The system has not had any performance issues while I have used it and this is a really important part of how good it is. The system also integrates really well with other programs. **What do you dislike about Sycamore?** Some things can be a little difficult to find unless you know exactly what you are looking for. There are no systems out there that I've found, including Sycamore, that accommodate this type of grading, so we are forced to be "creative" with the classrooms and grading and keep many of the grades in spreadsheets outside of Sycamore. **What problems is Sycamore solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sycamore keeps our school information organized and accessible--going all the way back to the beginning of the school in 2010! We are able to access what we need and complete processes like attendance, grade reporting, behavior reporting, records requests, communication with parents and students by email and text, and more. It has been a great resource and timesaver from the start of our school through significant growth! ### 3. It is easy to use and incorporate in everyday life! From communication with parents, to checking grades, and counting discipline notices, sycamore is great! **What do you dislike about Sycamore?** Sycamore is very robust. Meaning, they have so many features. Because of that, there is a large learning curve that must take place for users to understand Sycamore. However, after a short time, users will learn the necessary steps to make their incorporation of Sycamore successful. **Recommendations to others considering Sycamore:** Gather a team of leaders in your school that are able to work collaboratively on implementing Sycamore. By gathering a team of implementation staff, the administration's load is lessened. **What problems is Sycamore solving and how is that benefiting you?** WCA uses Sycamore as their sole SIS. Grades, communication with families, tracking discipline notices, etc. are some of the benefits of using Sycamore. The benefit of Sycamore to WCA and its families is huge! ### 4. The reps are flexible and are willing to work through the problem to resolution. The product is solid and designed in an intuitive way. **What do you dislike about Sycamore?** The major complaint we have had over the years is the number of "buttons" that need to be pushed to navigate between classes. That has gotten better, and we are hoping progress continues. **What problems is Sycamore solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have had report problems that needed to be tweeked. I am able to send emails directly to staff and relay information. And I can check grades and missing assignments. **What do you dislike about Sycamore?** If information is not put up promptly or in the right place it can be hard to find. With so many options it gets confusing for a first time user to move around the app. **What problems is Sycamore solving and how is that benefiting you?** Posting all school announcements and having activities on the school calendar have made information sharing easy. Parents can search for topics and find announcements they are interested in. ### 7. Sycamore has allowed us to not break our budget. The app for attendance works really well. The gradebook is fine. It's comparable to most other gradebooks I have used, and so it works well for us. **What do you dislike about Sycamore?** One of my biggest concerns is limitations with transcript and report card format. We need more flexibilty in particular with transcripts (not enough space, need to list more classes than box provides, need an easier way to move 8th grade classes up to 9th). Overall, it is simply not as user friendly as many programs that educators interact with. The font is small, and it's not always intuitive. The steps are not always intuitive. It is the only program I know that continues to use pop-up boxes. **What problems is Sycamore solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it for basic info database, grade reporting, and attendance. ### 8. All student documentation is at easy access for me. **What do you dislike about Sycamore?** There is nothing missing from this product. It is very well done and offers great explanation on how to get started on using all the tabs. There is nothing I would add. **What problems is Sycamore solving and how is that benefiting you?** Communicating with parents is key. Sycamore offers a direct line between teacher and parents. Parents can be alerted about grades immediately. However, I have not worked with other school management software, so I really don't have a basis for comparison.
