"SpotMe Delivers a Flexible, App-First Live Event Experience"

What do you like best about SpotMe?

What I like best about SpotMe is that it feels built for the live event experience, not just registration. Cvent is strong for registration, event websites, attendee management, payments, and backend event setup, but SpotMe gave us a much more flexible app layer for the actual onsite/member experience.

For GBS, we used SpotMe as the central event app experience and built a much more interactive ecosystem around it. We were able to support features like the Deal Hub journey, deal feed, abstracts, hashtags, “My Submitted Deals,” Speed Networking, attendee discovery, AI Deal Search, AI Attendee Search, AI Matchmaking, Klik smart badge integration, Databox screens, and Intercom/Fin AI access from inside the app.

What made SpotMe stand out was how flexible it was for creating a more engaging member experience. Instead of the app being only a static agenda or information hub, we were able to make it part of a connected ecosystem. Using APIs, middleware, URL parameters, Fillout, Vercel, Supabase, Intercom, MuleSoft, and Klik, we connected SpotMe with other platforms so data could move across systems and create a more personalized experience.

Compared to Cvent, SpotMe was better for the front-end event app experience, onsite engagement, networking, content discovery, and member interaction. Cvent remained important as the registration and event setup system, but SpotMe allowed us to create a more modern, app-first experience for members during the event. It gave us more room to customize the attendee journey, support live engagement, and make the event feel more connected and interactive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SpotMe?

What I dislike is that SpotMe does not natively support adding a custom chatbot or AI assistant directly inside the app experience. For GBS, we wanted members to access Intercom/Fin AI from within the SpotMe app, but because SpotMe did not support this natively, we had to create a workaround using a Cvent-hosted page, URL parameters, custom code snippets, MuleSoft authentication/hash generation, and Intercom deployment outside SpotMe.

The workaround worked, but it added extra complexity. Ideally, SpotMe should allow customers to embed or configure a custom chatbot/AI assistant directly inside the app, with support for authenticated user context such as name, email, registration ID, event ID, and custom fields. This would make AI support, attendee search, deal search, FAQs, and event guidance much easier to deliver inside the native app experience.

A native chatbot/AI assistant option would make SpotMe much stronger for modern events because the app is already where members are engaging during the event. Having AI support built directly into that experience would reduce technical workarounds and create a smoother member journey. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering SpotMe:

To enhance SpotMe's capabilities, it would be beneficial to integrate native support for custom chatbots or AI assistants directly within the app. This would streamline the user experience by reducing the need for complex workarounds and allow for seamless integration of AI-driven features such as attendee search, deal search, and event guidance. What problems is SpotMe solving and how is that benefiting you?

SpotMe is solving the problem of creating a more engaging and connected live event app experience. Cvent is strong for registration, event websites, and backend event setup, but SpotMe helps solve the onsite/member engagement side by giving us a flexible app environment for networking, content discovery, personalized journeys, and live event interaction.

For GBS, SpotMe helped us bring multiple event experiences into one app, including Deal Hub access, deal feed and abstracts, “My Submitted Deals,” Speed Networking, AI Deal Search, AI Attendee Search, AI Matchmaking, Klik smart badge integration, and Databox/event screen visibility. This made the app more than a static agenda tool — it became a central hub for member engagement during the event.

The benefit is that members had a smoother way to discover deals, find attendees, access AI support, participate in networking, and interact with event content. For the internal team, SpotMe helped reduce manual work by allowing us to connect it with Fillout, Vercel, Supabase, Intercom, MuleSoft, Klik, and other tools through APIs, middleware, URL parameters, and automation.
