its market share is a bit low, making it complicated to find facts about Ultraedit on the internet due to the community not being very large.
- Although it works very well with HTML or CSS, you cannot say the same about desktop languages like Java, where you need more equipment like a debugger.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

I recommend that you edit your code in Ultraedit, especially when developing HTML or CSS websites, as you can preview changes to speed up the emergence of websites. There are no licensing fees involved.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Ultraedit to edit web pages in HTML and CSS because I can quickly preview changes and purchases. I also use it to manage configuration files as it is faster than various editors.

  ### 7. Powerful tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David L. | Content Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

The customer support is great, the functionality of the product is great, it does everything I need it to do, If you are working with text files in the GB size range UE is fast and powerful, it has a great search function, and plenty of built in tools to help you with whatever the task may be.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I like everything! The customer support is great, the functionality of the product is great, it does everything I need it to do, If you are working with text files in the GB size range UE is fast and powerful, it has a great search function, and plenty of built in tools to help you with whatever the task may be.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

This is a rock solid product, that is well supported, you wont regret giving it a try.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving, proofing, editing, searching, and reporting on large text files in excess of 4 GB!

  ### 8. Simple but powerful code editor

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David R. | Web Designer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

This code editor surprised me because, although it has many options, it is very lightweight in terms of its operation, RAM memory, and CPU consumption. Actions are executed quickly without apparent delay or lag, as they are very smooth. Ultraedit by default has a variety of themes for all tastes or needs, as it includes both light and dark themes. Personally, my favorite is the light for the day and the dark for the night, as it allows my eyes to rest more.

Some of the default features that caught my attention include the native implementation of an FTP client that is very well designed and can help get rid of complicated FTP programs if we only want to download or upload files remotely.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

The graphical interface of the application personally doesn't appeal to me much as it looks somewhat outdated and hardly presents any default colors. With the themes that can be installed in the application, it improves a bit, but the skin remains the same, so it doesn't improve much in the visual aspect.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Although the license may be somewhat cheaper, I recommend its purchase, especially if you are a programmer and need to use the editor every day, the paid license version has improvements that the free version does not have.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the application to edit HTML or CSS code most of the time, but sometimes also PHP. Ultraedit has worked very well and helps me to edit files quickly. When the files are very large, the search option is especially useful.

  ### 9. Good editor for ASM and Java code

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Terrence G. | Web Designer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I am an UltraEdit user with an active license for many years and I mainly use the application to edit text files or simple settings and also to program in ASM and Java. For ASM any editor is useful to me but in Java it is very useful for the auto completion that implements the application which is very accurate for the code suggestions.

The application is one of the oldest and most powerful code editors that exist today although it is not updated too often, it is still very useful today to make changes to files. The application also supports different encoding types such as ANSI or UTF-8 so it is possible to use special characters from other languages such as Japanese or Chinese.

It is also possible to open several files at the same time using the tabs, incidentally also supports different types of files including excels and .csv formats.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

The graphical interface is not bad but the themes included by default are somewhat outdated so the visual experience is not as pleasant as in other applications or similar code editors.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

UltraEdit is highly recommended to edit code and you can try it for free for 30 days by downloading the application on its website. I recommend that you change the theme by default to a darker one so that your view does not look resentful while you use the application.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The graphical interface is not bad but the themes included by default are somewhat outdated so the visual experience is not as pleasant as in other applications or similar code editors. The keyboard shortcuts are somewhat different and some are a little complicated but it is possible to change them for those that adapt better to you.

  ### 10. UltraEdit helps me out with binary files

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mathijs v. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

As a frequent user of UltraEdit/UltraCompare i like the ease of modifying/editing binary files. While other texteditors can handle text very well, UltraEdit is the only solution for me with binary HEX files. Cut and Paste, Append, Seach for HEX values, and of course the Smart Binary compare in UltraEdit. Smooth operation between UltraEdit and Ultracompare is also a nice feature.

One last thing that i like is that i could activate UltraEdit and Ultracompare on more than one PC, so i did not had to bother about signing in every time, deactivating licenses. It could just do my work at any place i would like to. I think the Activation was limited to about 3 systems, which is enough (laptop, desktop, another desktop)

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

The only thing that i don't like is the nag screen saying that there is an update available but NOT free for me (outside update period). I rather only see update screens that are available for me as a customer. Sometimes more features are not always desirable for me. I rather have rock solid basic features that allow me do my work than have tens of options that just work average. Just stay strong in the core functionality.

Recommendation: Please don't send so many emails about update price offers.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

UltraEdit / UltraCompare is the robust solution handling any kind of file, including binary HEX files.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assembling firmware's for several of our devices, Comparing Flash readouts of corrupted/faulty controllers.

  ### 11. The Swiss knife to edit hundreds or thousands of text based files with a few clicks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holger D. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I used UltraEdit an long time to edit my WEB-sites because I was able to change content in hundreds of files at the same time. Also for all kinds programming languages I like the syntax highlighting and the syntax suggestions according to the current programming language. At first I used it to find and edit errors in huge text files of AutoCAD DXF (Drawing interchange format) Files. Also the program has a lot of possibilities to fit the user interface to your needs.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

It is really hard to find something what I don´t like because, if you think, the program should have this or that function a search in the help shows, that the program already has it.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

One big benefit is, that you get UltraCompare for no charge along with UltraEdit. You can also edit with it, but it is a very mighty tool to compare files with highlighting the differences.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WEB-Site editing, comparing files, programming (AutoLISP)

  ### 12. Simple but powerful code editor

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander R. | Graphic Designer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

This code editor surprised me because although it has many options it is very light in terms of its operation, ram memory and cpu consumption, the actions are executed quickly without delay or lag apparent as they are very fluid. Ultraedit has by default a variety of themes for all tastes or needs as it includes both light and dark themes, personally my favorite is the light for day and dark for night as it allows a greater rest of my eyes.

Some default feature that I call my attention is the native implementation of an FTP client that is very well designed and that can help to get rid of complicated FTP programs if we only want to download or upload files remotely.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Although the themes that are included natively have a good choice of colors can not say the same of the source used by the application because it shows a certain lack of aliasing at the source, at first I thought it could be my computer or monitor but changing to another source such as "Consoles" the problem is solved.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Although the license may be somewhat cheaper, I recommend your purchase especially if you are a programmer and you need to use the editor every day, the version of the payment license has improvements that the free version does not have.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the application to edit HTML or CSS code most of the time but sometimes also PHP, Ultraedit has worked very well and it helps me to be able to edit files quickly, when the files are very large the search option is especially useful .

  ### 13. Great alternative for advanced text editors

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco L. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

It is a very advanced application that has a large number of options that make UltraEdit a highly customizable editor in all its aspects. It allows to open different files in the same application by means of a tab, which is very useful if we have a dual monitor configuration because we can have a tab on the screen and thus accelerate our efficiency.

It is also very useful to search using regular expressions not only in the file that is currently open but in all the files of the directory that we decide.

In summary:
- Multi-platform support for Windows, Linux and MacOS, although I've only tried it on Windows and Linux, I think they work the same.
- It has simple autocompletion, that is, it does not detect the programming language but it is based on the text already written in the document.
- I am amazed how he handles large files without presenting any type of slowdown.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Although it is possible to choose between different themes for the interface and the text, by default it is not very nice, especially in the theme of fonts that do not look good as if they did not have anti-aliasing applied so they look somewhat pixelated on their edges .

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Try to try several editors before deciding, for example ultraedit has several versions depending on whether you buy the license or not. I recommend you try the normal version first of all because this version already has everything necessary in my opinion.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was looking for an application that I could use in different operating systems because in the work I use Windows while at home I use Linux and I do not like the idea of using two different editors in each place, with UltraEdit I can use the same editor anywhere. In addition this editor is very complete and especially useful to search over text files by means of regular expressions.

  ### 14. Amazing editing program

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

All in one editing tool.Built in formatting for every programming language, plus useful features like column mode, conversions and more. Have used it for many years. Handles large text files with ease and makes manipulating the contents manageable.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Not much to dislike here. Really, it's just a great text editor. I guess price can always be cheaper, but honestly, it's pretty inexpensive.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's my go-to program for any test editing. Simple as that. Any time you need to work with a large flat file, this can make your life so much simpler.

  ### 15. Ultimate Ease of Use, Functionality, and Customizability!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David Y. | Senior Programmer/Developer, Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Being able to stay in one application and access files via multiple methods, tabbed files, search and replace multiple lines simultaneously, file comparison (great for QA/TEST/Production management)

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Not an IDM issue, but my "work" computer is not able to take advantage of the online update feature, and when I do update I cannot connect to the licensing server and must go through the manual process every time.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

If you are responsible to writing, editing, and managing code and code products, there is no superior product than UltraEdit and UESuite! Other products pale by comparison.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WIth color coding, bracket matching, and code folding features I am able to focus on just what I need, and it is so much easier to find everything in all my work projects.

  ### 16. So good after the years!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Andres F. | Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I use the regular expresion capabilities in Find and replace to change pieces of code to whatever I need. I also appreciate the ability to open and change huge files.

I bought UE more than 10 years ago and I liked its simplicity. Yet it is a powerful editor that adapted pretty well to my day-to-day. During this years I have used it to code with different laguages, a couple of binary editions, but the most of the time I edit files using regular expressions. Its pretty handy to do it from your text editor instead having to write some code to perform the same job.

The support rocks!!!! after more than 10 years they keep answering and solving the issues I found on the way after reinstalling the app after a HDD swap!

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Newer versions added many options and I enjoy the simplicity of older ones. I kept using 8.20. However In not really doing heavy coding, but simple day-to-day tasks.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Go ahead! its a great app with superb support. Here the ability to be supported could be the difference, because there are developing environments that are free to use, but you will find no supoprt at all.

Regular expressions in search and replace are a great tool for many day-to-day jobs. Its easy to get use to their syntax specially if you have used them somewhere else.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using regular expresions I solve a lot of things, from changing text sparators to create scripts by copying a simple code and modifying it ...

  ### 17. UltraEdit is invaluable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary W. | Business Manager, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2016

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Once you use UltraEdit you'll never use Notepad again. This is the greatest text editor ever. My favorite function - understanding that I use a fraction of its power - is the ability to independently edit columns. I don't know any other program that will do that. I also like that the company tests its upgrades before releasing them - what a concept! Every software company should be as careful as the folks at UltraEdit.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Nothing. This program is bulletproof - I have never had a problem with it.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Get it now! This is a great program made by a great company.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to edit cranky HTML code, clean up messy Word files that have hidden code problems, sort data and, of course, edit columns.

  ### 18. I've been using UltraEdit for more than a decade

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ted O. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

This is an editor that can handle just about anything you can throw at it. EBCDIC over FTP? No problem. That little config file that you have to keep up to date? No problem. It's intuitive, easy to configure, and fast, like, really fast.
Do you ever have to deal with Gigabyte files? I do. UltraEdit has no trouble with those either.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

It isn't the cheapest editor, but I use this most days at work. I need something that can handle anything I can throw at it.
It does have the ability to write scripts, but I find that aspect not as friendly as I would like. It works, but it isn't as easy as I think it could be.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

If you only use a text editor once in a while, maybe Notepad++ can handle your needs. I use this daily and I wouldn't pass this up for the world.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometimes, I have genuinely huge files. No, not huge by Google's standards, but I think that having to edit a multi-Gigabyte file is pretty big. Most editors, eventually, can load one, but do you trust them? I don't.
I sometimes need to bring other tools from UltraEdit in to help. UltraCompare comes to mind. That is so easy to use from inside UltraEdit. It's literally two clicks and you are comparing the two (or three) files.

  ### 19. Own one of the top productivity go to products

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ransom T. | Supervisor of Information Services and Software Development, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I've been in IT for over 40 years and I can say that the IDE family of products are some of the best tools on the market. I use UltraEdit several times daily and UltraCompare several times weekly. The ability to open large files quickly and robust built in search and replace functionality are my favorites.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

After spending several minutes thinking about this question, I honestly have no dislikes. I manage a programming staff and the all give it high marks.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

If you're looking for a low-cost, fully functional, feature-rich text editor, I've not found any better.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UltraEdit quickly allows us to review log files, data files and miscellaneous files that have no default program associated. I can honestly say that productivity would suffer if we didn't have this tool.

  ### 20. Great product, wonderful service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc A. | Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I tend to use UE/UC mostly for file compares, as a hex editor, conversion tool, and a fast and light examiner for data and program files. It excels at all of those. The macros along with Find/Replace have saved so much time for me.

Customer service is absolutely outstanding. Licensing or product support issues are all handled quickly and professionally.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I've never felt it had good integration with compilers and debuggers to make it more of a complete IDE... I haven't looked into it for several iterations and it may have changed. Back in the olden days, when I used Brief and Emacs, they had pretty good integration that I never saw in UE, so never was able to really switch to it for all my programming needs.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's my go-to text utility and editor. Need to hack a binary? Examine a disk/flash card dump? Convert from one format to another?

I don't use it for much programming, specifically, but I spend a lot of time using UE.

  ### 21. User for 20 years plus. Best text editor out there...every new job - first software I request

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William E. | Engineering Professor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

The speed, ability to column edit, and it is compatible with so many things. If you are a CLI warrior at all, this is the text editor you have always dreamed of.

If you have never column edited and column inserted dynamic text before you will be surprised how beneficial this software is.

Parsing XML or HTML is a breeze with UltraEdit.

opening up a 10GB file is like opening a 10KB file, no delay and instant access.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Nothing, this text editor does it all...perfectly. It is a bit more expensive than what you typically might expect a text editor to be, but it is still worth every penny. If you time is valuable, you will make up the cost in no time,.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Just do it, you will not regret it. You will wonder why you used anything else before UltraEdit

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Large HEX editing, fast sorting of huge corpus, data extraction and cleansing.

  ### 22. UltraEdit is a great file editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris R. | Sr Database Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

The feature I like best is column mode - it allows me to create or modify scripts with rows of similar data way faster than moving around by hand. I have never had it crash and it can handle fairly large files. UltraEdit makes me much more productive when coding shell script ETL and viewing data files than other tools like vi, pspad, or notepad++. Working with text data files is a breeze with UltraEdit. I am able to create sets of data using small extracts of other columns with ease. Creating quick scripts to do mass file name changes is easy with UltraEdit as well. The convenience of UltraCompare within ultra edit is a big time saver as well.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I cannot find anything about UltraEdit that I dislike. As the updates have been released, it has simply grown faster, more robust and easier to use. UltraEdit has many more bells and whistles than I have ever used (or probably will use), but for those once in a while tasks (like looking at a file in hex), this tool seems to be able to do it all. I have been working with UltraEdit for several years and cannot imagine working without it.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Try it, you will love it for editing text files!

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to modify ETL scripts and configuration files. Features like column mode make it faster to create or update scripts compared to vi or pspad.

  ### 23. Greatest Text Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul M. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

The simplicity yet power of the editor. I can open gigabyte text files and work with them with ease but I'm able to set an interface that is simple and works well in a dark environment. Customer support has been exemplary. Updates have been consistent and regular. There is just not enough good to say about this. I use this on Windows and Mac OS. I use this to program, take notes, and code. The first thing that attracted me to this product was its tabbed text file viewing.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

There is nothing I do not like other than the Mac OS client really needs live spell check like Windows. I already put in a support request for this recently and they replied within a few minutes saying they will work on it.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Worth every penny for a developer.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opening our company's massive hundreds of megs/gigabyte log files (text). But I use it for everything, taking notes, coding, getting rid of text formatting, etc... The tabbed view is a must so I can have tons of files opened at once.

  ### 24. Fantastic Editor, Fantastic Customer Service and FANTASTIC PEOPLE!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Warren B. | Research Analyst, Government Administration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Where to start? I've used this product since I started needing editors. It was amazing. Then they got into the macros and I would get stuck trying to write custom ones I wanted - their customer service would give me all the help I needed. Then I found out that they donate money to charities - and the founder really cares passionately about helping. I don't like any one thing best - really they are an inspiring company.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I dislike nothing - seriously. Anything I can't do is because I haven't spent enough time learning how. AND they will actually GUIDE me if I run into roadblocks and can't get further. I have no excuses.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Try it! Also check out the company - they really are good people. I have shared my credit card info with them DIRECTLY because of third party issues and I never had a moment of concern. I don't BELIEVE IN many companies. I believe in this one.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well I'm part of a data team for a government employer. There are SO many times I need an industrial strength editor.

  ### 25. Ultra Edit: Time and Sanity Saver

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristin M. | Associate Registrar, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I really like the search features of Ultra Edit and the ease with which files can be edited and saved.

I also think it's worth mentioning that the staff support is really excellent. Anytime I encounter an issue, the staff is really quick to address my primary concern and help me meet my needs rather than consistently attempting to up sale me an item. Along those lines, I feel like the pricing structure is really nice because it's arranged in a way that is transparent and isn't dependent on our institution's current student enrollment or other variable factors that some other software companies use to price their items.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I don't truly dislike any of Ultra Edit's features.

I do wish the sort feature was a little more like Excel where information that needs to be sorted could be more quickly selected and sorted. However, I think this is one of those areas where a person just gets better at the sort feature with extended use because my supervisor is actually very quick at sorting via Ultra Edit. I, however, seem to always have a tough time reminding myself how the sort feature works. All that being said, there is a sort feature and it does work and prove helpful when attempting to quickly compare data line-by-line. Any issues encounter with the sort feature can likely be attributed to user error rather than software error.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

I suggest others set up this item for the free trial because nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you like the product, the cost is really not prohibitive especially considering the amount of support you will receive.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use UltraEdit for our State reports. If there's a problem with the way a student's data is exporting, the information can be fixed directly in UltraEdit so that a large amount of time isn't spent trying to figure out why something such as an arbitrary leading zero did not export from our Student Information System (SIS.) Instead of spending a ton of time attempting to fix our student system's edit reports and attempting to figure out why all the needed characters aren't exporting, we can just fix the issue directly in the Ultra edit file view which enables us to more quickly submit any needed State report revisions.

  ### 26. Column Markers/View is Great!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick G. | Application Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

The only reason I was looking for a new editor was for one that had a column marker/view option. This is perfect for the column view. I like how you can create custom column view groups as I work with files that are block 8 and block 10.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

The only thing I wish the column view could do is that each file could be set to have their own column markers/view that is active. For example, one file has block 8 and another has block 10. The only way to do this that I know of is to open a new instance and set one instance block 8 markers and the other to block 10 markers.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Great tool if you need column markers/view option.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves a lot of time and typos from counting spaces when trying to edit block files.

  ### 27. Ultraedit

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rene v. | Network & system engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I am not a coder anymore, still do some stuff in php and python, it supports about any other programming language you can think off.
For me the key features are Column/block editing, Multi-caret editing, Multi-select you name it ...For me ultra-edit comes most handy for manipulating large portions of text and import them in excel.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I really don't know what to say, its a great product. no dislikes what so ever.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Just try it, they offer a 100% money back if you are not satisfied with their product

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it every day in various ways, getting rid of rich-text or html formatting. Preparing things for excel. small scripting stuff

  ### 28. A complete text and binary and utf8 editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo P. | Tecnico Informatico, sviluppatore software, Technical Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2018

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

When I left my good older software in dos, as a program editor, I looked for good, precise, practical, simple software, but with better features than I was leaving. I tried many text editor, from Komodo, to Notepad ++, until one day Antonio Linares suggested UltraEdit.
As Software Specialist I'm always very exigent but I did well to believe the words of Antonio.
I tried it, then I bought it. Why?. To move the column text? For the coloring of the code? For checking the brackets? For the fact that, for my clients, I could work with 100 MB texts, without going crazy and without slowing down? I do not know, I only know that it allowed me to write programs, helping me in my work. He never lost a data. I've never had 1 problem. In many of my colleagues they imitated me, buying the product. It's good works well, not problems.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Nothing ..........................................................................................

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

With ultraedit you work well, the functions are well grouped, the work flows well. There is a lot of help from the program. The search for Ultraedit is unbeatable.
The trial does not cost, and adds quality to your work and takes away fatigue.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Software development, processing of data from text files from industries. To treat them to acquire them to the databases. A good helper for HTML C C++, Php for writing web code.

  ### 29. Great software with great customer relationship for years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sylvain R. | Chef de projet MOA, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I've beeb using Ultra Edit for more than 10 years now and the software never ceased to evolve, bringing us the latest trending features.
I like the column mode a lot, and the ability to handle huge files without slowing down the computer.
In the course of my career I had a few contacts with the customer service and they've always been kind and prompt to answer.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

There's nothing really that I dislike in UltraEdit.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

- always improving with regular updates
- free updates
- great customer service

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coding (PHP and SQL), data analysis,...
I can manualy manage some big data faster than if I had to develop some scripts.

  ### 30. For me, the very best editor there is.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Axel S. | Freelancer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

First and foremost, I like best that UltraEdit is a writing and coding environment that is rock-solid. Plus, that it is evident that the developers and the company behind it take pride in their products. The walk that extra mile to get things just right. Make that plural: extra miles. I have been using UltraEdit since version 12 and can say without reservation that this application has grown in an organic and meaningful way. Sure, the feature set is huge – but never intimidating in my experience. In fact, a feature that is not immediately clear to you almost certainly will but a big smile on your face later as you go along.
And you can make UltraEdit your very own – in appearance, perceived complexity (or lack thereof), and anything else.
If you are looking for a plain text editor, coding environment and never want to look back I highly recommend UltraEdit. Many others do have a lot of claims, but UltraEdit actually delivers. A case in point is working with large or even huge files.
Another essential point for me is support and that the applications I am using are backed by real people. So, in the unlikely event of running into a glitch – perceived or real – you can be assured to receive swift response and positive action from the support team.
One more essential thing that I like: UltraEdit not only supports Unicode, UltraEdit wholeheartedly embraced it.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I am aware that this may sound strange, but there is nothing about the application I dislike.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apart from all my general writing tasks I use UltraEdit for 3 things.
1) Cleaning up fairly large plain text files for placement into layout applications.
2) Translation work with text that relies on glyphs with diacritical marks.
3) Preparing (X)HTML and CSS files for the production of ePUB books

  ### 31. Support that is second to none

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Printing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Not only is UltraEdit superior to other products we have used but my last 2 experiences with support have been quick, accurate and the issues were resolved immediately! The new ability to manage products and licenses online is an amazing tool for any Administrator.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I have not encountered any issues or dislikes yet. This is unusual as I have been supporting users who have been using UltraEdit & UltraCompare for over 5 years

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Do it you will not have a single regret. I have tried NotePad++ and all of the users complained. I have not installed a product that my entire team had agreed on until UltrEdit.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to quickly open and modify text files that would never open in most text editors. The ability to user UltraEdit & UltraCompare together simplifies our work.

  ### 32. UltraEdit - Killer of Notepad

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Coordinator, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Since I program in a few different languages, I like how I can highlight each project I am working on based on the language I am developing in.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

I have not found anything to dislike. The interface is great, the support is great. I tell people to try it all the time.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Also look into UltraCompare

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recently, there was an issue with a file that I was creating and sending to another department. To make a long story short, they were opening the file on a different OS and saving the file making it unreadable by the application. Using UltraEdit, I demonstrated to them that they were modifying the line endings of the file which was causing the problem. They had to see it to believe it.

  ### 33. UltraEdit and UltraCompare are very effective with my work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

The features of UltraEdit such like search the words which will be displayed on a separated window.
The UltraCompare can compare two large files and show the difference quickly.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Ultracompare files in two different folders are not convenient sometime which hope to improve in later version.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Find related lines from a huge log file and display on a separated window
2. Able to compare two large files to show the difference very quickly.

  ### 34. Multiporpouse tool with a perfect integration in developing teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emilio C. | Data Platform Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

My favorite detail in Utraedit is that u can use in a very high of environments and situations, the code generated is clean without garbage code, recently in using visual studio code i have a lot of problems to use the generated scripts, and with UE never happen this to me

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Too expensive, is the best option for individual use and little besiness but the licensing is too expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Use it its powerfull, ease of use, no thrash code

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The usefull of its tools, absolutly complete, fos big files works perfect

  ### 35. Inventory Sepcialist's MUST HAVE software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arron P. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I use have used this software for years. It makes comparing large spreadsheet data for our inventory so easy. I showed my current company how it works and was able to track and locate hundreds of missing or mis-scanned items within minutes. HUGE time saver and saves the bottom line as well.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Not much to dislike here. It works exactly like you think it would and should. A bit of a learning curve for some of the more advanced features, but still COMPLETELY worth every penny.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

This program inludes the Ultra Compare software as well and I use them together frequently for formatting and then comparing. Super simple and intuitive.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned above, tracking inventory currently. But in the past I originally used this for comparing data entered in mass land surveying and civil engineering projects to find missing or incomplete data points.

  ### 36. Best Text Editor Available Anywhere

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave H. | Sr Systems Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2018

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I've been using UE for about 12-13 years. It's a well refined, feature rich and FAST editor. Code highlighting is one of my favorite features. You can easily create new Highlighting rules for languages that don't already have syntax profiles (wordfiles) available.
I've used other free editors, they all feel crude and unrefined in comparison to UE. It's a great tool that I plan on using till retirement.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

There is very little to dislike with UE. But if I had to pick one thing, it would probably be XML support. While it's still very useable, I think more could be done to improve it's usability.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Tech Support is top-notch. I've contacted IDM several times with questions, comments and suggestions. They have always been very quick to get back to me. They have even implemented one of my suggestions is a subsequent version. And they even let me know it was coming and let me try it out pre-release. Go figure.
Great product, Great support.. What else can a person ask for !!!

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use UE nearly every day for general data file viewing as well as viewing and editing code, everything from C++ to ABAP and MOCA. Code highlighting is awesome.

  ### 37. Ultimate Text Editor for Productivity Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

have been using UltraEdit for 10+ years since i was in college. Have tried many alternatives, including notepad++, Emacs, VI, etc, but none of them come as handy, fast, and do what editor is supposed to do as UltraEdit.

It makes me focus on what i need to work on no matter coding, writing or editing scripts, without worry anything else that you might encounter in other text editors, like file too large, response slowly, file backup, default font, syntax highlight, binary editing, file comparison, collapsing the difference, etc.

It really saved me tons of time to focus on the right thing rather than learning the tool itself.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

the lifetime license is a bit expensive but well worth the price. you won't regret it.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

if you are struggle with finding a right text editor, no brainer go to UltraEdit. it well worth the money spent.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is really the productivity improvements and time saving by focusing on the client experience made me feel very good about the product.

if you think about hours of time you spend on any text editor, it could easily save you a few hours per month, 20~40+ hours a year, if you take into consideration of the hourly rate, it really saves you a lot if you think about the long term.

  ### 38. great editor for old code dogs

  ### 39. Best Text Editor for Hardcoder

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mun-Gwon J. | administrator/coder/designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2018

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I've been using it for a long time.ten thousand
Shamefully, it's been bought in a few years.
I'm a hardcoder web and php.
I'm using Ultra Editor with UTF-8 character code.

And of course, it's more than just a bunch of well-known editors, and it's more than just a few of them.
Especially, it is very useful when you use Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

Ultra-editor may not be 100% complete.
However, we haven't stopped updating a single time in years.
Sometimes errors occur.
However, it is modified immediately.
Best of all, customer support is excellent.
If you missed the time to send an e-mail to a developer who didn't answer,
Make sure you use the Ultra Editor.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

There are so many functions.
Sometimes it's hard to find.
And need a prettier skin.^^

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Believe it, try it, and request it when necessary. If you have a bug, report it and wait for an answer.
It can be fixed immediately.
Long-term corrections can sometimes be corrected even after one year.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

here are many times when I have to code more than a thousand lines once.
Without Ultra Editors, there are many things that are impossible.
Especially for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean editions called CJK.
Ultra-Editor's powerful code-aware and converted capabilities shine.

  ### 40. UltraEdit is without a doubt the best text editor on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan J. | Technology Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2017

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

UltraEdit the most powerful text editor out there. The speed, flexibility, configuration options are wonderful. Perfect for handling large files that other editors would choke when trying to use. It is beyond just a programmer's / web developers editor. With it's UTF (Unicode) support I have used it to edit/review small files that came in other languages. I have used UltraEdit for some things that one would normally not think of a text editor for as UltraEdit was so powerful.

I should also add the support with UltraEdit is amazing. They are fast to respond, and very friendly. They have send me ideas, suggestions and for the one bug they even sent ma a patch. I have seen the iffy support of other text editors. Getting good support from groups like IDM who makes UltraEdit is always a big benefit.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

The price to purchase UtlraEdit can be a little high. I only suggest buying it for people serious about their work and wanting "the best". If you are just starting out and/or don't know what a text editor is then this may not be for you. One problem is also a feature.... there are so many configuration options it can be tricky to know what you want. They have improved this with a config search option, but could improve the search more and give "examples".

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

There are cheaper options, but if you are serious about your work and need from a long term perspective it is great.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Editing large files
-Find and replace
-FTP Support
-Full Unicode Support
-Plane Text Editor
-Column Mode Support with column features.
-XML Manager -- i did not even realize how nice this was till someone sent me a messed up XML File and i could use UltraEdit to find THEIR problems very quickly.

  ### 41. An extremely powerful, customizable code/text editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stew S. | Senior Programmer/Analyst, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2018

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

* Text editing is extremely strong and make it really easy to do powerful things efficiently. My favorites just in that area are:
    * Column editing
    * Multi-caret selection
    * Quick to record and playback keystroke macros (which you can save)
    * Code templates
    * Split screen
* Search and replace using regular expressions makes searching a breeze
* Keys can be mapped to your preferences
* File handling is very strong, especially very large files, including fixed-format and CSV.
* Themes plus highlighting by file type makes it much easier to scan through code
* Built-in sftp editor, with file browser

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

* I wish they'd offer a range of themes (aka color schemes) for those of us who don't want a black screen.
* There are *so many settings* that finding the setting you want can be daunting. Now that they've added the ability to search through Settings, it's a lot easier. But some special customizations still require you to directly edit the settings.ini file, which seems archaic in 2018.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

When you do the 30-day trial, be sure to look under the hood at the extensive functionality. Also, map the key-strokes to your liking for the major editor functions , so it's comfortable for you from the start. Install syntax highlighting add-ons for your favorite languages/file-types.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a professional programmer so a great code editor is required. But I have an IDE for most of my coding.
I use UE mostly for viewing and editing large data files, editing HTML, scanning my source code (when UE's powerful Search features really rule).
I also use it to create small code snippets, again for the power of Search/Replace.

  ### 42. None Better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

  ### 43. UltraEdit, UltraAwesome!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Speed, function, versatility! It allows our robot programmers to manipulate and make repeating changes so quickly, compares and edits that would take hours, now take minutes.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

In all honesty I have not had any downside reported to me, integration with windows is seamless, usability is intuitive, the biggest headache for me is getting it through our intake policy for software, and IDM helped with that to!

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Previously some of our robot programmers used notepad++, now they all use UltraEdit and UltraCompare.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Primarily our use for UltraEdit is with robot programming. Industrial robots run on very text heavy programs, UltraEdit allows us to keep form and function consistent quickly and easily over numerous robots.

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

I like that I seldom need to contact them because their product is extremely intuitive, but when I do I get to a knowledgeable, pleasant representative without wading my way through an automated attendant. When I first started using the product I frequently spoke to the company founder, Ian Mead himself.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

One of the few products that I can find little fault with.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Well worth the price! I have continued to upgrade since first using the product over 20 years ago. Can't say that for any other software I use.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When configuring control systems, I frequently find it useful to manipulate .txt, .csv, .html, .xml .. and UE is my goto. I use it a lot to edit VBA, HTML, and other scripting languages and love the way that it formats accordingly. I have also used the HEX editor for troubleshooting and repair of damaged file headers, PLC programs, etc.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

It's eminently customizable from the simple to the extremely complex and all-encompassing - the ultimate for programmers. The best feature - for me - is its search capability: more extensive than anything I've seen. Has great flexibility in searching for hex characters too. Bookmarking is great feature that I really liked when they added it.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

Nothing. I've used it since version 1.0 and it's only gotten better. The bookmark addition is super!

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

Get it

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For my traffic collision investigation jobs, I simply use it as the BEST all-around editor. Not programming with it, although I have done that in the past and would never use anything else.

  ### 48. Best code editor ever

**Reviewed by:** Bashar S. | Programmer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2018

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

UltraEdit is just a great software it help me to remove many tools I was using them to get the job done, now I can do everything like before and more in one place, and if you missed something you will find it in UEStudio for sure.

Themes are fully customized which helped me to build my own interface with my customized colors specifically for my eyes if I need to work at night.

Also the templates is very cool idea, I just customized my own templates, writing the code will be faster and easier than before.

The price could look for some people expensive but comparing with the features and the advanced options it was perfect for me, at least 25 years of experience worth more than that.

About the company they are very flexible and the support are so helpful if you need a solution the are ready to respond in no time, also I was need to change from product to another and they help me to do that with very short time and very easy process.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

really nothing, I do believe that nothing is complete 100%, this software had features more and more than what you could missed.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

You can just try it and you will see all the awesome features by yourself.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Edit (PHP, Javascript, CSS, SQL, JSON, XML) Files
Find in files + replace
Comparing files
Multi-caret is just a great feature
Edit large files

  ### 49. A lifetime with UltraEdit at my side.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

It just does everything I could hope for in an editor :-) I love the hex editor and column mode. And it's my place of choice when I simply want to make some note, save a web address or cut/paste some data for use later.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

FTP is a great addition, and so is having SSH built-in. Be nice if the Mac version supported SSH too.

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

I know there are many free editors available, but I find you get what you pay for. You get all you could possibly want in an editor with UE - and you get UltraCompare for free now! UE is a nice place to go to work every day.

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use UE in preference to other IDEs, and on Windows, Linux and Mac. Having a consisted experience across all three platforms really does maximise efficiency. UE has become my one-stop editor for all my code.

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2019

**What do you like best about UltraEdit?**

Ultraedit is great for Perl, and I like the fast speed and the function list. It has a bit of everything that I need. Converting tabs to spaces is an often used feature. Being able to fully customize the colors... The SFTP/FTP connections. Bookmarks, the find functionality to display search results in a list, to highlight occurrences. It has many features that I still discover today. It also recently helped me with XML.

**What do you dislike about UltraEdit?**

When in horizontal split mode, the bookmarks appear twice.
It would be great to drag windows outside of Ultraedit without starting a new instance

**Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:**

It is the best value for money editor period

**What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can work with very large Perl files where some other IDE's would be too slow.
