**What do you like best about Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk?**

It was easy to track and manage tickets, easily customizable interface and backend. Reporting options can be good with built in options

**What do you dislike about Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk?**

No paid version so you can't strip out the ads. SQLite is not a robust database backend so it would regularly be slow to respond. It isn't scalable so it doesn't work well in a growing enterprise. It would work well for a small shop that requires a ticketing system..

Use if you're a small organization without a budget for a more robust system.

Spiceworks is very customizable and every month updates are being done to better improve.  What I like best is the customer portal.  Right now you can add custom attributes and fields to get the information you need most to solve an issue.

I dislike that the plugins are very limited for some of the things that I am looking to do.  Do not get me wrong there are a lot of plugins but not enough for my liking.

If you are looking for a free solution that works look into Spiceworks

Being that we are spread out over 7 rural counties being able to have employees submit tickets into one system helps out a bunch.

It's super easy for someone to set up and install on a Windows PC and have a help desk up and running right away. There's also a free option, which is right within our budget!

**What do you dislike about Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk?**

The fact that it's Windows-only is pretty disappointing and has led to it being pretty janky at times. I really wish there were a option for Apache/Linux but they haven't made any indication that they would ever do it.

Please make it for linux!!

We used spiceworks to replace the help desk that the previous IT staff had set up through Sharepoint. Spiceworks, despite its faults, is magnitudes better for both the customer and us as an IT group for organization and delegation of tickets.

Spiceworks Cloud helpdesk allows users to create tickets and have me respond without having to invest anything in my On Premise infrastructure to handle this.

The Spiceworks community is amazing. If you have issues and dont have answers you can usually find the solution in the Spiceworks community. It is an easy to use ticket tracking software. Lot's of features. Also tracks other hardware to ensure uptime. 

**What do you dislike about Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk?**

The one thing I really didn't like about the software is the ads. I am aware that this is how Spiceworks is able to provide a free solution and so I am ok with it. It was just the only thing I didn't really like. 

**Recommendations to others considering Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk:**

I would highly recommend giving Spiceworks a try. It was a great option for helpdesk ticketing.

I was solving all IT related issues at the Casino. Whether it was on the floor or behind the scenes Spiceworks allowed us to prioritize our tickets so that we could stay on top of all issues. We could reassign tickets as needed as well. We could collaborate on issues.

Inventory reporting is great. It captures all the information I need to plan my computer upgrades. The network mapping tool is so easy to use and give me all the relevant data I need to do an audit. Installation was a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk?**

It takes a while to do a network scan, and is unable to accept network entries on the Class C network. Other than that everything is great.

It is the one stop shop for help desk, monitoring and inventory. I love the spiceworks has app integration and flexibility.

High hardware resources and it is only available on Windows server. Another thing is that you can't turn off the ads.

I really like the simplicity of the system, we trialled this system and i personally loved almost eveything about it. Around 200 support cases were logged through the system during the trial and no issues were encountered.

The reporting function didnt quite cut it for me, it could be alot more flexible as there isn't a whole bunch of options at the minute, thats my only flaw with Spiceworks

Before trialling this system we were using a bespoke system (the developers are no longer around), so spiceworks brought a lot of features that our old outdated system didnt have, spiceworks aided us be more organised than our old system did.

Spiceworks is a great platform for small or even moderately sized it departments to accomplish work load accountability, and task delegation. Not only that but it has many features very useful for devise management and is easily accessible with ipads and android devises.

The interface can be a bit confusing at times.

Make sure to leverage custom attributes with tickets. use the dashboards for analyzing your incoming data. don't be afraid to use technical support.

we needed a simple, free and easy to use request ticketing system where we could delegate tasks out to employees. Spiceworks has been very helpful in this regard. We have notices an uptick in requests, and more customer feedback on services since migrating over to spiceworks.

I appreciate the ease of this program.  It makes sending information to IT about tech issues simple.  It allows you to edit your posts and view pending information. I appreciate how it allows a record of issues, so that if issues re-occur you can easily submit a ticket based on the old issue for reference.

I honestly do not have any issues with this program as a user.

We use an interface that allows users to simply email "help tickets".  The group of staff really enjoy the ease of this feature.

**What problems is Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to fix IT issues in a more timely manner.  We are more easily able to track issues that are unopened or unresolved.  I feel like my IT issues are addressed it a way that gives me access to the process behind the scenes. I am informed that my ticket has been submitted, and receive follow-up after tickets are closed.  This keeps me in the loop, and lets me know that my needs will be addressed.

It is almost impossible to migrate off of Spiceworks, you basically have to start from scratch.  Best way we found was to forward open, existing tickets and keep Spiceworks around for a year of archive, then make the call and cut it.

Originally wanted an easy ticketing system.  That is all it can do, if you are a small company (less than 50 employees) and don't use any cloud tools, it's for you.  If you are bigger than 50, have customer service reps, have e-commerce, it's not for you.

Much of the automated features such as each computer warranty and IP configuration.  I can get a lot of information about each computer.

It is a little slow on our network.  Sometimes it take a while to look up information when I'm in a hurry.

The only thing I am really using it for is tracking and inventory of computers, so that was the only problem I used it to resolve.

The price point is what really drives customers to Spiceworks, its tough to beat free.

The ads were really a turn off. I get it, its their revenue stream. When I was using it, there was no option to pay to remove the ads. My users really disliked having the ads.

We were attempting to replace an old, dying ticket system. Spice works was our first product we put in to try. It worked reasonably well, but our tech team never got on board.

I've used Spiceworks for about a year now as part of a public school district. The ability to easily communicate with people across buildings, especially the internal notes for the things not everyone needs to see, make it easy to complete our work orders effectively.

After a work order is unassigned from you to another tech, it would be nice to still have access to it to see what the ultimate resolution is.

Outside of the cost (which can't be beat), the Helpdesk software is very easy to use.  We have also really gotten good ROI on fact that you can automatically direct notifications based on fields.

A little clunky when you first set it up.  Outside of that, no complaints.

It's free! It gets the job done and offer many features a small IT shop will use. I can track and respond to requests easily. add private comments, add attachments and provide a portal where users can search a KB or fill out a form. the mobile app while not the most robust is a nice tool for keeping track of things while you're away from your desk.

**What do you dislike about Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk?**

The inventory management piece could use some work. Specifically, the ability to remove old equipment. It's not an easy task to clean up retired or old equipment from inventory. Reporting is tough. Unless you're a whiz with SQL, getting really usable metrics is challenging.

The offensive, stereotypical emails from Spiceworks that never ever end, the software is unreliable and doesn't send out notifications when you expect it to you, there are ads EVERYWHERE that are extremely invasive to the user experience,

There are other options out there. Be certain this really fulfills all of your needs.

Its free, so why not try. it is nice to keep an eye on your network and network devices. i liked getting notification when something went down, or if ram or hard drives were maxing out on servers.

it may have been a configuration issue but i kept loosing connections with the servers, and  there was not a way to add all discovered servers and network devices

Love how everything is connected when a user submits a ticket, you can see what computer they have,  the specs of it, perform some basic troubleshooting and also attach other devices to the ticket for your record like printers etc they are having issues with

Integration with AD to discover devices could I use some work like hiding devices that are old and no longer being used on the network

As a free tool (or you can become a premium member to remove the ads), Spiceworks is a great all-in-one tool for inventory management, ticketing, reporting, and tracking.

Although there are many functions and great ideas that are included, there are also many bugs that occur when deployed in a large environment. If the development team can squash some of these bugs instead of adding more and more functions, Spiceworks would be a solid piece of software.

-User portal page is very basic and may need coding to get desired end result
-Does not automatically update to the latest version. Administrators must manually update all instances (if you have remote sites)

Inventory management via network scanning saves us time from manually counting devices. Shows printer status amongst up-time status of critical systems is always welcomed. Ticketing system is very good and bug-free. Coupled with the new re-haul of the interface from version 7.5 and on, it is very streamlined and a pleasure to use.

Well, the ad support isn't awesome. And the program can be a bit difficult to navigate. I wish there was a bit more customization.

Due to the fact that it is a free solution, there are limitations that prevent the product from being entirely customized to your environment.

This is a greate product to consider utilizing if it will be your first help desk product. More established companies with very large user bases or companies with large IT departments should not consider this solution.

Most IT departments will find value, as we did in utilizing this system to establish their first ticket system.  We utilized it to gauge volume of tickets and more effectively utilize our internal resources.
