It does exactly what it claims to do without any nonsense. And it's fast. The "All-Access" subscription is excellent; a real deal-breaker for me given I use at least three of the IDM products on a regular basis (Ultraedit daily, Ultracompare occasionally, UltraFTP weekly). This is software of the highest quality that has clearly undergone years of improvements, adjustments, and augmentation - not to make it look 'glitzy', but in order to add functionality and remain current with operating system changes and functionality. Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit: If you are looking for a text editor that works seamlessly, and is customisable in so many ways, this is the one. Especially when they give you a 30-days free trial. But Ultracompare is also excellent - especially when you really do need to find out whether two files contain exactly the same information, or sometimes more importantly, where they differ. Just day to day stuff - from looking at/working with HTML, the occasional file comparison, transfers via FTP, day-to-day construction/editing of text documents (with font information removed) - cut-and-paste from font/layout-formatted documents and web-pages into MS Word using Ultraedit as a 'middle-man' app to strip out all that formatting prior to pasting and automatically invoking whatever Word "Normal" format I happen to be using (much quicker than changing fonts and paragraph layouts/line heights etc. in WORD.
