As the Technology Director for a K-12 school, I’m responsible for supporting hundreds of computers across our campus, and Splashtop Business has become one of the most valuable tools in our IT department. We currently maintain a paid license that covers 600 devices, and I’ve been extremely pleased with the overall experience.
The interface is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. I like that I can quickly find a specific computer, start a remote connection, and begin troubleshooting without having to work through a bunch of unnecessary steps. When you’re managing technology for an entire school, simplicity and efficiency really matter.
Splashtop also fits smoothly into our existing IT environment and day-to-day support workflows. Being able to remotely access staff computers without asking someone to bring a device to my office or having to walk across campus has been a huge time-saver. It lets me resolve many issues within minutes while keeping disruptions to classroom instruction and staff productivity to a minimum.
Performance has been excellent. Connections are typically fast, responsive, and stable, to the point that it often feels like I’m sitting right in front of the computer. Whether I’m troubleshooting software, adjusting settings, or helping a staff member, the experience stays consistently smooth.
From a pricing perspective, I think Splashtop offers outstanding value. Considering the number of devices we support and the time we save by handling issues remotely, the return on investment is significant. For a school working within a limited technology budget, having a dependable solution that doesn’t come with an unreasonable price tag is a major advantage.
Getting started was straightforward, and the platform has remained easy to manage as our needs have grown. I haven’t had to rely on extensive technical assistance just to keep things running, which says a lot about how well the product is designed.
While AI capabilities aren’t necessarily what I’m looking for in a remote access solution, I do appreciate software that prioritizes reliability, ease of use, and practical functionality over unnecessary bells and whistles. Splashtop does exactly that. I’d certainly welcome intelligent features that could streamline troubleshooting in the future, but the core functionality already delivers what I need.
Overall, Splashtop Business has made managing and supporting our school’s technology significantly easier. It’s one of those tools I genuinely rely on and wouldn’t want to be without. I highly recommend it to other school technology directors, IT departments, and organizations that need dependable remote access at a reasonable cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While my overall experience with Splashtop Remote Support has been extremely positive, there are a couple of issues that have been frustrating, particularly when managing a large number of devices in a busy IT environment.
The biggest issue I've encountered involves the Splashtop desktop application occasionally freezing after a remote session times out or disconnects due to inactivity. When this happens, the main application window that displays all my managed computers becomes completely unresponsive. The only way I've found to resolve it is to open Windows Task Manager, force-close the Splashtop application, and then reopen it. It's not a major issue in terms of functionality, but it becomes frustrating when you're working through multiple support requests and need to move quickly between devices. Ideally, a session timeout should simply close that particular session without affecting the main application.
Another area that could use improvement is the remote wake-up functionality. In our environment, the wake-up command has been inconsistent and doesn't always successfully wake devices that are powered off or asleep. I recognize that Wake-on-LAN functionality can depend on hardware, network configurations, and device power settings, so I can't necessarily attribute every failure directly to Splashtop. However, from a practical standpoint, it hasn't been reliable enough for me to depend on it as a consistent remote management feature.
I would also like to see better diagnostic feedback when a remote wake-up attempt fails. Being able to determine whether the command was actually delivered, whether the device responded, or whether a network or configuration issue prevented it from working would make troubleshooting much easier.
Neither of these issues is significant enough to change my overall positive opinion of Splashtop. The platform still provides tremendous value for our organization, and I would absolutely recommend it. However, improving the desktop application's stability following session timeouts and making remote wake-up functionality more reliable would make an already excellent product even better.
