What do you like best about TryHackMe?

The standout feature for me is the accessibility of the hands-on labs. The in-browser AttackBox is a real game-changer because it eliminates the usual headache of troubleshooting broken VM network settings or wrestling with dependency issues across everyone’s individual laptops. My team can simply click a button and have a full Linux environment ready to go within seconds. I’m also a huge fan of the variety in the content; they take dense, intimidating topics like Active Directory attacks or log analysis and break them into gamified, manageable chunks that keep people engaged and genuinely interested. What do you dislike about TryHackMe?

Managing the platform as an admin comes with a few friction points. The team reporting dashboard feels a bit too basic when I need to dig into specific user metrics or generate more detailed compliance reports for management. I’ve also noticed that while the beginner content is excellent, some of the very advanced rooms can feel overly guided or linear. My senior analysts sometimes get frustrated because they’d prefer more open-ended, “black box” style challenges, rather than having to follow a breadcrumb trail of very specific hints. What problems is TryHackMe solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem TryHackMe solved for me was the huge time drain of building and maintaining our own labs. Before we switched, I was spending hours every week manually configuring vulnerable VMs, hosting them locally, and then troubleshooting when they inevitably crashed in the middle of a workshop. TryHackMe removed that infrastructure burden entirely. Just last month, during an incident response drill, I was able to instantly deploy a pre-made network forensics lab for twenty staff members, so we could spend our time actually learning defense strategies instead of debugging server issues.
